I thought PUBG was always free?

IIRC it was free while still in beta on PC, which lasted a long time.

I don't think so, unless it existed before coming to Steam as some sort of closed-invite beta or something... I bought PUBG on PC back when it first became available on Steam.

They occasionally have a free-to-play weekend or so (last time was a 3 day event back in June), but otherwise the game has always had a price tag as long as I've played it.

Checking a history of pricing suggests it was never free.

I could have sworn they had a huge beta (10's of thousands of players) before it went to Steam early access, which lasted like almost a year. Very possible I'm thinking of something else.

That's actually pretty possible. I didn't get into it till it hit Steam.

Did they get rid of the Community Section on the official Playstation site? I went there this morning and there's nothing about the Forums and Community, just The Blog. I've been all over the site and nothing on The Forums...like it's gone.

The Double Discount Sale is back. Among the best deals are both Knack 2 and Everybody's Golf for $5.99 each. I have disc copies of both from Redbox, but for that price, I will just grab digital editions.

How is Knack 2? I bought the original at launch and it was... well, an okay launch game. Pretty average and forgettable.

I liked it enough to platinum it, and I don't really chase those. I have to admit to remembering almost nothing specific about it, though. I do recall thinking it was an improvement over the original, which I thought was decent enough.

Seems like perfect PS+ fodder. Might be why it's so cheap. Squeeze every last purchase out before giving it away after the PS5 launch.

re: The PlayStation 4 / PS4 Thread: Still Going Strong

It is prime PS+ Material. But I liked it well enough. It's WAY better than the first game.

Edit : Now that I think about it, these two games will almost certainly be on that new PS5 Game Pass -like service. Don't buy them!

Who's turn is it to buy so that it's free for everyone else next month? I lost track.

re: The PlayStation 4 / PS4 Thread: Still Going Strong

Going to do a duplicate post because I think this is a deal worth checking out :

Heads-up folks : CD Keys is currently selling a 12 Mo subscription for PS Plus for $31.79, a 47% discount on the current price of $59.99. The code comes instantly. Most of us suspect the rate for PS Plus is going to go up soon after the PS5 launch with the new Game Pass - type features in the PS5. I would say it's time to stock up, there doesn't seem to be a 3-year cap on subscriptions like there is for the Xbox. I would hang onto the renewal email from Sony just in case, as it shows your new renewal date.
I'm good until halfway through 2025 now.

It's actually been around $28-$30 almost every week for the last couple months. It pops up on the front page of SD constantly. But good to know for those that don't check there.

re: The PlayStation 4 / PS4 Thread: Still Going Strong

Hey Folks...

I got a question about the ...Gameshare....and if it can be hacked (your account) and all. Reason why I'm asking I posted on a community (Ghost of Tsushima) about my experience and all and about 30 minutes late i get a message asking about it, did I DL it or on Disc and the out-of-the-blue asked if I can Gameshare with them.

Now I've done that with two; both Family but not a other single person even with others I've know going back to the XBox 360 days. Just haven't and besides we're not all keen about accessing accounts and all. To me this is a "Red Flag"...this person has offered me to DL their other games and wants to play Ghost of Tsushima really bad. never played with them before but I just don't know about this one at all...

I would never do that with people you don't know. They could steal your account and there is really no recourse.

re: The PlayStation 4 / PS4 Thread: Still Going Strong

Dumb question time.
If one account on my console has PS+, can other accounts on that console access any of those features? I expect they can't redeem free games, but can they play free games that have been redeemed.by the other account?
