It's not what they are selling it as.

Exactly. How many Kinects will be flying off shelves after dumping it from the bundle? I'm gonna say they hope beyond their wildest dreams for a 15% attach rate.

No. I'm agreeing with you. EA are surely furious. Right now they're probably scrapping their plans for Titanfall 2 on PS4.

And optional-gate is even worse. That was a real dick move by Sony, and I'm getting real tired of their shit!

Do you not get the context of what I was even talking about? It was specific to EA's press conference. It was slap in the face, but whatever, believe what you want to believe.

This thread is definitely turning in to a different kind of train wreck that I would have expected given the original post.

MS themselves billed it as the 'one' media device for your entertainment console, not the next great gaming machine. Take it up with them. Consumers got their message loud and clear.

Fortunately they got the message and are righting that ship.

Again, never implied that EA was cutting ties with Sony. Nice try though guy.

The difference is that it's in more homes now than PS camera probably ever dreams of having in it's first two years.

So you're suggesting PS4 people like the camera more than Xbox One owners like the Kinect? Yeah, okay.

I think there's been other fun side conversations like letting children play video games or something too.

It was very young children, and yeah, it's not a great idea, depending on the content and other factors.

And how many of them are in closets or even get used? It was such a resounding success they removed it from the bundle. The only reason 5m people own a Kinect is because there was no other option.

Where are you getting that from what I posted? I'm simply saying from here on out, Kinect can only hope to achieve a 15% attach rate. If you hadn't noticed it kind of has a stench about it unlike Sony's offering, for whatever reason. And the people that really wanted one or didn't mind it, are in that 5m group. FWIW, I don't give a shit about either one.

You can now sell your Kinect if it's really just taking up space.

The first Kinect was super popular. Doesn't mean it won't be now that it's optional.

As a percentage?

~100% of the people who own a PS4 camera wanted to own it, so...I don't know...maybe?

Absolutely true. I just think that maybe the novelty has worn off of motion-control gaming in general and that voice-control hasn't taken off like MS had hoped. The PS Eye (or whatever it's called) is popular, as I understand it, because of the live broadcasts it enables people to put out. I find the whole broadcasting-your-game thing excruciating, but that's just me. If that's possible with the XO like it is with Live From Playstation, I don't see any reason why it wouldn't catch on as well.

Brack, congraulations on alienating almost every single member who has contributed to Video Games in the past two years. Not sure what your problem is but when everyone else is an asshole in the room... they're usually not the assholes.

Re: F off, Aaron Paul!!

My problem is I make one comment about how Sony came off kind dicky a couple of times at their press conference, and a lot on here want to dismiss it as nonsense, and take cheap shots at me. So yeah, call me an asshole all you want, but no one here is any better just because some like to make snarky posts at my expense. Maybe they need a new hobby or they can ignore me, ever think of that Rob?

Of course you can broadcast your games. There are a bunch of Twitch feeds that have XO games broadcasting as we speak.

The difference here is that PS owners were given the option to buy the camera and many people still did. The original One owners were forced to get one and I would venture a guess that only a small percentage of those people really wanted it to begin with.

Re: F off, Aaron Paul!!

They bought the system didn't they? No one forced them to buy XO. So couldn't you also make the argument that those owners wanted the Kinect? The Kinect was dropped to get more consumers who didn't want it, not necessarily because it was a failure.
