"Francis" is one of my favorites. It's too bad that some people are total dicks to him.

So yeah, that new crowd is pretty damn impressive. Though it does seem a little too white...at least in the Yankee screenshot. For me, it's the attention to detail on everything. The fact that the patches on the uniform look like they have depth to them, really all the stitching looks like it has depth to it. The stuff they did on the Green Monster scoreboard. The stitching on the gloves. I mean a lot of this detail is stuff you'll never see unless you do these kind of zoomed in screenshots, but they're all there. For being the only real baseball game on the market, they could have just stood pat with their game and it would have sold well. But they decided, at least by the looks of things, that they wanted to push sports games to the next level. I just hope the gameplay matches the beauty. I don't mind the long wait if this is what the result is. |

The Show looks rediculous, as expected.
Kids in the stands  |
re: PS4 Release Thread: Kill Launch App #Driveclub due October 2014!!!
Serious question: Has "The Show" series of games typically been pretty fun? Or is it the more complex type of game with mechanics that may not make sense (or worse, may be a deterrent) to someone who isn't heavily into baseball stats, team-making, etc.?

Hitting the ball in The Show is about as hard as hitting a ball in real life.

I never play my sports games enough to justify the purchase, but I plan on at least renting this one from Gamefly. Look amazing.

I could strike out on every at bat using the default settings --- and NO, I don't want to play 30 games before I get good at hitting. So I up the attributes that help me hit better and I let the cpu field and run for me. I still "throw" the ball but I'm not good enough at hitting D-right, RB and A button to make my player slide to the right side of second base. |

The baserunning controls in The Show have always driven me insane. Though, I haven't played the last few releases, so I don't know if they might have added TRUE classic baserunning controls, you know the ones that are actually easy to use like Baseball Stars and games like that from back in the day.

The only Show I played was '13 for the Vita. I really enjoyed Road to the Show. Is the PS4 the lead platform?

Preview of coming attractions if you're into sharing stuff:
Here at PlayStation, we listen closely to your comments and requests, which are weighted heavily when looking at the future of our platforms. Since PlayStation 4 launched, we’ve heard a lot of great feedback from you about what you like with the platform and what you’d like to see us work on. I’m happy to report that, as a direct result of your feedback, we’ll soon be bringing some of your most-requested features to PS4 with a system software update in the upcoming weeks. These features and additions will help make your PS4 even more socially connected by further enabling you to customise your most epic gaming moments and granting even more options to show them to your friends. This upcoming update will add a rich video editor with a simple tool to personalise your video clips, and you’ll also be able to export to and save the videos and screenshots you create by pressing the SHARE button to a USB drive. In addition, this update will add an HDCP off option for capturing gameplay via HDMI, a feature we’ve previously said would come after launch. We recognise that some gamers want to record and share longer clips of their gameplay sessions, and we’re excited to deliver this option with PS4. There’s a lot more coming in this update as well, so stay tuned for more — there will be plenty in the update to excite everyone. As part of a separate system software update in the future, we have been working with our partners at Twitch and Ustream, and will also be adding the ability for Twitch broadcasts to be archived – another highly requested feature among PS4 fans who are taking advantage of the SHARE button features. These broadcasts will be also provided with a higher resolution of 720p, so PS4 fans can enjoy live broadcasts with clearer images. We’ll have more to come on these updates and more in the coming weeks. |

Oh, and I found a little more info on the crowd. On the PS3, the stadiums had 42 different crowd models. The PS4 version has 1000! That is amazing. I was looking at that shot with Cabrera and you can see a small group of Blue Jays fans in the stands among the sea of orange. I'm hoping they have this tweaked to be more realistic (like more mixed crowds for crosstown games, or bigger Yankee road crews as they're everywhere). |

Sony never mentioned any dates for the VR headset right? I don't think I saw any timeframe in the articles I read.

Surprised all the discussion is about a baseball game and not Morpheus though. |

Ice Hockey on NES (where your player options were Skinny, Normal, and Fat Guy) was the best sports game ever.

I just don't understand the need for a peripheral like the VR headset. That said, I've never used one so I have no concept as to what it brings to the table.

Nope. Very few details, cool news though. I'm going with the Rift since I don't play consoles, but it's probably a good sign for the medium Sony is on board. This will bring some big developers over to VR. Hopefully the product doesn't suck and turn people off of VR.

I don't think a lot of people are sold on VR, especially if it means buying and donning a big ol' head piece like that.
