I was kinda bummed at fist when it looked like Mario Maker was going with an 8-bit look/palate, but it seems like you can make it look 8-bit, 16-bit and even like the more recent "New SBM". Stoked for this - and the unlimited amount of levels that we'll be able to play.

Is it so hard to just put out another 2D Metroid-Vania game using current-gen assets? All they need to do is come up with a new map and story, done and done! |

It isn't a Metroid-vania when it's Metroid
But yeah I agree entirely. |
Re: The Official E3 Thread of Xbox One Superiority - June 16-18, 2015
Well that was a press conference that did not make me want to rush out and get a WiiU, that's for sure. Will be probably waiting out until I see Zelda now next year, and sticking with my XboxOne. Only things that I'm looking at for sure getting this year at least are the first 3:
Halo 5 Rare Collection Star Wars Battlefront Destiny (have not gotten the 2 expansions so perhaps sell my copy and then get the new set coming out with everything?) Tomb Raider ? (never really played but if get a great deal around holidays may pick it up based on reviews as it does look sweet) |

Pre-ordered three more.
Until Dawn - not even shown at E3 since it's out super soon, but I'm excited for this one now, and it was part of the 30% deal at amazon.CA Mirror's Edge: Catalyst Horizon: Zero Dawn DAMN these Canadian prices, though. |

Good, not great, showing from Nintendo. They've got some games, no real heavy hitters. Gimme Mario Maker though.
Only two new Wii U games were announced. Nintendo's lost their minigame mojo, and even by those low standards, that Animal Crossing board game looks awful. Not being sassy, but I thought Mario Tennis Ultra Smash was a 3DS game at first blush. It doesn't have Nintendo's trademark visual polish. Star Fox looks surprisingly GameCube-esque -- which I'm sure is at least to a point deliberate -- and I don't think the control scheme is going to be for me. It's single player only and is more linear than Star Fox games have been in the past. Super Mario Maker is intriguing, although I'm less excited than pretty much everyone else seems to be. Still excited for Yoshi's Woolly World, although it's dumb that we have to wait until October for it. It sure seems like Nintendo has already reshuffled a lot of their development resources to whatever's next, and they're just kinda riding the Wii U out. Crazy what a freefall this was from last year's phenomenal showing. |

Nintendo acknowledged -- in Japanese -- that the feedback that this Digital Event wasn't that great and that they'll aim to do better next time.

Yeah, I assumed we'd be seeing a shit ton of the new Zelda, and at least a reveal of a real Metroid game instead of the BS they showed. And teasing Yoshi is mean, considering it'll be out in other countries in just a week.
Still, I'm way stoked on Super Mario Maker! |

I was thinking that the NX, whatever it is, will launch in late 2016, and the Wii U death knell lineup in this digital event makes me even more certain that's the case. |

Hey remember when big video game companies used their E3 conferences to announce surprise console price cuts in order to increase flagging hardware sales?
Neither does Nintendo. :( |
Re: The Official E3 Thread of Xbox One Superiority - June 16-18, 2015
They should just announce an exclusive amiibo with every software launch, then count the money as it comes in. Oh wait, that's what chibi robo is, right?

It is kinda funny that the subject line turned out to be accurate, though!

There was no mention of the new PS4 model, was there? Is 1 TB even enough?

Re: The Official E3 Thread of Xbox One Superiority - June 16-18, 2015
Okay someone walk me through this since I missed their and Nintendo's conferences : Besides announcing Backwards Compatibility (two years later than would have been really useful, but admittedly cool and unexpected) and showing off a $150 Elite controller (rotfl), what exactly did MS do or show to win E3?
