I like the idea of playlists for individual games.

Of course, you’ll need an HDR compatible display as well.
The bolded part is interesting, since I was thinking that really only games would be taking advantage of 1080p HDR on the original and Slim PS4 hardware. However, this indicates that 1080p HDR video is possible to, presuming anyone offers it.

For example, Netflix would likely have to update their app, which they're probably doing anyway for PS4 Pro 4K content. But they'd also probably have to make a special 1080p HDR encode for their HDR content, since I think all of it now is only available in 4K. Also, it currently requires the UltraHD plan, which costs more.

You made a right decision about getting an HDR set. It's what really sets apart regular Blu-ray vs Ultra 4K IMO. I got lucky and have a set that will display HDR10 and Dolby Vision (Vizio P65 2016), and while the content is still lacking, what is there has knocked my socks off. It's a better picture than most movie theaters offer at the moment. Considering almost all new 4K sets will offer HDR, it's the future of tv displays.
Yeah, I am happy that I chose to go with an actual HDR set. It does make quite a bit of difference in the picture. I am really looking forward to getting some tv and game content to take advantage of it but first we have to get the tv mount installed and get it all set up. I also have a 2.0a cable on order from Amazon for the PS4 to take advantage of it. I sure hope games like Watch Dogs 2 take full advantage of HDR as driving around San Francisco will look amazing if they do use it.

I hope you didn't spend too much on a hdmi cable. Pretty much any recent cords will work just fine, i.e. Amazon Basics, stuff from Monoprice, etc.

Nah! I got a 2.0a for 8.99 from Amazon. I also got a few 2.0 cords a few days ago for the components that will not do HDR.

hmmm, makes me wonder about the $12 hdmi cable I have wedged between the rafters in my attic sealed behind drywall now... when did 2.0a become a "thing"?

Technically there's no such thing as HDMI 2.0a cable. All you need is a cord that is decent and high-speed. Some older HDMI cable's won't work but anything honey recent will. HDMI2 is for 4K greater than 30 hz, and the "a" allows for HDR.

Update broke the ability my Harmony used to have to put the PS4 to sleep. Annoying.

Damn...I assumed that would be the case when I turned the system off after the update. Harmony will have to update their sequence for shut-off. Always enjoyed watching the system select Enter Sleep Mode on its own.

re: The PlayStation 4 / PS4 Thread: Still Going Strong

Question regarding the Pro...will it be able to output 1440 to a monitor? Or would it be only 1080 or 4k on an applicable TV?

I didn't notice any folders. Where are they? Or are you supposed to create them?

Create 'em. It's for organizing games/apps.

re: The PlayStation 4 / PS4 Thread: Still Going Strong

EB Games has some promos so I'll probably trade PS3 + games to get a PS4 slim:

https://www.ebgames.ca/Recycled%20Offers

PS3: $50 off (I'm guessing that's "trade-in value" + $50 off PS4 slim)
And I have 3 games worth $8 so that's 3 x $20 = $60

So $110 off (plus a few bucks for other games), roughly $120 off the $379 Uncharted 4 bundle.

Went to EB Games store (first time ever), and the guy insisted that I had to trade 5 games to get the "$8 value bump to $20", i.e. if I traded 3, I'd only get 3 x $8 = $24.

However:

Trade 5 get $100 towards a new Slim or original PlayStation 4

Trade up to 5 games towards the purchase of a new Slim or original PlayStation 4 and receive $20 for each title.

Are they always this confused? Next time I go there, I'm printing all that stuff and bringing it with me.

Played around with folders. Very nice.

Didn't get to play with the pop-up guide yet.

Folders only work for games that you have currently downloaded so it's of no use to me. I delete games when I'm done with them so I only have 3-4 games downloaded at a time.

Yeah, when I pop in a disc, it's icon pops up, so I need to keep the disc organized, not the icon.

Downloaded games are ones I put in folders.
