You pretty much have to re-download everything that is not disc based. When I swapped my hard drive a month or so ago I had to download all patches and digital content again. I used 50 gbs of my bandwidth that day.

Thanks for the info. So besides the "App Save Data"...just reinstall all the DL stuff? is there any issue with any of the Games already paid for or got Free...like Pixel Junket Shooter & Resogun? And when you signed in did it keep your user profile and friends list? it's all this other stuff I'm concerned about. I might hold off closer to the weekend with the Destiny Beta going. I don't see any save data listing for it and hate to see not just reloading it but the possibility of everything done gone...not that really matters but...

I'd do the HDD swap right now Buzz. The beta is down for maintenance until the 23rd.

Thanks for the heads up Ken. For some reason I was thinking Wednesday & Thursday for the shutdown. I'm backing up the sreenshots & videos now. Already have the new drive in, update went flawless, the Saved Data from the Cloud installed right away and now onto my game downloads starting with Warframe first. Most of the game stuff I had I no longer have the disc...traded in. Liked seeing that 850+ GB up there.

has anyone got the sidetone feature to work on the Gold Wireless headset for chat?
I understand you hold down the mute button till you hear the beeps signifying the setting options (2 beeps highest setting) but even at the highest setting any game noise trumps the ability to hear your own voice at all
didn't realize this was an issue till I tried to use it last night to no avail and just read tonight this was an issue ... had never seen this when I read all the great reviews prior to purchasing about a month ago and haven't read anything about a fix

I got the Astro A50 headset. Amazon had factory refurbs for $170. I find the cup design significantly more comfortable than the Gold. The bass is better on the A50 set, but I probably wouldn't have paid an extra $100 for it. The lack of pain is easily worth it.

Has anyone tried to charge their PS4 controller(s) through their cable box? I am able to charge my PS3 controllers via my cable box's usb port but when I try to charge my PS4 controllers it does something weird to my cable box. Instead of charging the controller the cable box instead resets itself and has to reconfigure, which takes a couple of minutes.

I could but I don't like leaving my PS4 in standby mode. It doesn't boot up any faster than it does when it is powered off nor does it do anything else in standby that makes it worthwhile to do so. I am often watching cable so I don't mind using my cable box to charge my controllers since it is already on. However, for some reason the PS4 controllers and the box do not play nice together.

Get the dock. Works well enough for me.

I have read that standard chargers will work with the DS4, though some report having difficulties with Apple chargers. I use a Sony USB charger that I got because it would work well with the DS3.

My router sits next to my couch and has a spare powered USB port, so I charge it through that using the included cable.

I use a blackberry charger. Have a couple from old work blackberries, and the nice thing is that you can keep it tucked under your seating and pull it out for emergencies.
This looks like the one I use, and it's $4 shipped from a variety of vendors:

I assume all varieties of micro-usb phone/device chargers would work.

re: The PlayStation 4 / PS4 Thread: Still Going Strong
I messed around with the chat/game volume settings and seemed like I was able to get it to where the game sound was low enough that I could somewhat hear my own voice in the background but it certainly wasn't coming from inside the headphones like you would hear when doing a microphone check in the PS settings
on another note it seems like no one uses chat anymore am I correct in that assumption
I have been playing Destiny and haven't heard anyone at all with a mic
used to be I couldn't play an online game (Killzone, Uncharted) without hearing everyone talking .... don't care either way but just seemed weird

So, I guess I'm not missing anything. What is the point of it? To hear your own voice so you can judge your speaking volume level? I game in the basement while the family sleeps on the 2nd floor so I think I'm safe and can continue to yell at the microphone.

When I played GTA 5, very rarely did other players have a mic indicator showing. One kid who did was having trouble with golf and cursing strenuously. Then he noticed the indicator next to my ID. Somewhat sheepishly he says, "Uh. You have a mic?"

I guess I can answer my own question as it appears from what I just read voice chat in Destiny is limited to people on the same fireteam
I assume that means it has to be someone on your friends list or someone you initiated inviting into your party/team and that you won't be able to chat or hear chat from just randoms

Thank fucking christ! The last thing I need is to hear racist and/or homophobic comments from randos while I'm playing Destiny.
