Re: Fallout 4
Thanks everyone for the tips on ammo. I got the scrounger perk which made a big difference.
From what I can tell, weapons don't seem to degrade like they did in the previous games. Am I wrong? |
Re: Fallout 4
They do not. Which is the best improvement. For the first few hours I kept holding on to multipes till I realized they don't break :)
|
Re: Fallout 4
I'm at level 29 - probably nowhere near finished with the game. I'm just working on my weapons and armor upgrades and perking up, as well.
Been doing lots of clean up missions for that prick at the police station. |

Re: Fallout 4
They probably realized pretty early on that inventory clutter was getting out of control between junk for breaking down and repairing weapons/armor.
That's one thing I'm glad they got rid of. I'm about 80 hours in now, and while I like it and it's fun, it's not the Fallout game I want. They continue to remove more and more of the RPG elements from the game and it bums me out. |
Re: Fallout 4
Gonna get the "alien blaster" when I get home.

Re: Fallout 4
When I leave diamond city, I get my ass handed to me. I'm pretty much broke, weak, and pathetic.
Gonna have to figure out how to level up quick. "Very easy" my ass. |
Re: Fallout 4
I spent a few hours leveling up by improving settlements. Yeah, so basically if you put up a radio tower/beacon in your camp then expect it to get raided at some point. Sanctuary was peaceful and at a constant 80% happy until I added the tower then more settlers showed up and and I had to add more food, power, and fight off some Gunnars, too.
I did get the alien blaster. That was a neat little find. I've yet to use it, though. |

Re: Fallout 4
I'm not, I have to stop asking questions cause I'll just keep coming back for more  I'll figure it out. I'm not upset with the game either - it will be a challenge to see how I pull it off and I'm already getting ideas.

Re: Fallout 4
I'm still running around in my vault suit. Where can I get some armor? I'm level 7 just reached Diamond City. My build is a stealthy Sniper and I use Vats.
|
Re: Fallout 4
Fast travel from Diamond City to Sanctuary or somewhere around there. I didn't even start fooling around the Diamond City area until around level 12 or so and still got my ass kicked several times on normal.

Re: Fallout 4
It's a trip that your character can collect so much junk - it adds up in terms of weight. I've been leveling up carrying capacity and I quickly end up almost maxing it out and just leave some shit behind. Even my companion is maxed out. Gonna have to start storing shit more often. I'm also at a level 30.

Re: Fallout 4
I'm trying to play all sides and not choose a specific faction to follow. So far I've started missions for
Spoiler:

Re: Fallout 4
With junk I've just started to only pick up stuff that contains less common components. To hell with bottlecaps, Screws would be the real currency in this world...

I've only done some missions for the Minutemen and Brotherhood. |
Re: Fallout 4
I've done missions for all of those, haven't seen any others.
|
Re: Fallout 4
Seems like Skyrim had more than 4 factions.
|
Re: Fallout 4
4 factions are all there is and there is a point of no return for each, I believe. So, if you want to get all of the achievements in one go, you will need to make some key saves to return to later on.
|
Re: Fallout 4
Continued with the settlements and set up routes. I came back to one of the settlements and some of the settlers were full blown minutemen complete with the trademark outfits and lasers and addressing me as General. It was pretty neat.
|
Re: Fallout 4
I also noticed that once you have enough settlements they get randomly kidnapped and you can either go and rescue them or pay the ransom. I always rescue them just to get the XP.
|
Re: Fallout 4
The only thing that annoys me about those repeatable settlement missions is when they send you to the same place you're already done a mission at and set up as a Minutemen settlement and they act like you've never been there and they're surprised the Minutemen exist/are helping them.
I've had like three of those at Sanctuary (which is the main Minutemen settlement) and I get the same surprised dialogue every time. |
Re: Fallout 4
When you scrap a house, do you get the material from the junk in it or do you need to scrap or take the junk out first and then scrap the house?
|
Re: Fallout 4
As of this morning I've logged 101 Hours. Sitting at lvl 32. Did the Silver Shroud Sidequest and is my favorite SQ so far. I looked at my time and it took almost three hours to complete! That's unheard of in today's game world. Most other game companies would've cut that out and sold it as a $5 DLC.

How are you at such a low level with so many hours? I've played less then half that amount of time and I'm at like 37.

Gonna have to figure out how to level up quick. "Very easy" my ass. I have just been wandering and getting Exp that way, stumbled upon the Brotherhood of Steel, and got an excellent weapon (though running out of ammo). A great gun goes a long way. One thing I recommend is getting the ammo perk to find extra ammo, it helps keeping your best common guns stocked. It's definitely harder than Fallout 3 on very easy, I swear dogmeat just destroyed every enemy in that game, here he goes down quite a bit. |
Re: Fallout 4
My wife is starting to get tired of the game LOL!
Every day she's like "aren't you bored of that game yet?" My reply is always NO I mean I barely started. I'm around 60 hours. Level 24 or so. |

I play on very easy too, I've died a few times, but not an insane amount. I'm only level 12 and haven't upgraded weapons yet, I just got that perk and the armor one.

I'm thinking missions are the way to go for me to get more XP quickly - also, I really do want to finish the story first as I'm into it but I hope ignoring side quests doesn't ruin anything for me. |

Cogsworth gives zero fucks and will charge right into battle, I watched him play chicken with a suicide super mutant when I was clearing out the water treatment plant for the Greygardens settlement:lol: |
Re: Fallout 4
Leveled up and maxed out the idiot savant perk. That perk is phenomenal. It came in handy after Swan scared the shit out of me when he popped out. I must have gotten a 500 XP on his death alone.
Oh, and one of the Super Mutants was talking shit, too. He through a frag grenade at me and yelled out: "Hot potato!" and laughed at me. Almost killed me, too. |
Re: Fallout 4
Had my first run in with an Assaultron on my way to the insane asylum. It did not go well:lol:
