Join IGN next Monday, April 14 at 11am PT/2pm ET as we unveil the first-ever live gameplay footage of MLB 14: The Show for PlayStation 4. Major League Baseball stars Yasiel Puig of the Los Angeles Dodgers and Hunter Pence of the San Francisco Giants will face off in the video game, live in IGN's studio, the day before they square off on the real-life diamond. Sony San Diego designer Ramone Russell will also be on hand to debut the game, joining forces with IGN's own Greg Miller to answer fan questions and deep-dive into the gameplay. At this point, I think I would rather just wait and see it in action for myself when it releases than watch other people play it. It's not like this is a game I need to be sold on, it's The Show.

I love hockey but baseball is the best sport. Period.

Can't wait for this. One of the main reasons I got a PS4.

I couldn't from work (can't go on IGN) and haven't found anything elsewhere yet

Just remember that to dive you only have to press: B, R2 and wiggle up/down on the left thumbstick.

just watched some of the gameplay from IGN

hard to tell via the video but still looked somewhat PS3 to me

32:25 glitch in pitchers glove and then on the following play the batter/runner runs right through the first baseman

I kept waiting for those flags to stop blowing/waiving as well

Local video game store breaks street date and they had this today so I picked it up. Game looks great. Same gameplay as last year and that is certainly a good thing. Tried a game with the quick counts and I'm not sure if I'll do it again. Interesting idea though. Also the default camera was a dynamic view that really threw me off but I was able to change back to the old one. Terrible picture here but when I played against the Giants they wore this bizzare hat and jersey combo. Not sure why.... http://i58.tinypic.com/15rbmkw.jpg

It's been a while since I played a Show, what will I need to switch the camera to for it to be the old view? Is it just called classic or something?

If the online works halfway decent maybe we can resurrect our Dvdtalk league that we had a few years ago. I wouldn't mind giving it another go on the next-gen system. I've got dibs on the Cardinals.

Damn the digital age! I had a copy at the register at a major store chain but was denied the sale by the register. So close!

That happened to me at Target once, with a DVD. Stupid modern registers!

As to why the Giants uniform/hat might be like that, MLB lets you choose which tops, pants, and hats you want to use. In fact, I think 12 or 13 had a trophy for selecting a completely mismatched uniform. EDIT: It was 12, that may be when the option was added.

They were the New York Giants for ~70 years before moving to San Francisco. Assume it's a throwback uniform.

Sounds like the online is still laggy which is why we killed the league in the first place. I don't understand why they can't make a two player online game have very little to no lag. I guess we will have to try it out ourselves before we decide on resurrecting the league.

Woo-hoo, Gamefly shipped me a PS4 copy this morning! I'll have to wait a few days, but I'm looking forward to trying this out (despite how badly I suck at sports games). Should at least be a fun distraction for me. :up:

I have heard the online performance is crappy, but I don't remember any issues with it when we ran the league several years ago.

I've repeatedly hit up Google and CTRL+F'ed through a bunch of reviews, but I haven't been able to find much about local multiplayer. It's either not mentioned at all, barely mentioned in passing, or limited to just a dot in a sidebar. Any thoughts on how The Show plays as a two-people-on-the-couch game?
