Needs more Bloodborne, Witcher 3, and Rise of the Tomb Raider.

People who tell others what needs to be on their own favorite lists are the scourge of the internet.

Re: The Questyen's Top Twenty of 2015

Jim Sterling released his top games of 2015 on YouTube and listed Undertale at #1. People of course ripped into him for not putting their favorites at #1.

I bought Rapture in a recent sale but haven't tried it yet. In your honor, Q, I will try it soon. Also want to dig into Life is Strange soon.

Glad to see Fallout 4 made it so high on your list. As flawed as it is (not talking about just the bugs during release either) it's still one of the greatest games I've ever played.

Re: The Questyen's Top Twenty of 2015

Nice variety, don't necessarily agree with a chunk of the list but it's nice to see some smaller games getting a bit of love.

I didn't like Rapture nearly as much but it was a neat idea.

Re: The Questyen's Top Twenty of 2015

There's a difference between "Best of the year" and "My Best of the year" list. When the author explains why that game is in his favorite list, that makes the article worth reading. I think Quest did a good job here doing that.

For example if you are making a "Best of the year" list you have to include Fallout 4. It doesn't matter if you like it, or get bored. The game received several awards, it's really popular among fans, etc. there's no way it shouldn't be included in the list.

That'd just be the highest rated of the year, which would more or less look like:

1. Grand Theft Auto V (PC)*
2. Journey (PS4)*
3. Undertale (PC)
4. The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt (Multi)
5. Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain (Multi)
6. Bloodborne (PS4)
7. Legend of Zelda: Majora's Mask 3D (3DS)*
8. Super Mario Maker (Wii U)
9. Fallout 4 (Multi)
10. Pillars of Eternity (PC)
11. Forza 6 (XONE)
12. Ori and the Blind Forest (XONE)
13. Batman: Arkham Knight (Multi)
14. Crypt of the NecroDancer (PC)
15. The Talos Principle (Multi)
16. SteamWorld Heist (Multi)
17. Starcraft II: Legacy of the Void (PC)
18. Divinity: Original Sin Enhanced (Multi)*
19. Homeworld Remastered (PC)*
20. Monster Hunter 4 Ultimate (3DS)

* - Remake, Remaster, or Port of older title

Re: The Questyen's Top Twenty of 2015

Yeah, more or less. If it's "of the year", you remove all the remakes, remasters, etc. And then, for most websites, you know your audience, so you include one or two that you know were really popular in your site and it's not in the list.

Life is Strange is on sale on the One as the daily deal.

Rapture and Soma are on sale on PSN. Rapture is cheap enough, but I still feel like Soma will go down some.

Re: The Questyen's Top Twenty of 2015

I take all GOTY lists as people's own opinion. I'd hate it if people ranked games by default just because of high critic ratings, that would be ultimately boring and just as easy as looking at a metacritic list Rich said.

Thus it's always silly to me when people complain about whomever site's top game.

Re: The Questyen's Top Twenty of 2015

I know it's just semantics but I hate when sites/magazines put "Best of the Year" instead of "Favorite of the Year". If a site says Fallout 4 is the "best game of the year" then that is a definitive statement about something which a definitive statement should not be made about. They have not played every game so how can they say a certain game is the best. It just sounds stupid to me.

Nice list, Questyen! I enjoyed reading why you liked each particular game. Also, I agree with you that others should not tell someone what their favorite games, movies, etc. should be.

Except that this is a discussion forum, not a personal blog or website. People adding their opinion is kinda what this site is all about.

Re: The Questyen's Top Twenty of 2015

It's one thing to discuss the list but another to tell someone which games should be on his top 20 list. It's his list regardless of what website it is on. If someone else wants to make a list that includes "their" games then take the time to make the list and explain why those games are on there.

Re: The Questyen's Top Twenty of 2015

When one names the thread "Top 20" and not "Favorite 20" it implies a definitive nature which will garner disagreement and discussion.

So yeah, posting a list and expecting 100% agreement is absurd. The thread was fun but telling others they are the scourge of the internet for adding their two cents is a quick way to kill the thread and respect for anything that preceded it. Might as well have locked the thread after the list was done.

He didn't put his "two cents" he said my list of "my top games" should have had games he liked on them. That's not adding anything to the conversation. If he said "here are some of the games I loved this year and why I think you should try them" that would be a conversation.

Me stating my top movie is A Clockwork Orange and someone responding with it should be Casablanca isn't doing anything to inspire conversation it's just being obnoxious.

Re: The Questyen's Top Twenty of 2015

Maybe you can ask for some credit? From someone?
I started and finished Until Dawn. And I just bought Life is Strange.

I'm going to get Rapture eventually, it's on sale right now, but I'm sure there will be more sales in the future.

Fair enough, I thought it was just a lighthearted post, certainly not one that necessitated name calling.

I think part of the problem is no one has started a "GOTY 2015 Thread" where such discussions would take part. As your thread is the only one, it's bound to get some feedback, abbreviated or not.

Anyway, I did enjoy your list.
