Re: Planetside 2 (PS4/PC)

I don't recall the server name. I think I was on that newbie server just getting my feet wet and deciding whether I still wanted to play PVP at all.

But I was having a good time, even with a K/D right around 1:1. I was using the "assault" class with the jetpack to start, but I always liked playing medic and engineer on BFBC2, and I suspect I'll go that way here as well. My reflexes aren't what they used to be so it's nice to have a class where you can be more deliberate and contribute in a more strategic ways.

I started during the night part of the day/night cycle, so I wasn't initially blown away by the graphics, but once the sun came up, I thought it looked great.

I also need to figure out the economy, because that's half the battle with F2P games. I don't mind paying a bit up front to get started and get some good guns, but I don't want to get in a situation where I feel held back in the core game just because I don't want to continuously pay. Hopefully it's like Warframe where you can get the most practical stuff by playing the game and money is spent mostly on aesthetics.

It's the economic and upgrade system I need to get a handle on. We ran into some who apparently went ahead and spent real money on some serious upgrades like that Battletank Armor with machine guns. It took several of us out but we got it down. I've seen a few of these in the Terran and Conglomerate and suspect it'll be even more crazy once you get past Level 15 and hit the real battles.

The day and night cycle is a neat feature and the fact you can get around about any way you want. I don't think the learning curve or depth is no-where near Warframe but it'll be spread out to do whatever anyone wants to but not to a point where one has an super obvious advantage. The sheer size of the battlefield, objectives, amount of players and the fact it's three factions and not 1v1 makes it so unpredictable. Saturday we took the base away from Terran and then had the New Conglomerate come and try to take it away. At one point there were all three fighting each other

You guys know you don't have to wait for level 15 to go to the real continents, right? You can leave the starter area whenever you feel you are ready.

After last night I might need to wait till I reach 18-20. I must have had a Die-to-kill ratio of 5-1 last night. There was more times I could count members of the other team knew exactly where to be when you either spawned, go to drop down or had to go thru to enter the area. One time the other team had a Armor Vehicle just parked where our Armor vehicle spawn point was and took us out the moment we appeared

I managed to finally get to Level 12 but it was rough. I saw more last night that has to be using "Money Bought" items. I need to take a look at that more later and see if it's worth it now or just wait later. I upgraded more of the Med Kit, Engineering Tool, Cloak Generator(?) and Suit on the Heavy.

I went in with the intention of maybe 1-2 hrs of play and ended up 3.5 hrs...the game seems to keeping pulling you either to constantly defend or attack once one objective is done. I wanted to leave several times but when you see some teammates start running to the next point it's like...ok I'll go and try to help.
