Finally got around to trying this yesterday, it's visually pretty neat in spots.

Yeah, stopped by my local GS to quickly grab a game for a birthday gift and I noticed the same there. So it sold a lot, but will have zero staying power. Good job EA, you went and fucked what could've been a strong fun game-community.

Is it really true there's only six maps for the base game?

Re: Star Wars: Battlefront (2015)
So 3 weeks later, and Gamestop has a deal going on. If you buy Battefront this week (on sale for $40), you save $30 on the season pass. So you can get both for $60. I guess good for anyone that hasn't picked it up yet, but pretty shitty for everyone else.

Are you sure you're reading that right? I can see it only be an additional $10 savings when you buy both ... from a certain point of view.

Re: Star Wars: Battlefront (2015)
Maybe I'm reading the ad wrong? It says save $30 if you buy the season pass and the game is on sale for $40. Maybe someone will buy it and report back

Re: Star Wars: Battlefront (2015)
Ah, ok then, that's not as smokin as I thought. That ad is a little misleading (and could probably be used to price match at stores). Carry on.
I requested a copy at the library. I want to check out the other modes that were not in the beta.

Re: Star Wars: Battlefront (2015)
I just started playing this game around xmas (when i can get time on the xbox one). I'm up to level 10 and still loving it. I've mainly been playing the Jakku map where you try to take over/defend control points.
I have a few questions I cant google since most gaming sites are blocked here at work:
1- what are the "must have" guns? I was doing really crappy until i bought and switched to a different gun. Which guns should i save up for (when i reach levels that unlock them) and what ones should i pass on?
2- the season pass (which i dont have) will just give you access to new maps as they're released? with out it, you can still buy the maps if you want them, right?
3- there are some players that are super good. (like they get 40 kills while the 2nd-5th place people only have 15-18 kills). what are their secrets? just playing for millions of hours and being good with console FPS games?
4- whats the deal with your "partner"? just a character you can spawn by sometimes? do you get any bonus by sticking with them?

1 - I like the E-11, T-21 - medium-long range, and CA-87 for short range.
2 - not sure if they will sell them individually
3 - They've probably been playing a long time and know all the secrets for each map.
4 - the partner makes it easier to get back into the action quicker when spawning, also gives you a third "hand" to choose from

1. I rock with the DL44, Han Solo's blaster.
2. They probably will sell them individually. Don't most games do? CoD, Battlefield?
I still love the game as well.

you can use your partners hand? even if you havent unlocked the items yet?
my current gun is a long ranged slow gun with no scope. I like sniping since my aiming thumb sucks when i'm fighting in close quarters

I still play the hell out of this game too... I love Walker Assault and my son digs Hero Battle (??). I use the E-11 and then my hand is Barrage, Bounty Hunter (which is awesome) and Homing Missile. I probably get 7-8 kills per match using the homing missile alone.
I read this game will NOT get any Episode 7 content - which is a bummer but at least that means BF2 should have those characters / maps and hopefully fix some things that are clearly broken.
DaveNinja - something that might help you increase your score is to lock down points in bunkers and take out your enemies by hunkering down and using barrage / homing missile when you can unlock them. Nothing is more satisfying than taking down the baddies from way across the room and the explosion from the missile takes down 2-3 guys at a time.

I'm close to unlocking Bounty Hunter. Been using Scout for now. Is BH better than Scout? To me Scout's ability to stay off opponent's radar seems better than getting a powerup which are easily found around the map. What am I missing?
And yes, Barrage and Homing missile are great.
What do you use for your Charged card? I use Personal Shield.

I had Scout but found that getting power ups after a mini score streak was a nice benefit. After getting better at the game, maybe Scout is something I should revisit.
My charge card is making your gun a super charged blaster... I forget the name of it (not Ion though).

While I'm mostly playing Supremacy, Walker Assault and Turning Point, I've started throwing in more Cargo and Drop zone recently. I've had the game since launch and still play it almost daily.
I finally started mixing up my card sets (I have 5 set up for the various game types). I've been using the survivalist trait, but I think I'm about switch to Scout. It would go pretty well with my Smoke/Scan Pulse/Barrage card setup. Great for guarding points or mucking up choke points. Smoke is also handy for masking/capturing capture points since it hides your numbers and blocks any lock-on type of weapons.

^^ Yes, but that will be the only content tied to Ep 7. Allegedly.

And while Jakku is in Episode VII, the premise of the map is in-between VI and VII.

Re: Star Wars: Battlefront (2015)
So I just started playing this game, and while I think it's actually better than I expected it to be, I have one HUGE complaint (and it's pretty inexcusable if you ask me)...
This game has ZERO team balancing. Players are never switched to the other team. EVER. If you are on a crappy team, you will lose match after match as long as the players on opposing team don't quit out. Even if the teams are lopsided, it doesn't move players. That's utterly ridiculous.
I played a round of Drop Zone (8 vs 8). I got put in the game halfway through and the team was already down 3-0. I thought 'whatever' and finished out the round, inevitably losing 5-0. Next round starts, we proceed to get rolled again. I notice all the same players on the other team are killing me... again. Ok fine, we we lose that round too. I figure, maybe it'll balance out after this... NOPE. I check the player list during the break between rounds. More than half my team quits as expected, the same 8 guys remain on the other side. Then the next round starts. My team only has 4 people left after that last game. The other team still has all 8. And this fucking game started the next round 8 vs 4. Are you kidding me? It didn't move any of the other players over even though they had 8 players and we only had 4!!!! This game is primarily multiplayer, right? How can there be absolutely no team balancing?!?
