Uncharted 4 is clearly my most anticipated game
the only other exclusive (not mentioned above) that I'm excited for is MLB 15 The Show
unfortunately I thingk No Mans Sky will wind up a disappointment

My copy shipped from Gamefly
I'm unable to cancel my Best Buy preorder online
but I can still cancel my preorder in-store.

Might just splurge on Arkham Knight CE now instead. Don't really know if it's worth the extra $40, but now I feel deprived of a Collector's Edition statue and I want one dammit! :)

Probably. It goes into the argument that gamers are mainly whiners.

Not wanting to drop $60 on a 6 hour experience =/= "whining."

Are the professional reviewers who overwhelmingly gave this game negative reviews whiners as well? Or is it perhaps a subpar game that deserves criticism?

I can't believe Wal Mart hasn't canceled my preorder for $62.76 yet, but I guess they still have time.

Nice humblebrag.

It ends up being about $10 more than that at Best Buy with GCU and RZ certificate on the back end. I can live with that I think. That statue isn't as nice as The Order 1886 one though.

I have a feeling that the cool CE with the statue will be abundant and cheap in a few months (just like Watch Dogs and, slightly less so, Titanfall CEs). I'll probably pick one of The Order CEs up if/when they drop down on black Friday or boxing day. :)

Ok, I always enjoy when people say "the professional reviewers". Really? It's not like you go to school to get a degree in video game reviewing.

And I don''t think you understand what "whinning" means. When I talk about gamers whinning it's like what DVDJunkie said earlier. They whine when a game is too long. They whine if a game is too short. They whine if the gameplay is to simple. They whine if it's too complicated. They whine if the graphics aren't good enough etc etc. They really have no idea what they want and seem to have entitled elitists attitudes.

It's pretty simple. If the game doesn't sound appealing wait for a price drop. Most gamers on the internet act like if a game doesn't live up to their expectations it's like the developers came over and peed in their cornflakes.

If you get paid to do something, that makes it a profession. Hence, if you're paid to write reviews, you are a professional reviewer whether you've studied the topic at an institute of higher learning or not.

"Professional" reviewers as opposed to amateurs. People who get paid to write reviews, are not anonymous, and thus have accountability for their opinions. And there are plenty of people with journalism degrees who work in videogame journalism (imagine that), though of course there are plenty who don't as well.

On the contrary, I think you don't understand what "whining" means. Perhaps some people don't like when a game is too short, and others don't like if it's too long, others don't like if it's too complicated, etc. There are a wealth of opinions out there, most of them valid. Are there trolls as well? Certainly, but that comes with any form of discussion on the internet.

I agree with your point about waiting for a price drop. I just hate this idea that any criticism of games (or the gaming industry) needs to be dismissed as "entitled whining." It's an absurd attempt to invalidate the concerns and criticisms of others. Why should every conversation be a happy, love-filled handjob for the gaming industry? That would not be an accurate reflection of reality. If you don't like reading discussion about a game, on forums dedicated to discussing games, the onus is on you to just ignore it instead of coming in and name-calling.

I hoped it would be better as well, but I will still keep my copy that currently shipping to me. I paid $40 CAD for it, and if I can at least get the amount of fun I got from Ryse, I will be happy.

Enough is enough. I suggest you stay out of the Playstation threads since it's clear you have nothing to contribute but mindless console bashing.

They pay me when I recycle cans. Does that make me a professional can recycler?

No they don't. They refund your deposit. Do you think you're getting paid for moving out when you get your security deposit money returned to you? CRV is one of the many things that I don't miss about California.

Also Persona 5 and Disgaea 5.

As for 1886, I have no problems with games that play out like an interactive movie. I enjoyed the Gears of Wars series. But I'm not going to shell out $60 for it. I'll wait until I can pick up a new or used copy for $25-30.

So you're saying a McDonald's employee is a professional burger flipper?

I have always viewed profession, career, and job as three different things.

A profession requires a college degree or at a minimum a specialized skill. Doctors, lawyers, accountants, computer programmers, etc are professions.

A career does not require a degree and is less specialized. A writer or reviewer is a career, but not a profession. Anyone can write with minimal training.

A job requires nothing special at all. A McDonald's burger flipper is a job. A blind one-armed monkey with half a brain can flip burgers.

Decker 02-20-15 03:37 PM

Re: The Order: 1886 - PS4 (2/20/2015)

There are two different definitions or the word profession - one is a job requiring specialized or advanced training, one just synonymous with occupation.

You're not wrong taffer with your impression of the word, but I'm not either. I think specialized training is implied with the word Profession, but it's not actually required for the word to be used accurately. While the term "professional burger chef" might seem derisive, it's not actually wrong either.
