To answer your question, yes, this game is definitely worth $12. IMO, it's the best racer on PS4.

I don't see why that would be the case. I only encountered a handful of people in the game while I was playing and it didn't really add to the experience in any meaningful way. It pulls the best times from your friends list, so I wouldn't think those would be going away.

Yep, it's a lot of fun. It's integrated online but honestly I never really paid much attention to that aspect either, so don't worry about a decline in the online community, imho at least. It's the second best racer, overall, this generation (behind FH2), though I found this game to be more fun outright, it just didn't have nearly as much content as FH2.

I thought you were always connecting to a host, even if only a person or two was playing. Whenever I would attempt it recently it would lose connection as the host would quit and you'd move to another, but because the player population was less it would take forever to get you back into a game. This was playing purely story mode, not seeking out any kind of online play. I'm talking about pushing start and racing around.

Helluva a deal if you dont have it. And its still the 'current' NFS since there was not one made last year.

Makes sense. Sorry for spreading misinformation. What I described had been my only experience with the game.

Can't confirm at the moment, but I vaguely remember adjusting the connection settings after a couple of instances of other players inadvertently (or maybe on purpose) messing up something I was trying to do.
Edit: But it's not the default, or at least it wasn't at the time.

Yeah, there is a setting where you can choose to not be "online"

Those with EA Access can upgrade NFS Rivals to Complete Edition for $5 this week.
I'm considering it....
