Odd. Did I mention you or anyone else here?

The internet is REALLY concerned about the length of this game, like no other game I've ever seen.
Agreed. All the obsession with this is starting to border on the ridiculous.

Eh, I see games as experiences, if it's a good one then it's worth the money, if not then it's not - or substantially discounted. The "sweet spot" for a single player game for me is between 8 and 12 hours. Most that are substantially longer tend to either have a lot of filler, or a lot of "walk around" time.
Agreed and that was the point that I was trying to make earlier. If the experience is only worth five hours of game time in terms of being a great one, then make it five hours. There is no reason for 20 hours of filler to be added just because.

Personally I'm starting to think a lot of internet gamers are whining entitled babies.

I think How Long To Beat is actually a pretty useful resource.

Well, it all depends on the game, doesn't it? I got more bored half way through a 5-hour CoD campaign than I ever did during my 100+ hours of playing Skyrim.

And I'm starting to think that "whining entitled babies" is just a childish way of saying "someone who has a different opinion than I do."

Seriously, I'm really tired of seeing that phrase or some variation of it thrown out in every internet discussion about gaming.

There's definitely a lot of whining involved with gaming these days though. It isn't just a differing of opinion, it's an almost venomous "Shut Up, I'M RIGHT!" attitude prevalent through a lot of it. It's always been there, but it certainly has gotten much more vocal and "whiney" with time. It's especially obvious when a "console seller" fails to meet some sort of expectation so it's understandable why it's coming up here.

Absolutely! It's just hard for me to carve out that much time for one game. It's why I'm actively avoiding GTA V, even though I think I'd really like it. For a well-made, all-killer-no-filler game, a relatively short length kind of winds up being a selling point for me. (Not that it sounds like The Order fits that bill...)

To be fair, that 100+ hours of Skyrim did take me more than two years.

Re: The Order: 1886 - PS4 (2/20/2015)

I'll toss out another thought. I would rather play through The Order knowing I'll finish it in an enjoyable 8 - 10 hours (assuming the game is pretty good), than knowing that I'd be beating my head against the wall in a game like Bloodborne that I'm sure is a much longer, and much more difficult game. I think it just comes down to what people are looking for and how much value they place on that experience.

Every time I head someone complaining about a game being too short, I think man that sounds awesome!

Re: The Order: 1886 - PS4 (2/20/2015)

NES games were known to be short and were still very close in price to the games we buy today. Zelda, Metroid and Contra are revered games but can be beat in just a couple of hours.

Yeah, and I will spend $50 - $60 on a 2 hour game like say, Ikaruga, that was all gameplay and replayable as hell.

I've purchased Dark Side Of The Moon multiple times in different formats. I think I paid $30 for the SACD. An Album that's 43 minutes long that I've listened to dozens of times. I got my money's worth.

My recent E-Book American Sniper will take me around ten hours to read cost $5. I think I'll get my money's worth.

I've paid countless times for the Alien movies and they are 2 + hours I got my money's worth.

MGS I paid full price on PSX and have replayed that game countless times. I got my money's worth.

The same may happen with The Order.

Good point, I have bought Halloween on DVD and Blu-ray at least 6 times so I have spent more on that 2 hour movie than I will on The Order.

I spent around $7 on lunch and finished it in under a half hour
I have no idea what this has to do with anything but it seems to fit the direction this discussion has taken

That we shouldn't equate price with enjoyment of media? Have you ever heard a music fan bitch that a Beatles record should be longer or have more songs? Moviegoers that think a movie should be four hours instead of 2? Gamers seem to be the only group that does this.

It seems relevant to point out that I can't rent my lunch and I revisit Revolver far more often than I plan to re-play Ryse
