Too lazy for links but there are two free themes right now. Rez Singularity dynamic theme and a static FFXII theme.

The Rez one is pretty sweet.

So with all the deals they are running in the VR I may grab the GT sport bundle. It comes with the game, VR system, camera and a demo disc.

How important is it that I get the PS move sticks which cost 100 and won’t save me anything?

Just be aware of which bundles come with the old version of the headset. I don't think it makes that much of a difference but there are a few alterations.

The new model has headphone integration into the headset itself, so you don't have an extra cord dangling. It also moves all the controls for power and volume onto the headset instead of the inline controls that were on the cords.

The real big difference is the box that goes between the PS4 and TV that the PSVR plugs into. The original model allowed 4K signal to pass through, but not HDR, for some reason. The new box passes through HDR as well. So that only really matters if you have a PS4 Pro and 4K TV.

Currently the new hardware comes in the Skyrim & DOOM VFR bundles, but none of the other configurations.

Don't know if it has been mentioned on site site yet, but there will be more deals on the VR bundles starting next week.

GT VR bundle = $200
Doom VR bundle = $300
Skyrim VR bundle = $350

I was lucky enough to get in on Nebraska Furniture Mart deal on the Skyrim bundle for $250. It actually shipped yesterday and should arrive by Tues. of next week.

Ok I may grab Doom bundle so I have the newest set up.

Is there a way to tell if it’s the new VR setup by not going to the store or just trust the Doom bundle?

Do I need the “move controllers”

So why is there a Destiny 2 icon that says "buy now" on my home screen? When did they start doing this? Ugh.

Yesterday or the day before, I think. Here's how to get rid of 'em.

re: The PlayStation 4 / PS4 Thread: Still Going Strong

I picked up the old version of the VR for my son for Xmas for $160 at Walmart. He doesnt have the PS4 Pro nor does he need the headphones anyway so it worked out great. He loves it. I have to admit it is pretty neat.

Until Dawn Rush of Blood makes nice use of the Move controllers, the movement of your arms is more realistic. The game may still be free for PSN+ subscribers.

re: The PlayStation 4 / PS4 Thread: Still Going Strong

Is there a way to play disc-based games online with someone that doesn't have the game?

I got my son a ps4 and that one is now my primary with the main one being his so we each have access to all the digital games and can play together no problem since we can both play. However any games that are disc, we haven't been able to play as using share play only lets us either watch the other or play but with one controlling the other's person, not together with both accounts.

I don't think so.

For digital purchases, the ability to play two copies from one purchase is mostly a side-effect of how they implemented authentication. The "main" console stores authentication directly on it to make it easy to play games as any user account on it, while they also allow you to "take" your game to another console, theoretically to a friend's house, and play it via the purchasing user account logging in, authenticating it off that account. They didn't want one of these being blocked by the other in the off chance someone was playing at "home" while the purchasing user was "away" playing on another console.

So the way you're playing digital purchases, on two machines in the same house simultaneously a lot, isn't really something Sony intended, but it's also something they can't block without making digital purchases a lot less user friendly.

With game disc purchases, the only authentication is via the disc, so you need a copy of the disc in each console that wants to play it. The PS4 has no way of knowing that disc is one you own, one you rented, or one you borrowed from a friend, so it stores no permanent authentication, and always checks for a disc.

You may be better off selling off the disc copy and buying it digitally, unless a used disc copy is really cheap, then just buy a second disc.

re: The PlayStation 4 / PS4 Thread: Still Going Strong

Thanks. Yeah thankfully most of the disc ones are older so it'd be cheaper to pick up another. I just wanted to make sure I had tried all the options correctly before heading that route.

There were and are a couple I thought that allowed you to send a "Invite/Code" to play co-op even though they didn't have the game...Far Cry 4 was one.

I have not used the "Share Play" feature but it's basically a virtual reality "Couch co-op"...but not all games use or allow it. Has a 60 minute timer that you can reset. You can play and they watch, hand over the virtual controller and they play and you watch and supposedly both can play together. Give it a shot and see what happens....

Yeah we tried Share Play and all it did was let him play as my guy, nothing would let us play together as the two accounts to say team up in Wildlands for example.

It's not a big deal as most new games are digital so except for GR Wildlands, everything is older so cheap to pick up another used copy.

re: The PlayStation 4 / PS4 Thread: Still Going Strong

Hey guys I can use a little help.

So I love in the mountains and cant afford the SUPER expensive internet and for those that can, its usually only a few gigs and you cant download anything (streaming doesn't even work). Now for my it looks like after a year I have to update my PS4, while I am at it, Id like to download a few games from the PSN, my question is - can all this stuff be downloaded to a thumb drive and than just install to my PS4 from there?

Any advice or instructions would really help out. Thanks.
