Latest rumors/speculation I have seen has the price at $399 or a weird $449
XB1X / XBOneX
Hopefully it is not another lame name like X10S Extends

At $499, I'd probably... most likely... wait.
At $399, I'd pre-order.
Oh, and the name is clearly going to be
Xbox One Sexxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

I hope it's not something with 10 in there either, but then again Microsoft's Xbox names have been terrible so might as well continue the trend.
I liked an idea I saw about it just being named "Xbox" and then naming the current Xbox One S to "Xbox S" with that stylized S logo that came up. I'm not a big fan of non-distinctive names (New 3DS!) but it's better then some of the other things i've seen.

I thought this was interesting. Not as many people using the backwards compatibility as I thought.

There's a follow up article to that one, as some Microsoft tweets have basically said the conclusion Ars is drawing from it's sample size and time frame used isn't necessarily accurate.

Comments at Ars have noted their sample size was only 0.3% of XBL users, and that there's no way to tell if it's representative. Based on their extrapolation vs MS's numbers, apparently not.

And now Ars has issued a correction.
https://arstechnica.com/gaming/2017/...shed-analysis/
https://arstechnica.com/gaming/2017/...shed-analysis/
Microsoft has given us reason to believe the usage data provided by Xbox API consisted of incomplete estimates of total Xbox Live usage, and does not reflect a complete account of recent usage sessions by the sampled Gamertags. While the data provided seemed reliable in our spot tests, Microsoft tells us the API was "intended to display to each Xbox gamer an approximation of the time spent in a game so that they have the option to compare it with other gamers on the service."
That fault in the underlying data has led us to vastly underestimate total usage times for the apps and games in our usage sample. Graphs and charts that refer to average minutes played or percentage of users who played a game during that 4.5 month period seem to be an order of magnitude lower than the actual per-app usage rates and times. The "My Games and Apps" section of the Xbox One was used by 71 percent of Xbox One players during our sample, according to Microsoft, not the approximately 6.3 percent shown by our data.

For a console that is confirmed to output games in 4K at 60fps, I feel the $499 is justified this time unlike the events of four years ago.

That feels like a personal decision. If you have no need for 4K, then probably. They tout that "everything will look & run better on an X" and while that's probably true, I doubt it's worth $500 to find out.

I am going to upgrade next year when I have 4k tv. No sense to don't now.
