re: Xbox One: S $249 Now / X $499 November 7 2017

Anyone with a Harmony able to successfully map the menu button for Blu-ray playback? Such a simple thing but I hate having to press multiple buttons just to get to the menu; I think it used to work when the Xbox One first came out, but broke with some firmware or something...

25 of the Indie games have been revealed and heres a link to most of the trailers:

SUPER excited that "FRU" is actually being made into a game. The Kinect utilization in that game is amazing.

"Super Time Force" and "The Last Tinker" look like they may be worth picking up as well. I'll also probably finally try "Guacamelee!"

I went to my nearest Wal-mart last night. No PS4s (ghetto province), but probably 8 or 9 XOs. BUT, they were all the green boxes, not the Titanfall bundles. I don't know if that means Wal-mart sold all of the TF bundles, or if they kept them in the back because they "should sell old stock before new stock" but it didn't look good.

Maybe I didn't see it, but are there actual release dates for any of these? I just want release dates.

It was the same deal when I went to Target yesterday: the 'closet' of Xbox Ones was all green and pretty much completely full, but the PS4 one was empty. Didn't see any Titanfall bundles. (Is it a safe bet that there's a correlation? I know if I were in the market for an Xbox One right now, I'd be holding out for that bundle. It's also possible that they have more Xbox Ones than can fit in the closet and are refilling it quickly as new ones are sold.)

Someone was buying something, though, 'cause the Titanfall display up front had been completely picked over.

I can't believe they didn't give the option for Titanfall on the non-bundle systems. Why force Forza instead of giving the customer the option?

They don't have to pay anyone else for Forza. Forza was developed in-house, and published by Microsoft Studios. Everything is theirs.

Dead Rising 3 and Ryse were published by them but were developed by Capcom and Crytek, respectively.

Is there a way to view all your achievements you've earned online. Xbox.com only shows 360 achievements. Seems like a step backward if you cannot.

You can see them on the SmartGlass app. I think you have to go game-by-game, though.

You can also signup with http://www.trueachievements.com/ .

so strange to me that TA can see the achievements, but Microsoft's own site can't show them.

It's because MS wants you to use Smartglass, not the website.

Microsoft to implement Direct X12 later this year... hopefully this will help close the resolution gap.

Here's a great article of what this means for bridging the gap between PC gaming and the Xbox One:

http://www.eurogamer.net/articles/di...ng-to-xbox-one

Microsoft is touting games can be ported in a day from PC to Xbox One in a day with DirectX 12.

I'm pretty confident that implementing DX12 in conjunction with developers learning how to handle the ESRAM and Cloud capabilities will easily close the gap with PS4, if not surpass it in the coming years. Most likely, any games being developed now will be nearly identical on both systems. Only the launch window games did not have final ESRAM specs nor an idea of how to properly utilize it.

I'm not holding my breath, but you might be right. Some upcoming multiplatform games are coming out with the same specs for both systems (Wolfenstein, for example).

It will also help when all of the games are PS4/X1 only, not also last gen 360/ps3 ports. That really kills these next gen games.

Supposedly, Microsoft is touting an increase of 20% worth of Gflops being available to the console with the implementation of DirectX 12. That would put Xbox One's GPU getting close to that of PS4's.

It'll be interesting to see games that implement DirectX 12 and how they'll preform, but we're over a year and a half away (if not longer) from seeing that actually happen.

A year and a half away from implementation of Direct X 12 on the Xbox One?

Yes, Holiday 2015. Then game development time. I'm still not seeing this bringing performance improvements so much as just making things easier for developers. Direct X is a relatively high level API isn't it?

The difference with 12 is that it provides lower-level access, a la Mantle.

Gotcha, I hope it works a touch better than Mantle, which seems to run a little better but tends to look a little worse. Of course, Mantle is also in its infancy.

Good things these consoles are meant to last 8 or more years.

If it means devs can actually port from PC to XO in 1 day, that's a big deal. I really don't think that's going to happen, though.

According to VG Chartz, the One sold 113,549 units in the US last week with the launch of Titanfall. That's pretty great (that includes Titanfall bundles)
