Shit, I only came to see if this was a regular game as opposed to those MMPORG ones or whatever.

Isn't that just FF "Pokemon"? No thanks!

It's more just old school Final Fantasy although now you can catch enemies and have them fight along side you.

I love old school FF, but I'm an anti-social gamer and I refuse to pay a monthly fee for any one game, so that's two strikes against XIV right off the bat.

No one has mentioned FFXIV.

You're absolutely right, for some reason I thought I read "A Realm Reborn" somewhere in this thread, and that that's what you guys were talking about, but it's nowhere.

I'm looking into this world of FF now, which I wasn't aware of, and now I'm thinking that I should totally use this to introduce JRPG's to my kids, who are 6 and 7.

Couldn't you do that in one of the XIII trilogy as well?

Any word on a PC release for this?

Anyone know if this will be on sale anytime this week or on BF?

It doesn't even come out until the 29th. I don't think there are going to be any pre-sale sales.

I haven't seen anything, there's a few quotes online about how it would take a year to port to PC but nothing substantial.

Square-Enix seems to have made a push to get most of the FF releases on Steam though, I feel like this would show up eventually.

It is (at present) the last active game with a $10 Reward Certificate with pre-order at Best Buy. $38 with GCU isn't bad.

I just bought X and X-2 as a combo on Steam at the beginning of the month so I'm ok on JRPG atm, though I would appreciate an eventual release.

Sounds like that's the route I'll be taking. Thanks.

I still have a PS4 version preordered from Amazon. I wonder when reviews for this hit.

Some places have already sold some copies. Leaked videos are starting to come out.

Are the fights real-time or turn-based (or a hybrid of the two)?

Also, is there required grinding? If so, I'm out. I ain't got time for shit like grinding any more!

From Gamespot review :

There's a lot to manage in combat--despite only having direct control over Noctis as opposed to your entire party--which makes for a satisfying juggling act once you understand the game's demanding pace and the extent of your abilities. Though you can pause the action to re-equip characters and use items mid-battle, combat is otherwise a non-stop, fluid process and very different from previous Final Fantasy systems. Unlike Final Fantasy XII which allows you to dictate the behavior of your companions, you have to rely on AI to ensure your allies have your back in Final Fantasy XV. The only time you can issue direct commands is when they deal enough damage and fill up a meter, and you call upon the one ability you assigned to them.
By holding down a button, Noctis will deliver a combo attack until he's interrupted by an enemy. If you're quick, you can press another button to phase through an incoming attack and continue your assault. Noctis can also warp-attack from great distances, swap between four weapons--mid-combo if need be--, cast magic, and on rare occasions, summon god-like Astrals onto the battlefield to mop up enemies.

Astrals are powerful beings that align with Noctis throughout the story, to be summoned later in a time of need. They offer some of the most impressive moments in the game--typical of Final Fantasy "summons"--towering high above battles while unleashing incredible displays of power. But much like distant friends, you only see Astrals when it works for their schedule. Each of the four Astrals you acquire call for very specific battle conditions, but even if all criteria are met--being dangerously low on health in the vicinity of water, in one case--there's no guarantee an Astral will actually appear. Where you could always count on summons to save the day in previous Final Fantasy games, it's disheartening that they usually fail to appear during Final Fantasy XV's most difficult battles.

Jesus. Wasn't this thing delayed so they wouldn't have a giant patch day one?

I'm just glad I bought it digitally. I'd hate to get home from the store tomorrow only to have to wait for it all to download. I'll be ready to play right at midnight.

I assume stuff didn't fit on the disc so they made it a patch

I wouldn't call XIII total shite. It takes a while to open up but it's a solid game. It's got a metacritic rating of over 8. I bet XV ends up lower than that.
