I'm looking forward to this. I never got into Disney Infinity because I just found it boring. But I just started becoming addicted to Legos after never touching them as a kid.

Saw that yesterday. Pretty cool they got Lloyd to promote the game.

$99 is a hard pill to swallow for the opening set.

'Eh, $80 with GCU which breaks down to $60 for the game and $20 for a 250 piece LEGO set. Not too egregious, just not really a deal.

The game looks pretty cool but I don't know if I want to invest the money in all the LEGO sets. I'm tempted by the sets for Back to the Future and The Simpsons though.

Hmm, so you can rebuild the little sets into three different configurations each, and they're different in game. That is pretty cool.

So just for fun, I went to Amazon and added the main game and all of the available sets and figures you can preorder now. The result, 24 items for a grand total of $474.64

I came up with 25 items at $504.63. That's a $29.99 difference which means you missed the BTTF pack.

They don't all come out on the game's launch date though which makes the whole thing a little more manageable. I actually placed the order for everything and will likely cancel certain items as the release date grows closer.

Regardless if they all come out at once or not, that's still a hell of a lot of money if you want to try and get everything. On top of that, some sets might be more limited than others due to the smaller shelf space dedicated at retail stores.

re: LEGO Dimensions (Multi-Console, 9/27/2015)

If you thought Lego would be cheap... the minifig tax alone comes into play with most of these sets.

I do think that retailers can't possibly give as much space as they have been to Skylanders, Infinity, Amiibos, and now Dimensions, I'm just hoping we don't see an Amiibo-like shortage/demand for these things. Lord forbid they put a highly desirable unique minifig in one of these.

The price isn't surprising. I'm prepared to shell out some cash. Hopefully, for my kids' sake the game is fun with only a few of the booster packs. All the Skylander games were enjoyable for them with only 5-6 figures purchased for each release.

Hopefully Best Buy's CGU works for these like Skylanfiniti figures.

Oh no. They have my money even more! Doctor Who's Peter Capaldi, Jenna Coleman and Michelle Gomez lend their voices to Lego Dimensions.

Doctor Who, which has never before been in a LEGO videogame, will be playable in the LEGO Dimensions Starter Pack with a complete Doctor Who level where the game’s heroes continue their quest while encountering Daleks, Cybermen and other adversaries from the Whoniverse.

Fans who want more Doctor Who in LEGO Dimensions will be able to purchase the Doctor Who Level Pack which includes an additional mission-based Doctor Who level, along with a LEGO minifigure of the 12th Doctor and LEGO models of the TARDIS and K-9, all playable in the game. When the 12th Doctor is defeated in the level, he returns as the 1st Doctor and then regenerates back up to the 12th Doctor again. The interior of the TARDIS will reflect the corresponding Doctor the player embodies or can be manually selected. There’s even a jukebox inside where players can choose among different versions of the Doctor Who theme music. The TARDIS and K-9 models can each be physically built and then rebuilt twice to do entirely different things in the digital game for massive variety.

There will also be a Doctor Who Fun Pack, which includes a playable Cyberman minifigure and Dalek model which can be physically built and then rebuilt twice for a total of three different objects.

re: LEGO Dimensions (Multi-Console, 9/27/2015)

Most of the LEGO: Dimension packs/playsets are available on BestBuy.com. They've been there for weeks, but actually ordering them was spotty (they'd disappear from the cart when trying to check out).

Also, GCU works on all, so to that.

Went in for:
LEGO: Dimension Starter Pack on the WiiU
Back to the Future: Playset
Back to the Future: Doc Brown: Fun Pack
Portal: Playset
Jurassic World: Team Pack
Wonder Woman: Fun Pack

That's probably enough damage to the wallet in one purchase.

I am very interested in the game but no longer interested at all in any more shit cluttering up my house.

re: LEGO Dimensions (Multi-Console, 9/27/2015)

Sorry to bump with no news but with the game coming out next week, when do you think we'll see if any retailers are having sales on it? B2G1 type stuff.

I desperately want to get in this game in a way that I never did for Disney Infinity, even with Star Wars. I don't know if it's just the LEGO aspect or the various licenses and humor (or all of the above), but I just can't stomach paying these MSRPs. Even GCU isn't enough for me to justify $80 on the base set alone, not counting Portal 2, BttF, Doctor Who, etc.

But I also want to help it not flop so maybe there is a chance to see some Disney/Marvel/SW/non-WB LEGO properties get in there.

Nobody knows if they will discount them, but if i had to guess, i would say around Thanksgiving is when there might be discounts.

I would very seriously doubt there will ever be Disney owned things on this since it's a direct competitor with Disney Infinity.

re: LEGO Dimensions (Multi-Console, 9/27/2015)

Disney has already partnered with LEGO and produced numerous LEGO sets. No reason to assume Dimensions won't have anything in it. They like making money whether Infinity is a competitor or not.

As for deals, official LEGO deals are never that steep. I doubt we'll see a B2G1 deal. Maybe a % off will be in the cards, but I'd even be surprised to see a 30% off deal.

re: LEGO Dimensions (Multi-Console, 9/27/2015)

They make more money by selling their own product. They don't have a stake in the building bricks market. They do have a stake in the toys to life video game market. I would be very surprised if we ever got any Disney licenses in this game.

Also, maybe this is just the longtime comic book fan in me, but I have a hard time imagining a scenario where Marvel and DC characters are allowed to appear side by side in the same game.
