Han Solo requires 145 shards to unlock at 5*. His abilities and details are secret until someone unlocks him except for:
Shoots First (Unique): Han takes a bonus turn at the start of each encounter. During this turn, he can only use his Basic ability, but it will Stun the target for 1 turn.

With regards to starting the raid, does it start at Tier 1 or can you automatically start one at Tier 6? Also, how much does it cost to start at the various tiers?

It appears we can start wherever we want, besides T7, assuming we can afford it.
T1 = 30,000
T2 = 34,000
T3 = 38,000
T4 = 42,000
T5 = 46,000
T6 = 55,000 (big jump, but must be done to unlock T7)
