Like actually hitting the brakes once in awhile? I think what kills me is it's much harder to pull away from the pack at 200 cc so you're always involved in all the chaos of the items. So just one random slipup of the three races even if you have a perfect run otherwise is all it takes to ruin your chances of three starring the cup.

In addition to very occasionally and strategically letting off the gas, the main techniques are variations of the power slide: brake-sliding (tapping/pressing the brake while in a power slide) and tight-sliding (power sliding with the analog stick at about 5:00 or 7:00 depending on turn direction, instead of 3:00 or 9:00, for a tighter slide turn). I don't know what those techniques are really called, but that's how I refer to them. Once you get the hang of all that, you can take turns faster and it's a little eaiser to pull away a little bit. It's also pretty key to know the tracks well and leverage shortcuts.

Boo! All the discounted games (so far) that I'd want, I already have.

I wouldn't mind Tennis or Zelda but if any system begs to be "all digital," it's the Switch. So I'll patiently wait for a digital deal.

Yeah, me too. Nintendo has trained me to jump on their games early because of lack of sales. The bright side is that it's not like I paid that much more for them.

Also, Amazon at least has the digital versions on sale for some of them but they're 5 bucks more.

FWIW, Zelda is $40 for digital as well.

I'm tapped out from the PS5 launch though, so I'll have to get in on the next one.

I have over 40 games on my wishlist, mostly indie games - so I hope a good number of those will be on sale for BF.

I just played through Part-Time UFO on Switch and highly recommend it. It's a game from HAL (Kirby and BoxBoy people and it's got easter eggs from both of those series in here) that was originally released on mobile back in 2017 that they added stuff to and released last month on the Switch. It's a few hours long to get through the main story but then it unlocks different modes to play and each level has hidden objectives to do also. Really cute physics puzzle game.

I got Pikmin yesterday and I put 25 minutes in and I was pleasantly surprised. Got it from Gamefly. Not gonna buy it. I'll play it til I can't beat an enemy and then send it back.

Got Stardew Valley. Started just clearing everything and having a blast, and every once in a while I got "tired" and it put me in bed and started a new day and off I went until it sent me to bed again. This is great, just work work work! Finally saw I had mail and checked it. You fainted, we took you to the er and charged you money. Oh well, just once, won't do it again. Charged you again. And again. Someone came and stole stuff. Stole more stuff. More stuff. Well shit.

Restarting after 20 minutes.

I love this game. This is going to be 100 hours for sure.

I want to keep playing Xenoblade but I'm stuck on Xord, even on casual. I know I only have to get 25% of him, and to use the minions to charge up a chain attack, and use green and pink to topple and break, and then Monado, but I just can't do it.

Got Mario Kart for $38.xx at Best Buy after tax and personal discount, will have in a few days. Couldn't get the free case since they ran out.

PixelJunk Eden 2
Release date: December 10th, 2020
Pre-order: Nintendo.com (pre-order discount at $10, $15 SRP)

One of my favorite games on the PS3 is getting a Switch sequel. This is one of a handful of games from the PS3 I wish devs would remaster for PS4/PS5. I'd gladly rebuy it to be able to play it again without hooking up the old system. Glad to see a sequel though. Hopefully it retains all the magic of the original (that I never finished).

Also, I already pre-ordered. I don't think I've ever pre-ordered a game so quick. It didn't hurt that I had some Nintendo coins bringing it down to $5.

Also in finding this news, I also found out the developer made an Android game called Eden Obscura for those that are fans like me. Downloading now. I'll probably check it out later.

So the Switch is currently reigning supreme in our house right now. I’m being pressed to get one, but I’ll probably pick up a regular Switch. For those who who both Switch and Lite, do they work well together, like with Mario Kart and other multiplayer games? We have 3 Lites, to add to the regular Switch I’ll be picking up.

The regular switch basically does everything the Lite does but more (ie: docking). So if you're happy with how the Lites play with each other I can't think of a downside to adding a regular switch. I mean you already know about the whole digital license thing, which is probably the most confusing part.

I'm getting the third switch for my household and I'm going to have to either start buying more carts or double dipping on some of the digital games. I already have to buy another copy of Animal Crossing because of this.

Remember that you will all need your own copy of the game to play them against each other on your own Switches. No local co-op besides using individual controllers on the TV with a docked Switch

Yep, we already have 3 copies of Animal Crossing, so the new Switch will make 4 copies. Nice to know Nintendo will be doing fine based on my family sales alone.

So what about the new Mario Kart Home Circuit? How would that work? Just the one copy to allow multiple players to play?

The game is “free”, but you would each need your own Cart to race.

Sounds like Nintendo hit paydirt making multiplayer cost $50+ per game. Definitely dwarfs Live and PS+ by comparison.

Digital copies work similar to Xbox and PS (ie: you can use it on two different systems at the same time). Physical copies obviously have the same limitations (1 at a time). All of them need multiple subscriptions (or a family sub) to get online. Nintendo's is much cheaper for just the online part but also the least functional.

The main difference is that these systems are portable so households probably have multiples. Otherwise, what's the 50 multiplayer complaint?

you can only use digital licensed content on 2 systems at same time if the purchaser (i.e. primary account), is the one using it on the non-primary Switch.

Right, just saying there's a way to do it. I'm pretty sure that's how xbox works as well for dual consoles. Playstation I think you don't have to deal with primary consoles but you can only have two at a time.

edited to add: actually, looking it up it seems like the Playstation has the same limitation, you have to be logged into your account on the secondary system.

We are getting our third switch for my daughter to have her own AC island, which meant I had to buy a second copy of the game. And I just realized that for stuff like Pokemon and Splatoon 2, even though I have the cart, I have to buy the DLC again. Ugh.

Yep, going through this now with AC and Splatoon.
