That's never been a problem for me. I was able to carry multiple weapons pretty early on, and I've only run out of ammo just a couple times, and scavenging bodies would net me more ammo in no time, so it's never been a problem. I guess we just play the game differently somehow.

You can and it's a big help having a friend join you. After my last post it occurred to me though that you have to progress in the main story a little way before that option opens up for you. But it's real fun and a lot easier taking over outposts in two person play. The story missions have to be tackled solo though.

Re: Far Cry 4 -- November 18, 2014 - PC, PS3, 360, PS4, Xbox One

So maybe my problem was that I chose Anita's mission over Sabal's?? Cause I had such a hard time with that mission.

Now, I'm well on my way - this game is bat-shit crazy. Loved the arena challenge and how Sanjay (the guy you play) raises his hands after surviving the arena

This may just be my favorite game this gen so far - it's still a bit tough but money is easy to come by so it makes reloading and re-purchasing armor no big deal. The himilayas were cool too.

Man you played a shit-ton of story missions last night! Don't rush through the story now. Fuck around for a while. Do some Outposts, towers and side missions - level up some and unlock more guns

Ah, see, I think that's your issue. I only did the first few main-story missions, and a ton of side stuff (fun side stuff that didn't feel like padding, mostly climbing all the towers to open up the world map, which is super easy once you find a gyro-copter), then I tackled more story missions later as I felt sufficiently prepared. You're in too big a hurry, basically.

I've played this for about 10 hours or so, really enjoying it (probably not as much as Far Cry 3 though).

My biggest problem so far is the lack of fast travel options. They are too far apart and this map is so damn huge it gets annoying having to run, drive, fly somewhere. They should have taken the same approach as the Fallout games (any discovered location can be fast traveled to).

^^ Agreed. You almost have to have the gyro-copter to get anywhere without dying by gunfire or rhino.

Yeah, they went a little to balls-out with the activity in this world...I mean as soon as you get out of your safe house you have to have your guard up.

For example, one outpost I saved has the enemies occasionally coming back -I hope the game doesn't pull some shit to where they eventually take over the outpost again.

Also the karma events....ugh, stop with that shit already.

But with all that said - I will admit, I love the meancing feel the game has - it really does put you on edge at times - the driving is horrible though.

I always go out and unlock all the towers and outposts first. Then do the rest of the campaign and side quests. I get in the buzzer and just bounce from post/tower to the next. Pretty easy traveling.

Once you reach Level 8, you max out Karma. Then you can ignore every Karma evvent and mow down pedestrians.
My favorite Karma event was one time where I went on a hostage rescue. I was stealthy and saved everyone. They thanked me profusely and gave me some cash. As I walked out of the compound, still hearing them thanking the Gods for their rescue I passed a pack of wolves entering the compound. They promptly ate all the survivors. Karma's a bitch in Kyrat!

that's why I love the game, A chick came running up to me while I was hunting to save her and her frieds from some honey badgers (it was pretty damn realistic too, really was impressive how it went down) - I just ignored her as I wanted more skins from a different animal to get the ability to craft another weapon slot....so the honey badgers killed her and her friends...after I crafted what was needed for my weapons slot - I noticed I needed 3 honey badger skins for another upgrade - so I killed he ones that killed them and got my upgrade

Your outposts are constantly under attack.

You can completely ignore those events. The outposts are never reclaimed by enemies. There's an achievement/trophy for doing the event 5 or 10 times (I forget which).

Did not know that. I thought for sure the outpost would be reclaimed and you'd have to free it again.

Speaking of that, I was actually able to free three outposts without the enemy noticing me (thus unlocking the skill in the tree-chart). I simply used a high powered sniper rifle and silencer.

If you have the skill where you harvest twice the items for plants, then everytime you pick up a green leaf you get two, and it is automatically turned into first aid. I would just grab every green leaf I saw.

Even if you hit the limit for kits I've found that if you keep grabbing green leaves they'll just store up in your backpack, and if you use a health kit while at the limit then the game will automatically convert 2 of the green leaves in your bag into a health to take its place.

The trick is to not be seen; doesn't matter how much Hell you rain down on 'em. Freeing animals and throwing meat into the outpost can help a ton too.
After turning off the Kansas game in disgust (sigh) I went back to do get those Oupost battles undetected. I never tried the blind shooting from a mile away - that might have been fun. Instead, I tried the sniper rifle with silencer, but they always detected me, so I went to plan B. The Auot-Bolt gun is truly silent and works very well -- you can keep firing and they'll never locate you. Using that and lots of bait, I quickly got my last five outpost overtaken -- four of them undetected. That trophy will be mine soon, then it's just a matter of grinding in the Arena until Level 10 (which will truly suck).

Word of advice to those who still need that two undetected outpost to unlock the Soft Landing skill and are running low on enemy outposts : if you get detected, let them kill you. You'll be reset at the outpost with your bait and syringes retuned and you'll be set to try again.

Re: Far Cry 4 -- November 18, 2014 - PC, PS3, 360, PS4, Xbox One

I'm pretty far in this game now and I think it's the best game this gen so far (easily). I will say again though, there is just too much shit going on when you're trying to get from one point to another and it's the kind of stuff that gets in the way - constant enemy attacks and karma stuff - gets a bit annoying.

One thing I see becoming the norm, and it's something maybe a lot of you like but I don't....the length of missions are becoming unbearably long - I don't like spending an hour/half hour just to complete a mission. Again, it's not just Far Cry.

One thing about the outposts...I keep hearing you guys say that the enemy will never fully take it back but just last night while I was leaving an outpost a message popped up on the screen saying "the enemy is trying take your outpost - stop them before they do" or something to that extent...it even wiped out my GPS route which is basically like saying "you need to do this now" just curious.

I can't stand a lot of the skill points either - most of them are useless, like...completely useless - I'm guesing the ones you have to unlock are the good ones.

Lastly, that first visit to shangri-la was excellent.

^^ I was always under the impression protecting your outpost was mandatory... a forced mission if you will.

They aren't forced, and the enemy does not retake the outposts. I did enough of them to get the achievement early on and completely ignored those missions for the rest of the entire game. If you drive far enough away from the outpost the mission is canceled and your GPS clears up.

Ahh, I see. Thanks. I don't know why I'm so retarded with this game - I think it may be because of how loaded it is with things to do - I'm just not noticing what sticks and what doesn't.

On the other hand, those reclamation missions are easy, risk-free ways to rack up some XP and lots of rupees and ammo. There are always tons of bodies to loot afterwards. And if you're defending an outpost with a mortar, that's extra-enjoyable when you get to rain fire upon the soldiers.

Yeah, that's one reason why I usually do end up fighting all the time - tons of money and ammo afterwards
