ONe thing you can't deny is the PSX had the greatest startup theme of all time, no matter your allegiance

To be fair, his quote was actually 'if you're backwards compatible, you're really backwards.' It's still a stupid sentiment and I have zero love for MS over the past couple weeks, but he was taking a dig at other consoles (360 included, apparently), not gamers themselves.

Still in the "both" camp. Both are pre-ordered.

After a couple of days for everybody to let it soak in, the tally is 69-2. It's a small sample to be sure, and we aren't the general public, but I'd say this forum is about as X-box friendly as any community anywhere outside of Microsoft headquarters.
They have truly shit the bed. All self-inflicted, and all deserved.

They're chasing after the casual gamer. How did that work out for Nintendo in the long run?

and that's where the blame will fall if xbone fails. It won't be because of the draconian DRM, online check-ins or the all seeing eye in the room. Those are all great ideas that gamers want.

Amazon poll on facebook:
https://www.facebook.com/AmazonVideo...1317646&rest=1
Currently 22,380 to 1,285 for PS4.
That sounds bad, but it's actually better than it's doing here.

I'd be more interested in that poll 1 week before launch date, rather than 3 days after Sony (rightfully) won the E3 PR battle of June 2013. Right now, those results are not at all unexpected.
But to put it in perspective, that's 24,000 votes. Both consoles are going to sell millions of units. Will it be 10m XOs to 200m PS4s? Doubtful.
Sorry, I mean... looks like M$ is getting XBONED! HA!

I'm pretty much in Sony's camp now, after going 360 during the last generation. That said, I think that once it is out, the Xbox One is going to prove to be a fine console. Even with the restrictions (if they stick). I'm just more in tune with the direction Sony is going now. Hell, I should have switched to PS3 about 2 years ago, but I was too lazy. But I definitely coveted the hell out of Uncharted, and a bunch of the indie games on PSN.

I've preordered the PS4, so I'll be getting that for sure. I will undoubtedly own the Xbox One some day, but I just don't like the way Microsoft is handling this thing so far, so Sony gets my day one money.
As far as software goes, Titanfall may be the thing that gets me t buy the XO next spring, unless it's exclusivity to that console is up relativel shortly after its release. And that new Tom Clancy game looked real nice, too.

PS4 preordered. As noted in the PS4 thread...first console preorder ever.
I haven't preordered any games, but I would guess that Battlefield will be the first one.

PS4 Grabs 95% Of Consumer Votes After Amazon Ends Poll Early

With nearly 95% of the vote (approximately 94.7% in favor of the PS4) Amazon has decided to end the user poll between the Xbox One and PlayStation 4 early. Back on June 13th the marketplace giant ran a Facebook poll to see which one consumers were more interested in between Microsoft and Sony's consoles and it appears that gamers have spoken quite loudly with their Facebook voting.
For now, the final numbers read 38984 votes in favor of the PlayStation 4 with only 2162 votes in favor of the Xbox One. Does anyone know how many employees work at Microsoft?
Originally, the poll was supposed to run for a week and end on June 20th, giving gamers plenty of time to cast a vote and comment in favor of the console they were most looking forward to. Unfortunately, Amazon cut the poll short after there was a massive and clearly lopsided showing of favoritism for one product over the other. This could also be an easy indicator for companies to use as a gauge for the potential purchasing habits of gamers and casual consumers alike for this fall.
Thinking about this logically, there's no real reason as to why Amazon would have wanted to end the poll early given all the free publicity and traffic they were receiving from the unbiased and very public escapade. That is, unless things were cut short, potentially, under coercion from upper management?
In reality, the poll was definitely generating a lot of media buzz, especially from gaming outlets who covered the lopsided-as-a-poorly-done-boob-job poll, with an obvious reporting slant given in favor of Sony's upcoming PlayStation 4. It's not unlikely that the whole event could have incurred the intervention of reputation management agents, perhaps?
Personally, I really wanted to see what the voting habits were going to be like at the end of the official session between both consoles, but I guess we'll have to settle for what they ended up with.
Maybe the good folks at Forbes or Polygon can ping Amazon and find out what really happened? If I were a betting man I'd say a very nonsensical and boilerplate PR response is what we'll all end up with. Such is the fate of these kind of events during the propaganda-fueled warfare of corporate giants.
