Patrick Klepek (formerly of Kotaku, now of Vice Games):
"ReCore is the most PlayStation 2 video game I've played in years. That's both a compliment and a problem."
Hmm. I've heard that the loading times are terrible, which is a big turn-off. Sadly, I'll probably skip this one.

Up to two minutes to respawn? Yeah no thanks.

Re: ReCore (XO, PC - 9/13/16)
Ran around for a little over an hour or so tonight, enough to finish the first dungeon. Honestly, I really enjoyed it although the reviews had mentioned the game starts off pretty well. The character movement, platforming, and combat are all pretty well done and fun to play. My biggest gripe is that the gameplay mechanics don't really have any rhyme or reason to them, and i'm really doing things just because the game says so rather then having there be an actual narrative behind them.
Things like collecting cores, color matching, and whatever don't really make much sense or are really explained in the scope of the world you're in, and I really wish there was more story to the game other then starting off and the game telling you to go in a particular direction.
The load times are pretty long, but aren't actually that bothersome to me yet.

Just tried the XBox Anywhere feature with this game... brought an XBox One controller to work and installed the game via the Windows Store. Only annoying thing was having to be on a more recent Windows 10 version, even slightly newer then the Anniversary Edition.
But after getting that taken care of, I was able to login to my profile and progress resumed easily enough. Also, load times are much better on PC

I was meaning to start this on Tuesday but I've been too wrapped up in The Minish Cap to want to play anything else. I'm near the end so I'll start Recore up this weekend.

Re: ReCore (XO, PC - 9/13/16)
Well, never mind. I'm at a point now where I'm being swarmed by enemies that can literally kill you in one to two hits which then sends you into a 2 minute reload screen every single time. I've also had to manually reload the game twice because it flat out didn't spawn in sections of a dungeon, and another time because the checkpoint was spawning me in an instant death loop.
There is a lot to like in this game, but the technical issues are really killing it for me. Shame.

I played through the first three or so hours today which is supposed to be the best part of the game and I found even that pretty mediocre so I'm really scared about what it's going to look like 5 hours from now. The combat is decent but the platforming isn't designed well even though your character movement is fine. No minimap is my most hated thing though especially when you're constantly needing to use your map and you have to make 5 button presses to bring it up.

Lol. That's my bad. I play more on the PS4 controller where that button is "share" so I didn't even remember to try and press it.

I'm now about 7 hours in and I want to like this more but it's actively fighting me. I really like the robot buddies and the core extraction systems. They needed to polish up the combat though. Your character dies in like two hits whenever you get swarmed by more then three enemies. I regularly will get shot by something off screen and insta-die which is doubly annoying since you have to wait 2-3 minutes to respawn.

Haven't had much time to keep playing this lately. Patch for load times coming soon.

With that said, we want you to know that we’ve been listening closely, and the number one thing you’ve mentioned you’d like to see improvements on is load times. We heard you, we appreciate your patience, and we have good news!
An update will be released this week for Xbox One and Xbox One S that will improve load times on those platforms. Keep in mind, some areas may continue to take more time than expected to load because they are larger zones, but we hope this update improves your overall experience traveling through Far Eden.

We’ve continued to get great feedback as you play ReCore, and we have more good news to share. On October 5th, we’ll be releasing a significant update to ReCore for Xbox One, Xbox One S, and Windows 10.
In this update, you will experience decreased loading times, see audio and visual improvements, and notice improvements to issues you may have experienced with waypoints, achievement tracking, collision locations, checkpoints and respawn points.
And for anyone who has experienced a Window 10 issue where the full game of ReCore downloads again during an update, a separate Windows fix is available now. All Windows 10 players are encouraged to download the Windows update (Version 1607) immediately to avoid this issue.

Why are they indicating the Xbox One S like it is a different platform?

Re: ReCore (XO, PC - 9/13/16)
The IGN article says differently. Says the 5th corebot is free for previous Recore owners but not the complete definitive edition. It says previous owners only get the Definitive Edition for free if they also buy a Xbox One X.
That can't be right.
