re: The PlayStation 4 / PS4 Thread: Still Going Strong

The "hours of gameplay" number (933) can't be right for me. Unless it's also including all of the hours that a PS (3 or 4) was on while not gaming (such as streaming video and downloading). I only played games on 122 days, and my average gaming session was not over 7.5 hours.

Besides that, I had 17 games (though some of them were just for a few minutes) and 375 trophies (including one cheap-ass Platinum for Nier: Automata where it lets you buy all of the other trophies ). Mass Effect: Andromeda was my top game with 113 hours. Which sounds crazy but it was a long ass game. My gaming hours also tend to be inflated since I tend to pause things and then go off to do other stuff ... forgetting about the game until hours later when I notice it's still on pause.

0 hours played online, but it says I saved $44.95 with my PS+ membership. So I just about broke even

Looking at my trophy details, I guess I did play pretty close to 17 games (though the first and last games were only partially played in calendar 2018). My games were:

Uncharted 4: A Thief's End
Deus Ex: Mankind Divided
Gone Home
Day of the Tentacle Remastered
NieR: Automata
The Wolf Among Us
Hatoful Boyfriend
The Walking Dead: Season 2
Mass Effect: Andromeda
INSIDE
South Park: The Fractured But Whole
Danganronpa 1 and 2 Reload
Uncharted: The Lost Legacy
Final Fantasy XV

Mine's pretty funny, I might win with fewest titles. I guess that's what happens when you have an Xbox, PS4, Switch, and Gaming PC and play games across all 4. And yet, God of War and Spider-Man were my top 2 favorite games of the year.

3 different games
Top Games:
  1. God of War - 50 hours
  2. Horizon Zero Dawn - 39 hours
  3. Marvel's Spider-Man 33 hours
126 hours of gameplay (0 online)
114 trophies

I had the exact same thing, except with Destiny 2. Not sure how I have an hour on there since I didn't even download it when it was free (since I already own it) and it's not even installed. Bizarre.

This would also line up with why they are skipping E3 this year, they won't have much first party stuff to show if they are currently working on next generation stuff (and hopefully some kick ass launch titles, like a follow up to Infamous)

Well, you really shouldn't abandon your existing platform just because you're working on a new console. Keep the new titles coming until the new console is out. This seems especially true if there isn't a massive architecture shift that would prevent developing for both generations concurrently.

re: The PlayStation 4 / PS4 Thread: Still Going Strong

It doesn't sound like they are completely abandoning it. They still have The Last of Us 2, Ghosts of Tsushima, Days Gone, Death Stranding, Dreams, etc. And just like last generation, I wouldn't be surprised if we have several games that are cross gen for the first year or so while a player base is building with new consoles. Like you said, the architecture is going to be very similar, while the new consoles will just be more powerful.

Bloodborne Remastered needs to be a launch title, in 4K with locked 60 fps. I'll buy a PS5 on day one with that

re: The PlayStation 4 / PS4 Thread: Still Going Strong

Looks like PS3 support is slipping away. Hope the BFBC2 servers stay up forever! Got this email:

As a reminder, after March 8, 2019, the Monthly Games provided to PlayStation Plus members will no longer include PlayStation®3 (PS3™) or PlayStation®Vita (PS Vita) titles. Any PS3 or PS Vita Monthly Games downloaded or previously added to your Download List prior to March 8, 2019, will still remain playable for as long as you remain a PlayStation Plus member. Beyond March 8, 2019, PlayStation Plus Monthly Games will only include PlayStation®4 (PS4™) titles. All other features and benefits of the PlayStation Plus service will remain unaffected.

Further actions
If you do not wish for your PlayStation Plus membership to continue after this change has taken place, cancel your subscription or turn off auto renewal so that your membership period ends by March 8, 2019. When you cancel your membership, your subscription will end at the conclusion of your current billing cycle and you will not be charged additionally. You can use these direct links to check when your next subscription payment is due and manage your account. You'll need your Sony Entertainment Network sign-in ID and password to log in to your account:

That's actually pretty good if Target honors that price before their b2g1f deal is over.

re: The PlayStation 4 / PS4 Thread: Still Going Strong

For anyone who is sort of a PS4 Dualshock Guru...I have a bit of a riddle(Issue) that has left me stumped.

I currently have a total of (3) Dualshock Controllers....
(A)...an original that I call the Franken Controller since it's one of the original ones that came with the Launch PS4 and I have used parts from the other to keep it going. I also added a high power battery that fit with some modification and re-doing the wiring on the connector. And it worked like a charm....
(B)....A Magna Red that is the newer version that I bought 2yrs ago..."CZT2" model.
(C)...A Midnight Blue "CZT2" I bought a month ago.

About two months ago the controller I had (A & B) started acting up. I wouldn't say it was that drifting on it's own rally bad but some hesitation and then it would drift slightly and stop. I thought it was Bluetooth inference so I moved my USB Skullcandy Transmitter and even the WD 4TB USB drive away. I have an Access Point but it's not on all the time and it's a good 3ft away. Yet both act the same way and on top of that...the more puzzeling aspect...they'll turn off. I'll be playing and suddenly I see "Dualshock Disconnected"...and this happens to both.

Yesterday I even did the Re-Build Player Database and cleaned up the drives and still it happened. I've even tried resetting and connecting the controllers....and yesterday both did the same thing. I've even done the mess with rotating the Thumbsticks all over several times to loosen up anything and still the same issues.

(C)...yet on the new controller, it works normal and fine...no hesitation, no lag, no drifting and doesn't turn off on its own.

So I don't know if by some coincidence there's something loose on the inside of both that's causing the same issue(s) and if so what to look for but it's odd it's happening to both controllers; one original and one the newer version yet not effecting the current new one I just got. I'm stumped.....

re: The PlayStation 4 / PS4 Thread: Still Going Strong

I have two older controllers and both have jittery analog sticks (like at times you press up and the guy just sits there) and disconnect issues, though it doesn't happen often. The latter, I figure the battery was on it's way out (because the batteries on these things suck and they constantly need a recharge anyway). But I have a new one that's perfect.

There's a way to reset the controller with a paperclip, have you tried that? It's like halfway down this page:

Thanks and I found the issue...don't know if I should feel like an idiot or didn't use some basic common sense. I did some digging and apparently a lot of the hesitation, lag, sporadic behavior actually is in the cheesy Bluetooth Antenna inside. I didn't even know where the darn thing was located or much about it in the first place. But I found several threads and videos talking about it along with modding a outside the unit antenna to pick up better reception......

This one the guy has his PS4 inside a wall AV Cabinet, did the mod and added a extended cable to place the antenna even further away....it's pretty funny especially the first part with "Destiny Fans"

All this time I thought it was some interference caused by the USB Drive, Skullcandy Transmitter or something....it turned out to be the AV Stand....which has metal columns in the front and a large flat metal panel in the back with glass shelves. I had the PS4 moved over where the Bluetooth Antenna was slightly behind one of those metal columns. I moved it over to the other side last night...not a single instance of lag, weird sporadic movement period. I went thru about 3-4 games to be sure but not once had an issue. I still might do that mod because it's cheap and easy but for now...took me all of 5 seconds to fix the issue I've had for two months...
