Re: Nintendo Switch: Building a New Generation of Hardware from Scratch

I have a ton of games on my "wish list" in the Nintendo store, and unless it's some urgent must-have, I wait for a decent sale on the game (over 10% off) before buying. Lately, I've noticed less and less games go on sale, and less often too. What's up with that?

If by 2019 one you mean the red box one with the better battery, then yes, the Switch is still the same exact size. If you're talking about the Lite, then no, that's a different size but they have a version for that as well.

I don't think less games are going on sale, maybe it's just the ones you're looking at?

First party games rarely go on sale and even then it's only a small percentage off. This maybe happens three or four times a year. But otherwise, for instance, Bandai/Namco always seems to have a sale, the Steamworld games, there's a ton of stuff that's been on sale fairly recently. I think twice in the last six months there were so many at one time that the eshop notifier on twitter couldn't keep up:

I meant the red box with the better battery. Thanks!

Also memory is pretty much a non issue if you delete games when you're finished with them. It's only an issue for people who want to keep every game they've ever owned downloaded on their system at all times. Just like PS4 and Xbox One I only keep the few games I'm playing downloaded and have never gotten close to running out of storage space.

I have an SD card with over 250 gigs on it - that's not a ton for, say, the PS4, but it's practically limitless space for the Switch.

Does Nintendo let you redownload at will like Sony & MS?

I am unaware of any gaming platform that doesn't let you redownload at will.

I'm unaware of a world where Nintendo has gotten an online system "right" yet.

Yeah not this one. You can re-download to the same system with ease, but sharing the same content on two different systems tied to the same account is significantly limited and difficult, especially if more than one person plays on the system.

Re: Nintendo Switch: Building a New Generation of Hardware from Scratch

I'm kind of intrigued by what Best Buy has been doing today. Every few hours, another little burst of consoles goes up and quickly sells out. I wonder if that's their way of trying to deal with the bots: like, spacing out a bunch of little meals instead of letting them go whole hog on one giant feast. At least on my end, it worked. My family's been trying to get my kid sister a Switch as a high school graduation gift for months, and I was at long last able to get an order in for her today. So if you're in the market, keep checking bestbuy.com, and maybe you'll get lucky too.

It is nonsense that this even has to go to arbitration. Nintendo never took responsibility for this drifting issue and it seems like they do not want to.

Re: Nintendo Switch: Building a New Generation of Hardware from Scratch

So, when a game has a patch or an update, does it download onto the actual game card or does it use the storage space on the Switch? Right now I'm buying the physical versions of Super Mario Odyssey, Animal Crossing, and Fire Emblem: Three Houses. I was going to put off buying additional storage for another month's budget unless you all think I need it for those games.

It uses the storage space on the switch. The game cart is read only. Game saves also go onto the storage space on the switch.

There's even some carts where the full game isn't on it, so you have to download and store the rest of the game. Not the games you mentioned, I don't think, but something like LA Noire.

For anyone who doesn't already have it, the eShop is selling the Gold Edition of Mario + Rabbids Kingdom Battle Gold Edition for $19.99 (75% off). That includes the full game, some extra equipment and the Donkey Kong Adventure DLC

It's a very fun, surprisingly deep Tactics-based RPG game accessable to everyone. So, so worth it at that price

Thanks for the information. That's a bit disappointing though. If you buy a game, it should have a full game on the cart. It looks like my Switch will have 32 GB on it. That should last me for another month so I can buy a card. Three games, a pro controller, a switch, screen protector, online service subscription, plus extended warranties on the switch and controller has me tapped out for this month.

I don’t know, Nintendo very quickly replaced both my out of warranty Joy-Cons, no questions asked. Have they stopped doing that to need a lawsuit?

Re: Nintendo Switch: Building a New Generation of Hardware from Scratch

I think it is that they are trying to quietly fix them without admitting fault. They should honestly inform all of their customers instead of having some users out there who don't read discussion forums, etc. and simply go out and unnecessarily buy a replacement controller because they believe they are responsible for the controller doing that. It is dishonest behavior by a company knowing a problem exists but not admitting it.

A dock for a Switch, or a Switch with Dock (as opposed to a Switch Lite)?

They're hard to find right now. I looked for one for a month. They have been randomly coming in stock at Best Buy if you check there frequently. I signed up for alerts on https://www.stockinformer.com/checke...switch-console and was able to get one at Amazon.

Thanks! I've been looking for about a month myself.
