Anyway, all 3 were backwards compatible on the 360, which suggests on a technical level they're likely to work, although the Buffy games may have licensing issues.

I'm not saying they're playable now, or will be anytime soon, on the XB1. However, the first 13 titles are all ones that had been made BC compatible on the 360, so my deductive reasoning is that anything that was made BC compatible on the 360 is more likely, on a technical level, to also be BC compatible on the XB1. But technical hurdles are only one factor; there's also licensing to consider.

Broke down and won a Scorpio edition on eBay. At a premium but I'm guessing quite a bit lower than they'll go for at launch. Gotta love impulse buys...

An interesting article about BC from IGN:
http://www.ign.com/articles/2017/10/...-compatibility
One very interesting tidbit: BC was in the works before the XB1 launched, to the point that they baked some BC features into the XB1 chipset:
It was originally going to be a launch feature, but when MS had to seriously reconfigure the XB1 to work offline and without disc activation, the BC project got put on hold, until Spencer came onto the scene.
The article also talks a bit about the new Original Xbox BC. The biggest factor to getting more games is consumer demand.

One very interesting tidbit: BC was in the works before the XB1 launched, to the point that they baked some BC features into the XB1 chipset:
Preliminary tests showed that support for key Xbox middleware XMA audio and texture formats was extremely taxing to do in software alone, with the former, Gammill noted, taking up two to three of the Xbox One’s six CPU cores... So they built the XMA and texture formats into the Xbox One chipset.
The article also talks a bit about the new Original Xbox BC. The biggest factor to getting more games is consumer demand.
As to what fans can do to try and get more games added to the list? “Support the program,” said senior director Xbox console marketing of Albert Penello, suggesting that publishers will look at that data. “Getting the fans of these franchises out is going to help unblock some of these [legal] challenges.” Stillwell agreed. “Fans hold the key here. We're doing the work. In some cases there are legitimate business reasons it can't happen. But the more that fans can drive that message back to the [publishers], the more we can do. That said, we can't complain. We've had great support.”

I broke down and bought Cuphead. Interesting game with the oddest fluctuations in difficulty for me. Great animation.

Hate the new Home screen. It’s so not easy to manage. The other was so simple and had access to everything in a much easier interface...

Couldn't disagree more. This is the first functional dash since the 360. Even the mini-guide is back to 360 levels of functionality and ease.

4 XBOX 360 GAMES GETTING XBOX ONE X ENHANCEMENTS
http://www.ign.com/articles/2017/10/...x-enhancements
http://www.ign.com/articles/2017/10/...x-enhancements
Microsoft’s Xbox backwards compatibility team is adding Xbox One X-specific enhancements to four high-profile Xbox 360 games that are already playable on Xbox One: Halo 3, The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion, Fallout 3, and Assassin’s Creed. All four updates will be available for free to anyone who owns the game on November 7, the same day the Xbox One X launches.
Some titles now have 10-bit color depth unlocked where they previously were restricted to 8-bit by the Xbox 360, and all have nine times the on-screen pixels.

OldBoy, I do find it hysterical (not in a mocking way, just an interesting way) that you're the one guy who actually likes and wants a Kinect. In four years, I have only used my Kinect a handful of times and only for one function -- scanning in bar codes included in physical copies of Microsoft Studio games to redeem included DLC without having to type the 25-character redemption code. And even that was so poorly received that Microsoft has stopped including the 2D bar codes now in their inserts for the last two Forza games and Halo Wars 2. Seriously, what does that say about the level of support Microsoft is throwing behind the Kinect that they won't even include a scan-able bar code that wouldn't cost them a penny extra to print on the insert?

I like the Kinect as well, mostly for the voice commands, and I had to replace mine after it started only working sporadically.

If I could get an adapter for free/cheap, I would. Mostly for the voice commands, yeah, but Fantasia and Kinect Sports Rivals are pretty fun too.

I'm trying to decide if I should cancel my pre-order. There's a lot on eBay now and they're not making much at all. $100 isn't worth the trouble.

I cancelled mine today as well. I'm not getting wrapped up in the same hype the Day One Edition fell in. I have no doubts the Scorpio edition will be in stores and my regular XB1 is still ticking. I also know that I would still end up gaming more on my PS4 regardless.
