Is that not something you can get through trading? I now know four different people playing, so I figure I can trade for just about anything.

I would assume so, I can't imagine you wouldn't be able to. I only know people via the Internet playing this...kind of. Most of my friends are too busy being adults to play sweet games like Pokemon.

Re: Pokemon X and Y (3DS)

Heads up for those playing:

Folks are reporting a glitch over at GameFAQs that lose you your save file.

The theme seems to be that you should NOT save your game while in the streets of Lumiose City otherwise it may freeze the game and require a complete reset.

I have saved inside of buildings in the city but never outside in the streets, guess I will avoid that now, haha.

In the game, someone mentions that you can prevent Pokemon from evolving. What is the advantage of doing that?

But they're less powerful when they're not evolved, right?

Yeah, to some degree, but I believe that's where EV training comes in as well.

I am far from an expert but from I remember reading way back, some Pokémon will learn different moves or learn good moves faster at lower levels. So they might have a great move they can learn later on, but on their 2nd evolution they learn it at 35 whereas on their 3rd evolution they might learn it at 40. So you might want to keep them on their 2nd evolution long enough to learn that move, then let them evolve again just to get the move a bit earlier.

Another example is Ralts. It evolves into Kirilia at 20. The next evolution can go 2 ways. If you let it hit 30, it evolves into Gardevoir. But, if you have a male, you can instead use a Dawn Stone to instead evolve it into Gallade. I picked up a Ralts early in X and kept it in my party to use Teleport (which is super handy out of battle until you get Fly), and I had to stop it from evolving at 30 until I could go grab the Dawn Stone.

That is way too complicated. How in hell am I meant to keep track of all of this?

I use sites like Serebii and Bulbapedia. There's no way I can keep track of all that stuff either. When I get someone new I'll pull them up on Serebii and look at their evolutions to see if there's anything interesting, or anything I need to know. I don't really worry about the moves and getting them early, since I don't do any competitive battling, I just play the story.

Re: Pokemon X and Y (3DS)

My daughter just found about the Gamestop Mew code yesterday. She called around to several in the area, and they were all out. I guess we weren't following this promotion very closely. It officially ends tomorrow.
