Re: Nintendo Switch: Building a New Generation of Hardware from Scratch
Game vouchers will be no longer be available to purchase after January 30, but at least you’ve still got 6 months and change to buy ‘em (and a year after that to use them).

Re: Nintendo Switch: Building a New Generation of Hardware from Scratch
We're finally getting Super Mario Galaxy 1 and 2 for Switch on October 10, 2025.

You can buy Galaxy 2 separately, apparently. Digitally, I mean.
I guess folks were just wanting a two-pack. ;) |
Re: Nintendo Switch: Building a New Generation of Hardware from Scratch
I'm dumb enough to probably seek out a physical edition.
I'm glad I don't play drinking games because taking a shot every time they said "paid DLC" would've been some kind of Leaving Las Vegas situation. Such a bizarre Direct: the Illumination guy reading a script like he was a hostage held at gunpoint, a physical Virtual Boy accessory, shadowdropped Bananza DLC that got more time than Metroid Prime 4, Z-A DLC up for preorder before the game's even out, the generally bizarre pacing and haphazard placement of announcements... But the good stuff was good, so...? |
Re: Nintendo Switch: Building a New Generation of Hardware from Scratch
Virtual Boy is the one major nintendo console I never had (for good reason) but man I'm tempted by that stupid accessory

Hmmm, I didn't know that.
I guess folks were just wanting a two-pack. ;) https://www.videogameschronicle.com/...retail-for-70/ According to Nintendo, both titles feature improved UI, the option to play with button and stick or motion controls, an in-game music player, new Storybook content, and enhanced resolution. For Nintendo Switch 2, a free update will add 4K resolution support for both titles.

Yeah, you're right, some of us do - but isn't 3D All Stars OOP?

Re: Nintendo Switch: Building a New Generation of Hardware from Scratch
Sorry, I should’ve used future tense about Galaxy 2. The perils of typing quickly on my phone before a meeting!
But knowing that the physical 2-pack is $69.99, and I already have 3D All-Stars, maybe I’ll just go digital instead. Even $39.99 for Galaxy 2 alone seems like way too much, though, especially since neither of these have been remastered or anything. |

Re: Nintendo Switch: Building a New Generation of Hardware from Scratch
Highlights of the Direct for me:
Dunno, maybe:
Monkey paw:
What, what?
But yeah, a good amount of stuff I was interested in and a whole lot I wasn't (especially with the Direct being so front-loaded with not-gaming stuff). On the upside about Galaxy 1/2: Additions to both games for these new versions include boosted resolution (up to 4K on Switch 2), an improved UI, a new in-game music player, and the option to play using button and stick or motion controls. |

Holy crap! $50?????
Nah, I'm good. |
Re: Nintendo Switch: Building a New Generation of Hardware from Scratch
But, on the other hand, for $40, I just preordered this.

Re: Nintendo Switch: Building a New Generation of Hardware from Scratch
Damn, that's a sexy fig, but not sure it's $40 sexy.

Re: Nintendo Switch: Building a New Generation of Hardware from Scratch
Nah...keep jacking the prices up on those Amiibo. It's working out in our favor because now nobody's buying them and they're going on clearance quickly even occasionally below the initially announced retail price.
I'm definitely down for that Virtual Boy accessory! One of my biggest regrets is not getting the VB when I saw it on clearance at Kmart for $30 :brickwl2: Now I can finally own a "Virtual Boy"! .......for the low low price of..............$100!!!!!!! Ugh.....and since this is a Nintendo exclusive it's not likely to get clearanced out......damn Nintendo.....This is just a plastic shell right??? I was thinking $50 maybe $60. But I fully admit I'm part of the problem. I'm definitely thinking about a physical release of Mario Galaxy 1&2 which of course would double dip with my 3D all stars cart. Other thoughts:
Also lol at ANOTHER Kirby Air Riders Direct  Sakurai is living up to his Diva reputation. |
Re: Nintendo Switch: Building a New Generation of Hardware from Scratch
I was super disappointed in that Yoshi trailer. Looked way too kiddie. Those old Yoshi games were legit great platformers.

Re: Nintendo Switch: Building a New Generation of Hardware from Scratch
I want one for posterity. So I can say I own every Nintendo console. Definitely not for gaming. I thought it sucked even back then. That's why I didn't buy it when I saw it on clearance. The short demo at Best Buy was enough to convince me to wait for the N64.

Re: Nintendo Switch: Building a New Generation of Hardware from Scratch
The problem (for me) with the Virtual Boy accessory is that it's an accessory that can only play games on a service, not games you can actually buy.
|
Re: Nintendo Switch: Building a New Generation of Hardware from Scratch
I barely use my PSVR2, and that plays games that are a hell of a lot better than anything on the Virtual Boy. Cool idea for an accessory, but no thanks

Which would be perfectly fine if it was priced that way. $50 would have been perfect with all the stipulations it comes with. As it is at $100!!! (Seriously WTF Nintendo) -eek- for a plastic shell to play 14 mediocre, at best, old experimental games that are only available through a subscription service is an extremely difficult pill to swallow. Seriously for $100 they could have made a standalone version of the VB. Remember when the NES classic was $80 preloaded with a bunch of games???? Feels like forever ago now. |
Re: Nintendo Switch: Building a New Generation of Hardware from Scratch
I remember the Virtual Boy was practically being given away at $25 once it was a bust. For $100 now, it would be nice to have the controller at least.
