Re: Console Wars 2013: What DID you buy?
I picked up the PS4 on impulse because all my friends were caught up in next gen fever, and I felt very left out. I think if the XB1 had launched first that would have been the system I purchased. I still do want to get it though, but I'll probably hold off as long as I can. The longest will be Titanfall though.

PS4. Been enjoying it so far as well. Played a little bit of the Xbox One at a friend's house over the weekend. It looks promising, but still has a way to go until I feel like I need one. Both Microsoft and Sony have systems that have huge potential in the future. Should be good times and can't wait to see what a year from now looks like on both platforms.

I tried to buy a PS4, but couldn't find one. Now I'll probably just wait and see which one's better and get it when Fallout 4 comes out.

I bought PS4. The price difference was the deciding factor between the two. With that hundred dollars I could basically pay for a years subscription to PS Plus and get a game.
I figure the stack of games I have will last me into the new year, and when I'm finished with them I'll pick up an Xbox. Don't know exactly when that'll be, but I'll definitely have one for Titanfall when it launches.

Re: Console Wars 2013: What DID you buy?
Neither, I waited to buy the PS3 and the XBox360 for well over a year after they were rolled out, both of my systems are still running.
-NEVER buy a new Gaming Console (car, computer...), wait for at least 6 months and all the bugs are worked out.
***Found out what Serial Number range I should buy, I did bought the correct one and now no problems.
I have enjoyed my PS3 better than the XBox360, so I will must likely pick up the PS4 next summer or later.

Xbox One. Skype is pretty cool. Got it up and running within five minutes. Netflix is alright but one thing they need to fix: When i find some shows they recommend there's no option to add it to my queue. Add a voice command "Add to my queue" Or maybe I'm not seeing it?
Youtube sucks though. Anytime i watch a video, for some reason Kinnect thinks I'm talking and brings up the timebar and on the top big letters "Stop Listening" This happens several times throughout every video! I even tell it to stop listening but no dice

Re: Console Wars 2013: What DID you buy?
I never buy consoles at or near launch. The hardware is too buggy and too expensive and the software is never good enough. So right now I'm enjoying the Wii U that I picked up last week. I grabbed New Super Mario Bros. U, New Super Luigi U, and Rayman Legends, along with the Nintendo Land pack-in game, and I'll probably be picking up Super Mario 3D World and Lego City Undercover the next time I drop by a Wal-Mart or Target or whatever kind of store is selling them. These games are probably going to give me more enjoyment than anything the PS4 or XB1 will have to offer for another year or so. I'll look at those systems more seriously around this time next year.
(And no, I'm not a Nintendo fanboy. I skipped over the GameCube and Wii entirely and have never owned a DS. I just went with what I thought had the best games right now. Funny, considering all the cries of "the Wii U has no good games!" that you hear every day on every gaming website.)

I decided to hold off. I'll most likely pick up a PS4 around this year next time.
The plan is to get a Wii U early 2014 first. There are enough games that I'm interested in now and with school I don't have a serious amount of time to dedicate to gaming as it is.

Neither, decided to hold off for now since I realized the bulk of the games i'm going to play for the next 6 months are on PC, with Battlefield 4, Ghosts, Titanfall, and whenever Diablo 3's expansion comes out. Not to mention finishing up GTAV on 360 and a few PS3 games I haven't played yet.
I imagine i'll pick up a new console next year.

I wound up picking up the PS4 now since I started getting the itch to play BF4 and COD, and I would be buying one by March anyway for MLB and inFamous.

Re: Console Wars 2013: What DID you buy?
PS4 - sadly I've been busy and have hardly tried things other than the UI, sharing and CoD
UI - Sleek. I really like it. I liked the XMB but the new interface is much cleaner and better oin almost every way.
Speed - Everything is nice and snappy. Loading a game is really fast. The PSN store (which is the same interface we've had for a few months) is much quicker to acces and search through. Even the Download speeds have been much improved.
Controller - perfection. I've had a couple of XBox fanboys say it is the best controller they have ever tried out. light doesn't bother me since I have an LED TV and there is no glare.
Gameplay capture - I love how easy it is to edit gameplay and upload it.
Streams from Twitch are really nice and easy to find.
CoD - runs smooth, looks nice and clear, not really a true next gen title but it still looks and controls well. No lag compensation. Only lag I had was when my wife and my daughter were watching netflix and Youtube while I was in a match.
My gripes -
Youtube. Cmon I wanna upload to Youtube not Facebook. I wanna watch Youtube on my couch.
Let me stream movies like I do on the PS3.
I feel like the control I have on the PS3 is missing. PS4 should have something like a power user interface that gives you more option or control. Things like wallpapers, a download queue, sortable friends , etc..

Re: Console Wars 2013: What DID you buy?
After playing Farcry 3 and BioShock Infinite on the PS3/Xbox 360 and now finally PC, I have to say I really hope some of these older titles get ported over to the PS4 and Xbox One. FarCry 3 especially went from being pretty much unplayable to pretty much a bad ass game. And BioShock Infinite is a beauty on PC.
For all the people that keep commenting "It doesn't matter blah blah developed for the lowest console blah" the PC versions really do continue to be prove otherwise. To note, this isn't the best example as they have everything maxed out, including some absurd super-sampling options that almost nobody uses.

My theory right now is I'd rather pay $400 (PS4 or Xbox One after price drop) for a game console than spend $250 on a new graphic card. Not sure why that's my logic but dammit it is.

Yep. FC3 was my first game after I got my Radeon 7950 last year. If you haven't played Tomb Raider in PC, I would also recommend that.
The PC is truly the master race.
