That looks awesome! And I'm on vacation the next week. I know what I'll be doing waiting for March Madness to start!

I remember when right before the game came out they mentioned this DLC and it was like WOW...get to fight Mr. Abominable Snowman. Not I'm like...oh crap....

haven't played this in awhile and need to get back to the craziness of Far Cry4...just wish it was more co-op user friendly.

Wow, this game is great. Definitely harder than 3 but I kind of like that as I'm going to go around hunting and unlocking towers before I start the bulk of the missions.

Didn't like it when I first popped it in (that's what she said) but after playing for a bit, I'm seeing the complexity the game has to offer. I love the radio station dj's as well - they spew some funny stuff

There was a huge update recently (over a gig) - I'm guessing that was the Yeti DLC - surprised that wasn't optional.

That seems to be par for the course with most new-gen games. The DLC gets pushed out as an update whether you actually buy it or not. It's pretty ridiculous.

Yeah I noticed that too, this gen is really pissing me off with it's constant updates, imcomplete games that are constantly patched, etc...

IGN Review

The Verdict

While Valley of the Yetis fails to provide a truly engaging story or a convincing reason why we should go through the hassle of unlocking our weapons and skills for a second time, its new defensive missions and monsters add some depth to the already excellent core gameplay of Far Cry 4. Despite not having much to do outside of the campaign new defense missions, exploring the Valley of the Yetis is good fun - both as the hunter and as the hunted.

Far Cry 4: Valley of the Yetis on PS4

7.6
Good

FC4’s Valley of the Yeti DLC adds some monstrous fun and desperate defense missions.

+Cool new location
+Yetis are awesome
+Night assaults

– Reset progression
– Few side activities

Having to unlock our weapons and skills for a second time to play some side quests? No thanks!

Re: Far Cry 4 -- November 18, 2014 - PC, PS3, 360, PS4, Xbox One

I don't think that's exactly how it works. I think it works kind of like the Prison DLC where it's like a separate game selectable in the Main Menu and your progress in the main game doesn't transfer to the DLC and vice versa. That's not a deal breaker for me -- it's more like stand-alone DLC that isn't really stand-alone because it requires the main game to play it.
If you've played both inFamous Second Son and First Light you'd get the idea. It's kind of fun to unlock the skill tree again without having any actual effect on the main game save. The difference here is that you're still playing the main character which doesn't make a ton of sense to me.

I understand but I don't want to be leveling up once again all the things I already spent many hours leveling up the first time. I just want to go in and blow a few yetis away and do a missions and then be done with it.

I get that sentiment, but then again, once you've got the super-powered guns, hunting is such a breeze there's no challenge in it. I'd hate to have a Yeti hunting expansion where the Yetis are as easy to kill as Rhinos are for me now. It's a trade-off I guess.

In any case I'm getting it because I bought the Gold Edition of the game. I'll try to give my impressions of it tomorrow or in the next few days.

Yeah my interest just went down to zero for this. Glad I didn't pay for the season pass.

Yeah, I understand not wanting to make your character all powerful at the start of the new DLC, but I really don't want to do the busy work of leveling up again. It should've been like Blood Dragon where they just give you guns as you run through the game. "Leveling up" on shorter DLC campaigns is a bad idea.

So just wanted to ask....for those of you who already beat the main game...did you find it tough? I'm playing on the easy level and I still get my ass handed to me. I really have to put aside time to hunt and craft larger weapon bags and I've unlocked a bunch of towers which gave me some more XP to unlock some strength advantages but damn, I'm out of ammo in no time and constantly getting killed.

It definitely gets easier once you unlock/find some better guns. I don't find any of it that hard (except possibly the series of change of pace prison missions later on). Ammo is never an issue because there are TONS of NPCs to easily kill and loot for ammo. Do a lot of side missions and level up before going back to the main story missions. That will help a lot.

I unlocked the Buzzsaw think that'st the name) and that thing was awesome. Such a shame that the game is practically over when you finally get it. If that carried over to the DLC, I'd probably be more inclined to purchase it.

The AI has the uncanny ability to identify you from 2-3 miles away... so you need to stay focused on getting the pouches (for bait) and better weapons. I almost always equipped a silencer on both my sniper rifle and PDW. I unlocked a powerful shotgun early on too --- perfect for taking out large animals. Once you have bait, you can use it to throw some chaos into the baddies camps. By the end you're almost invincible.
I also played on "easy" and died more than I thought I would.

This is the easiest Far Cry (not saying it's totally easy, just comparatively). Each one is a just a little easier than the last, with the first Far Cry being one of the hardest FPS of all time. Seriously, the AI in that game was brutal as enemies could spot you from way farther than you can see them, and they all had perfect accuracy with each shot.

So how do you kill 5 enenmies and a tiger when you run out of ammo and first aid kits quick and you can't carry a second weapon? this never happened to me in Far Cry 3 and 3 was definitely MUCH easier than 4.

I agree with that. FC2 was a grind and FC3 was cool but seemed much more difficult to me. And Blood Dragon just kicked my ass. Using bait in FC4 makes taking care of baddies much easier.

You need to go hunting with the bow (you get double skins that way) and craft a better holster ASAP so you can carry more weapons.
Also hide more, throw rocks to distract guards, sneak up on them from behind and do takedowns. Instant kills, more XP, no bullets used, no other guards alerted.

This is something I haven't tried often but even then, if there is animal around the place the enemies are (and it's a friendly to them) if you throw the bait they just run over and eat it - I remember saying, "you motherfucker" when that first happened.

I'm using the STG and it still takes all my clips to even make a dent in on of the bigger animals - now that I have extended mags though, I'm hoping this changes.

Are you playing on the PS4? I can join your game and help you hunt and upgrade some of your stuff later tonight perhaps.
