On the day that Kobe Bryant will play his final NBA game, 2K Sports announced that the Lakers superstar and 18-time All-Star will grace the cover of a special version of NBA 2K17 called the "Legend Edition."

This version of the professional basketball game will include all manner of Kobe-themed digital and physical content (see below).

"It's a great honor to partner with 2K on the NBA 2K17 Legend Edition," Bryant said in a statement. "As I walk off the NBA court for the final time, it's exciting to know my fans can continue to celebrate my lifelong career as a Los Angeles Laker."

The $80 Legend Edition comes with physical and digital content, including:

Physical Items:
•Limited-edition Kobe poster;
•Two Kobe Panini trading cards;
•Black Mamba game controller skin.

Digital Content:
•30,000 Virtual Currency;
•MyTEAM Bundle + (includes 3 packs with guaranteed Kobe limited use card);
•Nike Kobe 11 retirement shoes;
•Kobe #8 Mitchell and Ness jersey;
•Kobe hoodie.

The Legend Edition will be available in digital and physical formats, but digital buyers will only receive the digital content.

I don't really see anything worth 20 bucks in there, but I've never really been a fan of digital clothes in the NBA games, since I never have spare VC to waste on them.

I have more VC then I know what to do with in 2K16 since you need to actually earn upgrades to actually spend them on.

Same here. I wasn't planning on buying NBA 2K17 but all that changed when I saw they were offering a Kobe Bryant Legend Edition. I've been a Lakers fan all my life so this one is a no brainer. This is coming from some who has never bought a special edition of a video game.

So I guess everyone's going to be playing as the Warriors online.

An alternate version with Tim Duncan (if he does retire) would be nice.

I'm not going to bump up the 2K16 thread, so I'll post in this one.

Got 2K16 as the free game and I'm really loving it. Last one I had was 2K11.

I started mostly with My Team, since I always like the Ultimate Team in the EA games. Nice that I was able to buy up really great players without spending any actual money(unlike with EA).

I switched to My Career. I'm a shooting guard who resembles Captain Caveman. I like my black family lol. I actually didn't mind the whole Livin' the Dream stuff.

Did well in HS and went to UConn. Won the Championship there and was taken 11th overall by the Pacers.

I screwed up with the negotiations by asking for more money three times and ended up with the Knicks at less money lol.

Finally got my first start and had my best game with 20 points. Was player of the game

I've got online with My Park a few times. It's fun, but tough when you're playing guys that have been playing this game(and the previous ones) so much.

I like how you really have to learn basketball to do well. I still struggle at times, but I think I'm improving.

2K17 will be on my radar. I'll wait to hear how you guys like it compared to 16.

Hopefully they go back to the original format. The Spike Lee stuff was brutal.

I just picked the game up yesterday and started my Career. I'm 3 games into my rookie year and I also was drafted by the Pacers at 11. I averaged 19 ppg in college and lost in the championship game. I attended UCLA.

I'll keep your negotiations in mind tonight when I play. I am hoping for an offer from the Bulls.

Agreed this Spike Lee Joint is pure crap. The cut scenes are way too long and are so boring. The one on one interviews with the family make me want to stab a fork in my eye.

Not me! I went 12th to the Wizards. I love that I get drafted that late and they do the whole story mode acting like you're the best draft pick ever.

I also moved on to play with the Knicks. Melo NEVER fucking passes. Anytime I pass the ball to him he holds it and does some Iso moves before scoring (he does usually score). It's so frustrating when you're trying to rack up assists.

Can't say the game isn't realistic, I suppose.

Left after one year to play for the Lakers. But I earned enough VC where my rating was high enough to demand the ball whenever I wanted.

I chose to be a PG that way I always have the ball to start off the possession. I was a SG for 2K15 and it was frustrating when the computer would completely freeze me out.
