Plus, it allowed the ability to perform trades/roster moves with it's battery backup in the cartridge.

You could hold this one week later, and half of these would change. It's the nature of the beast. I did also include a couple of honorable mentions too.
1. River City Ransom (NES)
2. Fable II (360)
3. Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim (360)
4. Legend of Zelda (NES)
5. Wolfenstein 3d (PC and everywhere else)
6. Final Fantasy I (NES)
7. X-Com: UFO Defense/Enemy Unknown (PC/360)
8. Dracula X (PCE)
9. Phantasy Star (SMS)
10. Toukon Retsuden 3 (PSX)
HM: Tales from the Borderlands (Xbox One) - I had to include this one as I'm only through two episodes and it sports one of the best stories I have enjoyed ever.
HM: Sam & Max: Hit the Road (PC) - Even though the gameplay was extremely basic, the characters and story would stick with me until this very day. I dearly love the short lived animated show. It frustrates me to no end that they want $20 each for the games on Xbox 360 (and little chance at BC).

^ Yeah, unfortunately Sam and Max is on page 39 of the "requested BC titles". Still, Telltale may like not having to port it themselves.

I like how much love Bloodborne is getting. It turned out to be pretty amazing for a game that I was apprehensive about playing.

I'm sure this could be a list where the more I think about it the more I add/change things. But the top choices are definitely the Heroes of Might and Magic franchise. I have played at least one of the first four games of that series constantly since 1995, putting in perhaps a billion hours. I keep meaning to try versions 5 or beyond but never do.
Here's my list:
1. Metroid
2. Final Fantasy 7
3. Fallout 3
4. Bioshock
5. Battlefield 1942
6. Uncharted 2
7. Mass Effect 2
8. Civilization 4
9. Starcraft
10. HOMM3
I logged in the most hours with Starcraft multiplayer. Played over 10,000 matches and it's the main reason why I have a massive game backlog. lol Still an amazing multiplayer experience.

it was my introduction to the Souls series and going back and playing the older ones was tough after plowing through Bloodborne for 3 months. It's just such a tightly paced game with amazing combat. I'm looking forward to Dark Souls 3, which hopefully incorporates some elements of BBs gameplay into that universe.

NBA Live 95 (Sega Genesis) -- 1st great Hoops game
World Series Baseball (Sega Genesis)
NBA Jam (Arcade/Sega Genesis)
Doom (Sega 32X)
NFL 2K5 (Sega Genesis)
Mortal Kombat
Street Fighter 2 (Sega Genesis)
Tecmo Bowl/Tecmo Super Bowl (NES)
NBA 2K16/2K15 (PS4) -- Tie for my favorite next gen Hoops game.
Kung Fu (NES)
As you can tell, I'm much more of a sports gamer, especially hoops. Surprised none of you listed a 16 bit or next gen licensed sports game.

I played a good bit of Links 386 as well. And even though it was not quite as popular, Jack Nicklaus 6 and the course editing options were pretty darn spiffy. I know a few games have rumored it (course creation) to be happening for the console. I would love to see it. It would get me into Console golfing again (I haven't played one in at least half a dozen years).
Edit: turns out, The Golf Club for Xbox One does the whole course creation thing pretty well. I ended up snagging an used copy from Gamestop for $20 and it's been quite worth it so far.

Re: Your Top 10 Games of All-Time?
I find it difficult to narrow this down to 10 games and how to actually classify it as 10. There have been some games that at the time i thought were technical marvels and kept me engrossed through to the end, however i felt no need to return to afterwards. The God of War series was a perfect example. Plus, as i am pretty much a first generation gamer and have had countless computers and consoles over the decades it means i have played thousands of games. So to narrow it to 10 is tough. So i am going with a list where the game was excellent on first play, brought me back playing the most hours thereafter and by the end of my last play i was still perfectly happy to return to the game....and still do to some extent.
1. Unreal Tournament / Unreal Tournament 3 (PC). People chose this or Quake. For me it was no competition. This game was and i believe still is the best online multiplayer game of all time. I still play the original game on my PC and the offline play with bots is also superb. I know a free updated version of this game is being made, but would love to see a full blown release with tonnes of updates. Just more like 3 rather than the 2003/2004 version.
2. Just Cause 2 (PS3). Literally hundreds of hours spent on this game and the single best sandbox third person game ever in my opinion.
3. Skyrim (PS3). Even with lots of problems with the release when it came out on the PS3 i still stuck with it and loved it. Also loved Oblivion, but Skyrim did more with what it had.
4. GTA San Andreas (PS2). Sure GTA V is basically the same game, but San Andreas created a better world. V just made it look better.
5. Damocles (Commodore Amiga). It still amazes me that they managed to fit not just an entire world, but an entire solar system with planets and moons to explore on a single 1mb 3.5 inch floppy disk. Superb game as well.
6. Tetris (Gameboy). Such a simple game but addictive as hell.
7. Street Fighter II (Arcade). Stands the test of time and still an amazing fighting game.
8. Counter Strike Source (PC). The other online game that reigns supreme. Just an awesome game.
9. Deus Ex (PC). Simply a fantastic game that gave the player true choices for the first time.
10. Metal Gear Solid: The Phantom Pain (PS4). I have never been into this series of games, but the open sandbox style of this last game really captured me. Its a fun game where i quickly got to the point where i can pick it up, play for 30 mins to an hour and have a blast wiping out a few bases and then move on, or i can play for several hours going through missions. Highly polished game.
I would have actually replaced MGS with the Witcher III, but as i had Skyrim on the list i wanted to only include one of those huge sandbox style fantasy games. Not taking anything away from the Witcher which i think is superb in every way.

WCW/NWO No Mercy is the only game where I could want a horribly crappy system for one single game. I would kill for a modern day port (even using generic wrestlers).
Ultima 3, I had no idea what I was doing but I put 30-40 hours in that game no problem. Fun rpg, and very addictive.

Re: Your Top 10 Games of All-Time?
my biggest RBI baseball achievement was on the arcade version (i had a stand up arcade game of it in my garage at one time) I was Catfish Hunter vs the greatest Yankees of all time. I got 27 strikeouts in a row only using Catfish. His ball movement was so good, you could still hit the unhittable corner of the strike zone after 8 innings (with 25 mph fastballs, lol).
On the NES version, my favorite team was the Mets but i often played as the Cardinals because they had some really fast base runners (vince Coleman, Ozzie Smith, willie mcgee).
