I went to TRU to try the rare pack trick. Out of the 100 packs, they had exactly 1. BB had 2, but they wouldn't pricematch TRU, so fuck them. Target also had 2, but they wouldn't pricematch w/o the physical ad. I've got them on hold, so I'll go back later.

We stopped by TRUS today, before we found out that our data was corrupted, and they had zero exclusive power packs and zero Crystal Lightning Mcqueens after they had quite a few yesterday. It looks like the scalping this on Ebay business is getting started.

I just checked Ebay and there are already pages and pages of listings. Bastards!

Yeah, after this week, forget about the rare packs, the Hot Wheels dealers will just add that to their morning routine (if they actually end up selling).

I'm just bitter because I'm too ashamed to be feeling up a bunch of blind bags regularly... I always miss the lego minifigs too...

I bought 6 rare packs and I got doubles of each rare. The other round disc is always the same for each rare. These packs aren't very random. Ie buzz always comes with the mickey mouse round disc

My daughter has been playing in the toy box for 3 hours. We have not done any of the story mode lol

Any feedback on the base protector? I am not sure it's worth $7.50.

edit: There is no way in hell this disc holder book thing is going to last very long.

Just found out (although I later saw it mentioned on one of the loading screens), if you have a double of one of the circular Ability discs, you can stack them and have it double the effect. Also, you can stack two different ones and some combos will grant you a third bonus ability. I have Bolt's All Damage and Pirates Economy and I get a bonus third ability Enemy Defeat Sparks, which gives you a chance to get more sparks from a defeated enemy. Just to make some of the doubles useful before you trade them away.

I know that Pirates and Fix It Felix also gives you a bonus ability, but Bolt and Fix It Felix didn't seem to do anything.

If you are going to get the disc book from TRUS then you should grab the exclusive one quickly as it it the same price and holds all of the regular discs as well as the exclusive ones and some others.

It sucks that they want us to jump through flaming hoops nude while wearing latex condoms just to be able to play the game right now on the PS3. Delete the patch and disconnect your internet. Who wants to do all that? Also, there is no guarantee that the data will still not be corrupted the next time you boot up.

Got 2 more power packs (both with rares) inside at Target at they PM'd TRU. I think I'm all set, now. I'll save some stuff for Christmas for the boy and make the grandparents buy some of the newer sets once they come out.

You can also buy the packs, fire up the game, and then put the unopened packs on the portal to see what you get. a little bit more work and gas but you can save yourself the headache of having tons of doubles. i dont mind the circular coins since you can stack those and the extras come in handy during co-op. the themes are the worst since you only need one of each and having two of the same vehicle or two stitch blasters stops any fighting between the kids.
