So its might end up getting a physical release after all. Either way, exciting news along with the announcement of a main FE game coming to the Switch next year.
Yes, this was just confirmed. Also has full voice acting, despite same-day release in Japan and North America. Nice work, Nintendo of America!

Nintendo's allowing for more color customization in Japan than they are here.

https://www.engadget.com/2017/01/19/...-three-things/

A quick shot of the UI that was tweeted out but then deleted.

The picture is strikingly different than other shots we've seen of the Nintendo Switch UI -- draping the bright, white menu theme shown in Nintendo's press conference with a darker theme. While it's likely this is just a simple "night mode" setting, it hints at the possibility that the Switch could have 3DS-like menu themes. This shot of the UI also has a new feature: a change user button, suggesting the Switch is a more sharable device than Nintendo's current portable. Finally, the image reveals two popular Nicalis titles previously unannounced for the Switch: Cave Story and 1001 Spikes.

re: Nintendo Switch: Building a New Generation of Hardware from Scratch

Kotaku sent Nintendo a bunch of questions and got...well, some answers.

USB hard drive support a la the Wii U is being investigated. The Switch is region free for retail games, but the eShop is region locked. It's not locked out of the box, though, and it sounds like you can have a Japanese account and an American account on the same system.

Also no Amazon, Netflix or Hulu, etc. support. I imagine most already have at least one box under the tv that accomplishes this, but it's still handy to hop between games & apps while you're on the same system.

No hard drive support out of the box is kinda weak.

There's so few games at launch that it's not like you would fill a larger hard drive any time soon anyway? I imagine adding a larger sdcard will be more then enough for the year.

The "nothing to announce" responses is glaringly bad this close to launch for a lot of those questions, especially when it comes to Virtual Console.

After thinking about it a bit, I doubt we see HDD support. They're viewing the Switch as a portable. Divorcing the Switch from the hard drive every time you leave the house is probably more programming than they want to deal with. That would leave the user in charge of managing where games are downloaded to. Oh noes! Think of the children!

Having said that, this just doesn't seem like the system you'd build a collection on.

The FCC approved the pro controller yesterday. Now we know why there haven't been any preorders.

In unsurprising news, LEGO Worlds is coming to the Switch.

The big image of the game release calendar/window is being updated by a guy on Reddit. Here's the latest, there's been a bunch of minor announcements and digital releases.

Spoiler:

I might actually get I Am Setsuna on Switch since I've been eyeing it on PC/PS4.

I wonder if this is lack of supply, actual demand, or demand fueled by dirty scalpers. Probably all of the above.

Yeah, I know. It's kind of a bummer since there's a physical release in other regions, but at least the file size seems small.

Had zero interest in this until I noticed Derby Stallion on that release calendar pic. Not familiar with it, but if it is on par with the Gallop Racer series (R.I.P.) then I would probably bite on one of these.

Side note: I hope that don't jack the difficulty through the damn roof on Ultra Street Fighter like they did with the HD remix.

That series has only been released in Japan. While the Switch is region free, these games have a lot of text and I don't think they've bothered with English translations.

Shit, I was assuming that since they listed it on there that meant they were making it friendly to all regions. Oh well...

A pretty nice look at the ports, speaker locations, exact dimensions, etc. on the Switch:

https://www.nintendo.co.uk/Nintendo-...1176277.html#1

Confirms that the Switch maxes out at 1080p60; no 4K output, not even for undemanding games or streaming services, I suppose. The internal battery can't be easily removed; gotta go through Nintendo for that.
