Just stopped playing it after 5 or do hours worth. Shit, it's pretty damn cool but some of the newer creatures are strong as hell and hard to kill sometimes.

Are you stuck on the Maine area or can you travel back to Boston back and forth?

Re: Fallout 4
I really need to finish this...ugh. I haven't played in months. Now with summer upon us I have no idea when I will get time to go back to this.
|
Re: Fallout 4
I'm deep into the main mission finally. I'm at a level 75 for my character but the attraction to exploring the entire far harbor is quite daunting, because most of the new creatures are super fast and somewhat hard as hell to kill. That takes a lot out of you. Granted, I started the new map when my character was at a 70, but still.
The factions have now come into play but it's not as clear cut as they were in the Commonwealth. You don't have to pledge allegiance just yet. I'm taking a break for a bit then will get back to it later today. |
Re: Fallout 4
Just finished the DLC. I finished the main storyline then went back and finished it with the Brotherhood ending. The first was better.
I should also advise folks that they should have Nick as their companion. |
Re: Fallout 4
Went ahead and finished the Atom storyline, too. I liked the first ending that I finished. Now that there's nothing else I'll probably explore the rest of the island.
|
Re: Fallout 4
I just started playing Far Harbor tonight and am already having some bad luck. Twice the game froze up on me. The first time was when you first enter F.H. via the boat and the second was with the side quest "Blood Tide". Had to quit and restart the game. A minor annoyance but I think I'll wait till the first patch comes out.

Re: Fallout 4
We finally got around to playing quite a bit along with some on Friday night. We just got Sanctuary done with the settlement and now have "Go To Diamond City" and help the settlers in "Tenpines Bluff"
We're liking the game with the vast amount of just looking and exploring but some it is getting a bit too much...like the collecting and storage part. We're collecting a lot of stuff but seems we're not really able to use much for the various parts of crafting. There are a few Cooking, Gun and Chemical recipes I've done but a majority seems it's missing one or two or I don't have but one of the ingredients and don't want to spend it. We've got a lot of stuff at Red Rocket and Sanctuary and we don't know what we have and what we don't have. I read at some point you can access the location (share)? The other part was some of the building the settlement got bogged down. Several parts just didn't want to connect. I tried building metal houses from various parts and could never get the walls to turn around and connect...all they wanted to do was go straight out, never turn. And the electrical part....you need to be an electrician to understand the connections, poles and switches. I like the vast amount of choices but it would be nice to include a bit of helpful stuff on what is what and what goes where. I got the Water Purifier down by the edge of the creek, put a small generator up near the bridge high enough and ran the cable without much issue. But my friend tried it and was getting where the generator didn't have enough juice. On my character I've put most of the points in Strength, Charisma and Intelligence. Luck has the fewest, Perception above it with Agility & Endurance in the middle. |
Re: Fallout 4
I will probably pick this up soon. Really liked Fallout 3 but didn't get into New Vegas.
I will be done with Uncharter 4 soon and since the price on this has come down a bit, I am going to jump in. Also seems that Far Harbor is pretty sweet. |

Luck has the fewest, Perception above it with Agility & Endurance in the middle. I'd max out Luck and Charisma first. You'll get some awesome perks from those. As far as the cities and settlements I never bothered with those. I can't build for shit, so that was a pass. I did learn how to craft weapons and armor, though. A tip: equip your character with some carrying capacity, whether it's armor with pockets, etc., or perks that up your weight carrying ability. Comes in handy. I am at my limit in terms of what I can carry, so I keep some Grilled Rashtags handy, because they give you an extra 25lbs carrying bump. |
Re: Fallout 4
Thanks you for the tips on the armor. How can you tell what pieces have '"deep pockets" to allow to carry more? So Luck does has some usefulness? I figured Charisma for sure
I just finished the tenpins where I had to go to the Corvega Factory....wow. Between it and the town next to it (Liexington I think), those two make Sanctuary and Concord look like a shack. I loved the view from at the top of the factory though. Oh...can you fast travel anywhere and what is the "Fast Travel Mat" for; to put in any place you want to? |

I'm assuming you mean the one you can build in towns? That just controls where you spawn when you fast travel. You can't leave it in the middle of nowhere or anything. |
Re: Fallout 4
Thanks....oh; where can I get "oil". I need to build a Sentry in a town but lack one. I have no idea where I picked up the other oil when I built the other sentries.

Re: Fallout 4
Do I have to start the Valentine Detective Agency missions to get to the new DLC map?

Gas cans, blowtorches I think, oils cans, paint. I'm sure there's more. |

Re: Fallout 4
I'm starting to max out what I can carry too fast. I'm up to 290 weight but seems I'm always getting maxed out to fast. I carry several different guns with various ammo types to spread that around and various health aid stuff. I try to unload the junk quickly and now just look for junk I know that comes in handy...but at the same time I'd like to carry some stuff I can sell and trade. Is there a Light Version of what you really need? I still haven't made it to Diamond City just completing the Cambridge Police and Call To Arms
Speaking of which I got asked to join The Brotherhood and I went with the "I dunno let me think about it" choice. If you join one you cannot join another right? Is it worth upgrading any of the "Pipe Guns"....I have a 10mm, Laser Pistol, Sawed-off Shotgun, Laser Musket, and several various Pipe Guns at different caliber. |
Re: Fallout 4
Luck is awesome, I love Mysterious Stranger.
My two favorite perks are Mysterious Stranger and VANS. I regret getting Cannibal. I'm in the same boat re: stuff. I'm always carrying about 70% of my capacity, so I have to run to dump/sell stuff very often. I try not to carry (long term) any aid stuff that causes Rads, or that weighs more than .1. Then again, I am carrying one weapon for almost every ammo type, so that gets heavy. I make my companion carry the real 'big guns' (missile launcher, minigun) till I want to use it. I haven't advanced my Science or Big Guns all that much so I find weapons that are a lot better than anything I can build. I'm not really a fan of the crafting or Homestead (whatever they're called) aspects of the game. I will defend them when they're attacked, and if i get sent to build one I'll do it, and I add a supply line and make sure people have food water and beds but I don't get fancy with building or anything. I've probably got close to 80 hours in it. I haven't even permanently joined a faction yet (though I think I'm close to being offered membership in at least one.) I've gotten three companions to Idolize me and earned their perk so their storylines were fun. |

My biggest money maker is the various forms of ammo out there. Ammo does not count towards weight limits, so you can horde it and then sell it to vendors. |
Re: Fallout 4
I only got the Wasteland Workshop because I had purchased the Season Pass (plus I wanted the Achievements, since I've got 100% in all the Fallout games), and I kind of hate building stuff, but I totally love my drive-in guarded by 10 or so Deathclaws (a bunch of different kinds which is pretty cool, much easier to check them out when they are tamed). I especially love when attacked by Supermutants, as soon as the Deathclaws run over to them they are dead in about 1 second.

Re: Fallout 4
How often do you actually use the Power Suit? I used it on that one mission where you actually got it and haven't used it since. I have two Power Cores half charged and six fully charged

Re: Fallout 4
I went to the Sat Dish off to the east of Sanctuary. There was a armored suit near a crash. I went up to it and nothing happened. I hit some button, nothing happened but when I moved I put a Fusion Core in went around the front and Preston jumped in. Is this his suit and do I need to keep putting cores in? It lasted a long time but now it's like a metal skeleton. I picked up some other armor that I tried to give it to him and wear but it won't let me.
Made it to Diamond City but no time to really look around. I did find a trader outside that had some good stuff; like that Samurai Saw Sword which I traded a bunch of stuff for. Is there a secret or good way of taking down the Super Mutants? Seems the only thing really does any damage is cell base weapons. I use the I think called The Final Authority...the one where the Brotherhood guy gives you when you help complete the Call to Arms mission at the Cambridge Police. .....speaking of which I cannot get that to go away. It keeps telling me to speak to Palen (the leader) and I've turned it down, thought about, wanted more into but it stays on. |

Re: Fallout 4
The Armor Suit I got at the crash near the big Dish has a damaged arm. It went into my inventory. When I try to move it back to the suit a message pops up..."Cannot use damaged item until it has been repaired".......I've looked around but I cannot figure out how to repair parts of the suit.
...and we found another suit but it's in a cage that's on a wrecked train. There is no lock; more like some magnetic door....finding new stuff everyday. |

You need to take the suit to any power armor work bench. They're usually in settlements, diamond city market, etc. You'll also need materials to repair each limb. It will tell you. |
Re: Fallout 4
Thanks...so there is a separate work bench from the Armor one just for the Power Suit?
|
Re: Fallout 4
Anyone mess around with mods at all? I downloaded a bunch but not sure how to use some like the campfire one. I think you have to craft to sue the weapons you download.
The springtime in wasteland one is cool too. |
Re: Fallout 4
Their servers suck. I was kicked off after five minutes of looking at mods. Now I can't log back in.
|
Re: Fallout 4
I'm not touchihg mods till I finish Vanilla FO4. By that time there should be some awesome mods. Although I said the same with Skyrim but have yet to finish that one

I must be standing in the wrong place or something because that's where I'm at...or at least the suit is. I'll try again tonight.
