This is pretty amazing! The Playstation Network is so stable and speedy, this will work like a charm!

What have you guys done with the old 500 drive afterwards? Can it be plugged into a Wii U? Also I've seen rumors that PS4 may allow externals with an update.
So there's no easy way to transfer data? You have to backup your saves to the cloud and then download everything again? Maybe I should do this now while there's not many games out...

Which drive did you buy?

It sounds like you need Premium. Free would mean hearing ads every so often, which would be kind of terrible while gaming.

Also since you mentioned it, on mobile phones, Spotify free has changed. You can play playlists/albums in shuffle mode only, with ads thrown in. Paying for Premium adds a bunch of options, removes the ads, etc.
The mod on the blog confirmed "Yes. Both versions of Spotify, free and premium, will be available when we launch Spotify on PlayStation Music."

FWIW : I tried a year of Music Unlimited when it was $12 during that promotion and kind of liked it, but the interface on my phone was pretty terrible. This is much better.
The interface of Music Unlimited was an all around disaster on every platform. Spotify ripped off the older version of iTunes and it works beautifully.

Yup, backup all saves and download all games. The drive was pretty easy to drop in though. I followed this guide:

Bought this HD:

http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00...?ie=UTF8&psc=1

Reformatted the old HD on my PC, and have a Y cable on the way to plug it into the Wii U.

Set up 26 full games to download last night, A-Z. When I checked on the PS4 this morning it was at Diablo

I'm sure it works for Wii U, though I haven't tried it. I'm using mine for the Xbox One to watch digital downloads, maybe later I will transfer shows from my DVR+ if I can learn how to convert the files and can edit our commercials.

Yes. I did mine to a jump drive over Christmas though when PSN was down. It was a huge PITA. You have to copy your saves one at a time. It was very time consuming. I'm not sure how much faster the Cloud would be but you still have to do it one at a time.

I'd recommend doing it early on in a PS4 purchase, if not day one just to not mess with that hassle.

As for the extra drive, I put it back into the PS4 box in case I need to reinstall it for some reason. I have a few 500GB ones lying around already and larger ones are cheap enough to just get one if I need it.

If you even need a warranty (or out of warranty) replacement from Sony, they ask you to return it to them with the original drive. I'd recommend doing that (putting the 500 GB drive somewhere safe) rather than using it somewhere else for that very reason. I was able to swap my 60 GB PS3 Phat for a 160 GB Slim PS3 for $99 after it died because I was able to locate that original HDD.

I'm not sure if everyone is aware but I was just looking around on the "Store Front" and saw the EA Sale and they have Plants vs Zombie:Garden Warfare at $10.00. Is anyone else playing this and if so how is it, is all MP or some co-op, SP or what?

It's a great game - lots of fun as a kid-friendly online-only simple FPS. It went free for a weekend two months ago for PSX.

Well, it is down again. Can someone just put an end to all of this before these guys suck the fun out of gaming?

Yeah, this is getting a bit ridiculous.

Sony needs to really learn how to develop a rock solid network.

PS3 seems to be working. But PS4 is all kinds of fucked up.

Well.

SOE Turns Independent, Eyes Xbox Support
Developer of H1Z1 and Planetside 2 ready to build games for multiple formats.
by Rob Crossley on February 2, 2015

Sony Online Entertainment, the company responsible for MMOs such as Planetside 2, H1Z1, and DC Universe Online, has broken away from Sony and is now operating as an independent company.

The extraordinary transition was made possible after Columbus Nova, an investment management firm based in New York, had bought out the company for an undisclosed sum.

"This means that effective immediately SOE will operate as an independent game development studio where we will continue to focus on creating exceptional online games for players around the world, and now as a multi-platform gaming company," the studio wrote.

"Yes, that means PlayStation and Xbox, mobile and more!"

Wow, crazy. But also makes sense given that SOE probably wasn't a big asset for Sony and their properties were hit or miss.

Decided to start a separate thread for this, since it's news is probably less relevant to just the PS4....

Guess their games count now.

Should be in the XO thread. Doesn't affect anybody else.

I just want to play Planetside 2. Don't really care who else gets it.

Supposedly, it's been submitted to SCE for release, but I'll believe it when I see it.

re: The PlayStation 4 / PS4 Thread: Still Going Strong

I'll ask this over at the Borderlands Handsome Collection topic as well....

....but is anyone here thinking of getting the Borderlands Handsome game out next month but hasn't played it before? Reason why I'm asking is I played the crap out of it on the 360, both BL1 & 2 but won't be able to move my data over so if I do get it I've got to start from scratch. The game is so much fun when you get a couple and go thru the game with everyone at the same time...and not with one like Level 60 while you're at say Level 15-20. I wouldn't mind picking it up but not to tag along just to get leveled up.

I'm in the same boat as you. My best friend (who you've met in Destiny) and I played the Hell out of the first two games on the 360. We will certainly get this. Don't know for sure how much we'll be playing of BL2 but will be starting over from scratch and would love some company.,

Starting from scratch as well, at least for the Pre-sequel. I got my fill of BL2.

Great....now to figure out if I can get both Bloodborne and Borderlands. I really miss Borderlands...that was just so much fun and plus I never did the Pre-sequel for the 360. Why go backwards....

re: The PlayStation 4 / PS4 Thread: Still Going Strong

So did anyone else try out Apotheon yet? I barely played any, but I was impressed so far. Reminds me a lot of Guacamelee, but with far (FAR) less humor and some pretty good voice acting. Also a little bit like that space ship platformer Insanely Twisted Shadow Planet. Pretty combat-heavy for a platformer, but that makes it interesting and a little different. You have true combat rather than just button spamming. Love the art style -- could have been gimmicky basing the look on a Greek vase, but it works really well and I love how torches illuminate things and cast shadows.
It's a really nice freebie to give away at launch. Need to play a lot more of it.
