Re: What are you playing? (July 2013)
I'd like to hear your feedback on Planetside 2. Even though it's the pc version this is one game I'm curious about since it'll be available for the PS4. A lot of the XO base is pointing to Titanfall but I see Planetside 2 as being a real sleeper of a hit for PS4 and possibly on a larger scale. The offical site is done really well.
From what I know of Battlefield 3, which I only played it for 1 day and traded it in because I hated it (but that was mainly because I had it for the 360 and playing fps with a controller is not fun for me), Planetside 2 is pretty much Battlefield 3 in a futuristic/sci-fi setting.
I can't recommend it enough and the fact that the game is free still blows my mind.
P.S. If you are wondering why I bought Battlefield on 360 when I don't like console fps's, it's because all my friends play it religiously and I wanted to get in on the fun. Only it ended up not being fun...

Just finished this one yesterday at 76%. Not much in the way of replay value after you're done with the story campaign and is pretty fast to get through but I thought it was an incredible game and loved every minute of it.

Decided to give Dust 514 a second chance. Played the beta and it was not much fun. They've updated the interface and the feel of the combat. I got intoa few matches with players who were communicating and playing the objectives and it was actually fun. I may actuallt check the Dust forumsout and se if there are some active clans/corporations that are willing to divulge the finer points of the game.

I actually just started playing it about a week ago. After seeing you and Chess discussing it in the PS4 thread I decided to try it out and it has completely taken over my gaming time because I am thoroughly addicted.

I don't think everyone expects Planetside 2 to be the same on the PS4 as PC but if it's even close it will make a lot of people forget Titanfall. One of the more fun games I played on the 360 was Unreal Tournament III and it's a rel shame more didn't get into that. I liked the different modes and some of the maps were quite large with all sorts of vehicles, weapons and aircraft. Planetside is 10 times more and the fact it has three factions makes it even more interesting. Everything I've seen of this game is astonishing and like you cannot believe it's free.

Finished this a few days ago:

Working through this:

Whenever I actually finish Dark Arisen, I'll probably jump on this next:

That'll cover me until August, I'm sure.

Just finished Darksiders II.
What a long journey for such an unsatisfying ending....

I don't play online but I've recently tried my hand at some online Battlefield 3, Super Street Fighter 4 and Mortal Kombat. I can't seem to stay alive in any of them for more than five seconds...but that one time in twenty when I actually win seems to be very satisfying.

Still playing the heck out of Marvel Heroes. I just reached the 100 hour mark. Playing that much in one game is very rare for me, especially in a 1 month span. I don't plan on stopping anytime soon. It is safe to say this is my next addiction game that will be played for months exclusively. Dark Souls and Diablo 3 are the other addiction games from recent years.

So, I've been playing the hell out of various DS, 3DS, and GBA games all summer, but I decided to move back to a console game last night.
Tried Skyrim for about three hours...total fucking snoozefest. This is not what I would consider a RPG...maybe some sort of Action/Adventure with RPG-like elements. Probably won't go back for more. Gonna restart FFXIII since my PS3 shit out on me last year before I could finish it.

Don't tempt me, I'm trying to hold off on a Wii U...might grab one on cowboom though considering people are getting damn-near new systems for $200...could be playing Earthbound...

Well the sooner you get it downloaded, the sooner Nintendo gets off of their butts and localize Mother and Mother 3.

i have gotten this game twice. I got it for xmas 2 years ago on the 360. I played it for a few hours and got bored and shelved it. I made the switch to PC gaming last year and I decided to purchase the PC version of Skyrim a couple of months ago during a sale. I played it for a few hours and I was still bored.
The funny thing is I probably put 100 hours into Oblivion a few years ago, so I don't understand why Skyrim just doesn't click for me. I am guessing it is because I have a kid now and less play time. Skyrim requires alot of walking to and from spots. At my age, I just want to boot up a game and have action right away.

Yeah, open-world exploring just has never interested me, just don't care that much. Probably why I could never get into GTA3 and beyond as well.
I downloaded the demos for Double Dragon Neon and Farcry 3: Blood Dragon last night. Actually had a lot of fun with both of them. My older brother and I played a lot of Double Dragon when I was younger, so that was fun to play a recharged version of it. As far as the demo for Farcry 3: Blood Dragon, I was pretty impressed, I really enjoyed that it didn't take itself too seriously at all...and the 80's futuristic look was right up my alley. I will probably buy both of them after trying them out.
