5. Axiom Verge (PS4)
Axiom Verge is a Super Metroid inspired "Metroidvania" game with a cool Giger inspired look, a great soundtrack, and some awesome weapons. Once you get the "glitch gun" and you start experimenting with it the game really gets crazy. It's got a surprisingly deep story and it's difficulty level is perfect with just the right amount of challenge where I wasn't getting too frustrated.

So reading this list makes me wonder (want) why we don't have wish lists on both consoles so I could save them on my account for a later purchase. I'll have forgot them by the time I'm ready to buy.

Steam has the best option. Wishlist and it send you emails/reminders when the game is on sale.
I still remember when the Xbox Store was functional. Recently I tried to search for a game and almost went crazy trying to find the "Game" store, in my Xbox One.

4. Life is Strange (PS4)
Life is Strange is the perfect game for anyone who has gotten burnt out on the Telltale adventure game formula. Where Telltale has been stagnant in their design choices since The Walking Dead Dontnod comes in and makes a far more fun to play modern adventure game. The story and characters are top notch with great voice acting and it looks and runs really good. The rewind mechanic keeps you from having to rush through dialogue choices and is worked into the plot of the game really well. The quality between the episodes stayed consistent and at the end of each one they did a good job of having me anticipating the next.

I haven't really shared my thoughts on the X1 since buying but the the dash is a hot mess. Everyone said it's far better than what it launched with which is crazy. I'd hate to see that version.

3. Ori and the Blind Forest (XB1)
This is another game I almost skipped out on because of the reviews mentioning it being so difficult. I don't enjoy hard games so I was skeptical but everything else about it looked fantastic so I gave it a shot. The difficulty is way over sold in my opinion. Other then a few chase sequences which were tough the rest of the game was about average difficulty for these type of "Metroidvania" games and I never got frustrated. It looks amazing, has great character design and art direction, and controls like a dream which is very important for platformers. The opening is one of the best I've seen in a game and I liked their "set your own checkpoint" save system. My only complaint is there are a few areas (the chase sequences) that you can't return to and get stuff you missed but it looks like that's getting fixed in the "Definitive" update. If you have an XB1 you really should play this game.

I hopped on last night to redeem a 1600 point code to grab Ori before heading out to dinner. 10 minutes later I'm googling where the damn "redeem code" button is on the dash. Clusterfuck.

2. Fallout 4 (PS4)
I'm usually not a big open world fan but the Fallout games are one of those series that hooks me good. I love the universe they created, the characters have personality and there is tons of stuff to do. I've now probably played close to 100 hours worth and I still have fun just exploring buildings, unlocking parts of the map, scavenging stuff and taking it back for crafting.
It's got the usual open world jank and they should have fine tuned the settlement system more but otherwise a fantastic experience.

1. Everybody's Gone to the Rapture (PS4)
This game is not only my favorite of the year it's probably my favorite of the last five years. I wish I could delete it from my memory just so I could experience it again that's how much I loved it. The basic premise is you are exploring a small English town where all the residents have disappeared. It's a first person exploration game and the gameplay revolves around you exploring the town and trying to piece together what happened. The focus is on five main characters but as you explore there are side characters you learn about along the way. The game looks beautiful, the soundtrack is fantastic, and the plot had me as engrossed as a good BBC miniseries does requiring you to put stuff together and it doesn't over-explain stuff to you.
This game isn't for everyone. If you don't have an open mind for these type of games (story driven/no combat/short length) then I don't think this one is going to change you but it's easily the best video game experience I've had all year.

Re: The Questyen's Top Twenty of 2015
I played around 8 hours of Witcher 3 and quit. It wasn't bad or anything it's just if I'm going to spend 50+ hours playing a game I better like it alot and Witcher was doing nothing for me. As far as similar games go I far more enjoyed Dragon Age: Inquisition.
