Re: Nintendo Switch: Building a New Generation of Hardware from Scratch
Zombies Ate My Neighbors and Ghoul Patrol are coming to Switch.

Re: Nintendo Switch: Building a New Generation of Hardware from Scratch
My wife and I put in a lot of hours on Zombies back in the day when we were younger.

Damn... Can't decide if I'll grab this now, or wait for the GOTY edition...

Re: Nintendo Switch: Building a New Generation of Hardware from Scratch
Played a few hours of Miitopia this morning and such a fun RPG. The level of creativity that people have making detailed Mii's in this is insane. My party is currently Momo, Blinx the Time Sweeper, and Shantae.

Re: Nintendo Switch: Building a New Generation of Hardware from Scratch
Switch replacement announcement imminent? A bit more reliable of a source then the usual rumors.
Nintendo Co. plans to begin assembly of its new Switch as soon as July and release the upgraded replacement for its four-year-old game console in September or October, people familiar with the matter said. The new console, likely to be priced higher than the $299 original, may be announced ahead of the E3 conference starting June 12 to allow publishers to showcase their full range of Switch games at the global event, the people said, asking not to be named because the plans are not yet public. It will be sold alongside the $199 Switch Lite, with the standard Switch phased out over time. |
Re: Nintendo Switch: Building a New Generation of Hardware from Scratch
I think it makes sense to refresh the hardware and have it out by Xmas (as long as they can ramp up supply), I'm not that enamored with these "mid cycle upgrades" unless there's full backward compatibility and even then, we've seen with the DSi and the "New" 3ds that only a few games really take advantage of this, and by the time the older consoles are truly phased out it's probably time for the next full iteration. If this is some kind of seamless upgrade for most games, then cool!

The rumor mill is currently buzzing about a Thursday reveal with preorders starting at midnight afterwards.

Re: Nintendo Switch: Building a New Generation of Hardware from Scratch
How are they going to launch a new console while the semiconductor shortage is still in full swing?

Re: Nintendo Switch: Building a New Generation of Hardware from Scratch
I hope the new system will play all games and not have exclusive stuff just for the new console. We have four Switches and do not want to have to buy another one.

Re: Nintendo Switch: Building a New Generation of Hardware from Scratch
If the rumor is true they are keeping the switch lite around, so it should be fully backward compatible like the "new" 3ds and the dsi. Like I said, the main thing is going to be, how many developers are really going to put extra things in their game to take advantage of the new system while not alienating all the ones with old systems?

No doubt though we'll be seeing exclusives on certain games to utilize the upgraded hardware.
Either way, let's be honest, I'm in. I'm still going to run up on that digital games limit, though. |

I'd be happy if the new Switch was just enough of an upgrade to run handheld at docked resolution and frame rates without affecting current battery life.
But it's hard to imagine the resolution ever completely matching since the screen is a limiting factor. |
Re: Nintendo Switch: Building a New Generation of Hardware from Scratch
Main thing I want is better battery life. An upgraded screen would be nice too, but is a secondary concern for me.

I just want them to fix the designs of the blasted joycon sticks...

Too many bulletproof sources have said that a Pro is imminent for me to doubt that, but as for when it'll be revealed...yeah. |
Re: Nintendo Switch: Building a New Generation of Hardware from Scratch
Man, finally another Advance Wars. It's just a remaster of 1 and 2 but still it's something. That and side scrolling Metroid Dread are the highlights of today's direct for me.
Also no new switch pro announcement yet. :) |
