Tried MP last night, just 5 matches, in the 360, the One version finished downloading over the night. It's fun, too fast for my taste right now, but I'm sure I can get used to it.

I guess I will check the graphics tonight in the One.

Sorry if this is a repeat question, but are the game mechanics similar to Titanfall? If they are, I'm all over this.

How long did the campaign take you Blu? 6 hours i am guessing.

Would like to pick up the game, but without a decent home net connection it means i lose out on the multiplayer and cuts the value of a full price purchase.

Yeah, something like that. I played it for a few hours on Monday and yesterday. Wrapped up the final 2 levels this morning.

Grand total - no more than 10 hours combined play time on the campaign.

Wow. My friends and I take a few days off work to play Call of Duty non-stop for the first few days (as we couldn't do it last year) and people on a message board called DVDTALK belittle you. If it makes anyone feel better, I also have extra days off next week to play Halo as well.

... and yes, I have a full time job, both a checking and savings account, 401k, a stock portfolio, and currently no life obligations like having to report back to a wife who threatens to take away your gaming console. Who would've thought?

Now that's bragging.

What your noticing is the frame rate difference. Destiny runs at 30fps whereas COD runs at 60fps.

Yeah, it's like Quake vs. Unreal Tournament back in the day. One moved at kind of a casual speed, the other was crazy fast. Halo has always been a little slower, Destiny is pretty similar in that regard.

...

...

What?

Both those games are twitch-based, so that's not an apt comparison.

A much better comparison is Halo vs Call of Duty. Besides the frame-rate differences (30 vs 60), competitive Halo is not as fast paced as competitive Call of Duty. Both are FPS, but there's different strategies involved.

it was still a pretty noticeable speed difference going from Quake to UT the first time around. Or am I thinking Soldier of Fortune I/II? Bleh whatever.

When I was in high school during the prime era of those initial FPS multiplayer games, you either played Counter-strike or Unreal Tournament. Both games deviated from the standard "team deathmatch" or "free-for-all" variations that were prevalent in FPS at that time to more objective-based gameplay like planting bombs or capturing flags. Counter-strike is a relatively slow FPS compared to Quake and Unreal Tournament, but it feels fast due to the fact rounds are significantly short and teams are usually smaller.

Also, Quake at that time had mods to make the game faster paced. Just look at the Team Fortress mod that was made...

UT was definitely faster paced and more hectic then Quake. Comparison makes sense to me.

Now are we talking about Quake, Quake II, or Quake III Arena?

The original Quake games had strafe and rocket jumping which wasn't made available in Call of Duty until three days ago.

Quake circa '96. Although now that I think about it, Quake 2 came out in like 97 and had substantially faster DM as well, weapons fired more quickly, rail guns.

All 3 are slower paced then Unreal Tournament, so its irrelevant.

I'll have 5 days off tomorrow, because I can. I don't have a wife or kids, so we get to do anything and everything we want without reporting to anyone. We're responsible ballers!!!

I have the week after Thanksgiving off. Which gives me an extra two days off and hopefully some of the games issues will be ironed out by then too.

I just finished up the campaign today. While I think this one was maybe the shortest of all of them for me, I clocked in a little over 7 hours, I think the story was one of the best of any of them. Well written, and mission design was fun.

I fucked up my wrist by jerking off to the point it broke at work. So now I get workers comp to cover 4 days of the week for me. I get paid to do nothing now.

Sometimes I wonder how much higher my MW2 KDR would have been without all the 8-20 matches at 2AM on Sunday mornings. It did not help my gameplay at all.

Re: Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare (Sledgehammer Games; 11/2014, PS3/PS4/360/XO/PC)

I really wish that more FPS with multiplayer allowed offline play with Bots. Not having a decent internet connection eliminates a good part of the enjoyment of these games. I used to love (and still do actually) playing Unreal Tournament and Counter Strike against bots. Sure its not as good as playing against real people, but it still counts for a lot. Actually, having a hard time thinking of many FPS these days that allow bots. Developers i guess just assume that most gamers have net access....and good net access at that.

Still, might pick this up as it seems to be a return to form for the series.
