Anyone played the In and Out playset?
I haven't seen the movie, but the playset being a platformer has me intrigued

the game is getting great reviews. mine doesn't arrive until tomorrow. has anyone here actually played yet? I will only have Ahsoka and Anakin, but I will post some thoughts tomorrow night hopefully.

Dammit!! I just opened my package from Amazon. It didn't include the Toybox Takeover. Hopefully Amazon makes this right. I preordered back in June

aaaaargghhh! i am irritated. just got done with Amazon customer service...I had no clue the promotion was you would get a code to buy Toybox Takeover off the site. I thought it just came with your original package. I placed the order but it is out of stock now of course. I won't get it until October she said...at least she bumped it to free overnight shipping.

Yeah, that bites WLJ, sorry to hear that. I had a brain fart and messed up the release dates so wasn't able to preorder it. Luckily, I called my local Gamestop and they had an extra copy of Toy Box Takeover that they sold to me.
So, I went crazy with this shit like I always do. Bought the Saga bundle for PS4, Inside Out playset, Mulan, Sadness, Olaf, Minnie, Mickey, Obi, and Yoda. Bought the digital version of the game for the Xbox One (the kid's console). All of these are bday and Xmas gifts so I could only play with the Republic playset, Anakin, Bobafett, and Ahoska (PS4 is mine and I had to open it, right?
). Really digging the changes so far. The Hub mode is a welcome addition. I can see my kids just enjoying that for a while. Combat is nicely done too but haven't really leveled anyone up much yet. Didn't buy any yet but I like how the discs are not blind buys anymore.

i got the 360 version. i only played for about 30 minutes, but this one is alot more polished than the others. The twilight playset is pretty damned good.

This is tempting to me but I'm not sure if I want to commit to buying all the mini figures. The gameplay looks pretty fun though and I'd like the Star Wars and Marvel stuff but I dunno.

it is soooo much more polished than the previous games. if you like Star Wars go for it. However, buying the figures can get addictive. I never in a million years thought i would get into these types of games. I thought it was so stupid that people bought all this stuff. Now I am one of those stupid people

Yeah, once you start, it is hard to stop. Especially if you have kids. They'll remind you every chance you get of the figures that you don't have yet.

for my daughter it first was Littlest Pet Shop, then Monster High, then Infinity, and now it's all about Shopkins

I do have to say their interest hasn't waned too much in infinity yet. Probably because we don't let them play it too often.

so, what do you think will happen in 4.0? There aren't any legendary franchises untouched...at least none come to mind. What will be the selling point next year?

My guess is that they will look at how the Lego Dimensions turn out and decide if they want something which is a blend of everything or something more brand focused. If it is more brand focused, Muppets would be my guess as far as a large 4.0 bundle/theme.
Indiana Jones Adventure Pack.
More Classic Disney Characters - ie Goofy, Pluto, Daisy, Minnie, Mortimer, etc...
More Modern Characters - Lion King, Beauty and the Beast, Little Mermaid.
Another Idea that could make sense if you have been to a Disney theme park - Pirates and Princesses - Characters in costumes to appeal to boys and girls.

Actually Star Wars are the finale for Infinty3.0
So they will continue to add from movies and all characters in the future.
John Blackburn CEO and co-founder of Avalanche Studios: When we started, we knew we were bringing in Disney and Pixar and live action films from Disney. We knew that the second one was going to be Marvel. Right about that time was when Lucas was then acquired by Disney. We planned out our road map and said, you know what? By the time we get Star Wars in her, that would be the launch. So we’re finishing the launch of Infinity.
We feel like we’re now all things Disney. We promised that we would be all things Disney, and now we really are. That’s what John means. Now you’ll see us, in the future, supporting all the films. We’ll probably never have another thing like this, unless some other big acquisition goes down, but now all the main product families are here.

Are there variations between the systems for DI 3? I havent played since the first one (on Wii U) and i remember it was better/worse on some consoles.

For 1.0, I believe the Wii version was gimped, and DS even more so. For 2.0, the game was the same on all the consoles (there was no Wii or DS version), but I think if you had a next gen system, you had more freedom with what you could build in the toybox (the previous gen systems used up memory rather quickly, and stopped letting you build things). I would expect that to be mostly the same going forward to 3.0

Speaking from first hand experience, DI 2.0 ran a lot better when I switched from XB360 to X1. And more custom toy boxes were playable as well.

I can't confirm this, but I would expect the Wii U version to behave more like the PS3/360 versions than the PS4/XB1 versions.

Have to agree - newer consoles is the way to go. the memory limitations really gimp past gen versions.

Speaking of older versions of DI (1.0, 2.0), is there any good reason to play these? I know you can use the playset pieces to unlock the toy box items in future versions but does anyone go back to play thru the old playsets? I have the game discs and all of the playsets from 1.0 and 2.0 but we've just played in the Toy Box. Wondering if my kids or I will have fun going thru the 1.0 playsets?

I also started with 2.0, but I got 1.0 basically for free from DMR, because I had nothing else to spend the points on, and figured it was worth it for the exclusive characters, if nothing else, and we still pop it in occasionally. My kids enjoy playing the Monsters U, Incredibles, Toy Story, and Cars playsets (They've rarely played Pirates, and never played Lone Ranger--they have no interest in the characters, but I've heard it's one of the best games)

Re: Disney Infinity - Disney's Infinite Moneymaker
I played all the original playsets to unlock all the stuff since my kids were more interested in the Toybox when we got 1.0. Pirates of the Caribbean is the absolute best Playset period. They really nailed the sailing mechanic and the world is the largest of all the original playsets. The lone ranger one is pretty good also. My 5 year old son really likes to pop in the Lone Ranger playset when he plays by himself.
Once my kids got 2.0 they took care of most of the unlocks and main story worlds. I'd help them out only if they were stuck. But I never found the 2.0 worlds as interesting as the PotC Playset.

Re: Disney Infinity - Disney's Infinite Moneymaker
The sailing is why my kids gave up on POTC. They play a lot when my wife is home and I'm not. My wife knows how to turn it on, but can't help them if they get stuck. They couldn't quite figure out the sailing.
