Final Fantasy XIII announced for PC release as a trilogy (XIII-2 and Lightning Returns). The base game (XIII) is coming to Steam next month, apparently for $16 ($14.39 currently for the pre-order)

http://www.pcgamer.com/2014/09/18/fi...ng-next-month/

As much as I disliked XIII, it's kind of neat to have a modern, non-MMO Final Fantasy on PC. Also FF IV redux was released on Steam earlier htis week.

I never finished FF13 on 360. I'd almost be tempted to get it again on PC.

RichC2 09-18-14 07:50 PM

Re: PC Gaming Thread

Same, price is right. If someone makes a mod to make the cinematics skippable I may even finish it.

No 960? (That's great news! Since I have a 760).

fumanstan 09-19-14 01:17 PM

Re: PC Gaming Thread

Probably will just come later, the 760 and 660 release also came 1-3 months after the higher end parts.

RichC2 09-19-14 01:19 PM

Re: PC Gaming Thread

Ah gotcha. Well considering it still gets me 1080p @ 30 - 60 fps at high - ultra settings I'm pretty content still.

Why do I have a feeling the stuck with 4gbs of vram because it will eventually bottleneck with 4K games. I was hoping for at least 6gb to be honest. Kinda happy because I will keep my 780s another cycle or two. I am looking forward to moving up in resolution eventually!

Hope this goes here- we bought Minecraft for our iPad for our son but now we want to have him do it on PC so he can play with our local friends group. Is there a way to transfer his file to a PC version or do we just have to buy it again and start over?

Yeah, you'll have to purchase the PC version -- I believe it's the most expensive version of the game at $26.95.

Ryse (October 10th) will NOT have microtransactions in the multiplayer.

Here it is at 1440p - the framerate increase definitely shows.

Vane looks gorgeous:

1440p Mordor:

<iframe width="560" height="315" src="//www.youtube.com/embed/DrzSBpkxbqw" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>

Keeping in mind that those LPC machines are roughly $5k a piece.

Recommended Requirements for Evil Within:
64-bit Windows 7/Windows 8
i7 with four plus cores
4 GBs RAM
50 GB of hard drive space*
GeForce GTX 670 or equivalent with 4GBs of VRAM
High Speed Internet Connection
Steam account and activation

Lazy port too, apparently.

http://www.polygon.com/2014/10/9/695...-steam-release

Final Fantasy 13 runs in full screen at 60 frames per second, Square Enix says, but the PC version's resolution is set to 1280 x 720. There is no in-game option to change that, early adopters on NeoGAF and the Steam forums are reporting. The game's cinematics also appear to be more heavily compressed than the game's PlayStation 3 version, which was first released in 2009.

Another quirk: The game immediately quits when hitting the Esc key.

Yeah it's a pretty lousy port.

There's a chance, however nothing's been announced. Steam already has a few LucasArts titles:
http://store.steampowered.com/search...sher=LucasArts

GOG often does some special programming and tweaking to get older games to work on newer hardware. So some games may stay exclusive to GOG if Lucasarts doesn't have the rights to those tweaks and doesn't want to replicate it on their own. Or, GOG could have timed exclusivity to some of these titles.

Yeah, this is the most common reason I see for people preferring Steam. Which is probably why they have something like 70% of the download market.

GOG is working on its own optional Steam-like Client to handle auto-updates and multiplayer matchmaking of their games.

I also like to keep my games located on as few services as possible... Mainly because otherwise I'll forget I even own them.
