The lighting looks really bad on the right side, but since this was initially developed for high end PCs and ported down to the PS4 and Xbox One it doesn't surprise me. All I can say is nobody should jump to conclusions.

I won't jump to purchase it either. There was nothing in any of the higher end presentations that I don't believe they can't do in this generation of consoles. All you have to do is look at the port of Tomb Raider to see that the graphics can be better than this downgrade.

40 hour game, per IGN.

Re: Watch Dogs

Well to that credit too, Tomb Raider ran ridiculously well on mid-range PCs. Watch Dogs looks like it's going to require a pretty beefy system. And considering it's the first game in a new IP, I don't think I'd jump to purchase regardless of visuals.

But yes I agree, and it will speak loads about Ubisoft's programmers when we see how well it was ported.

That was a little disappointing to say the least. Still, I have it pre-ordered at Best Buy. With GCU and $10 Pre-Order GC, it would come to essentially $38 + tax for the game new. I'll wait for the reviews, but if it gets good enough reviews, I'll pick it up -- otherwise, I'll just rent it from Gamefly.

I hope the PC version still looks as good cranked up. I remember everyone saying there was no chance that the original demo would look like that on the 360/PS3, so it's kind of funny that it doesn't look that good even on the PS4/One.

That may be, but it was marketed as the must-have, envelope-pushing visually stunning Next Gen title at last year's E3. If it ends up looking like Saints Row IV or Crackdown, that won't be an acceptable excuse in my book.

The devs recently mentioned that Ubisoft forced them to reveal at E3.

Interesting. It must be tricky being a developer working diligently on an AAA title with a huge publisher breathing down your neck to get the game out and satisfy their stockholders.

I just don't see how the game doesn't look much better than Mafia 2 on this generation's consoles.

If the game is fun enough, who cares?

Seeing as it, along with inFAMOUS Second Son were the two games that sold me on the Next Gen and convinced me to buy a PS4 at launch, I do.

Please leave your common sense outside. It is not welcome here.

Re: Watch Dogs

So if a game solicits pre-orders and media attentionr for having revolutionary graphics ends up looking like a 2009 Xbox 360 title, common sense dictates that nobody should care as long as it's still fun?
I won't argue that how a game plays is way more important than how it looks (I'm the Ryse hater after all) but to say we shouldn't care at all is a little ridiculous.

I guess we will see then. It's not out til when, the end of May?

Re: Watch Dogs

Yeah, May 27th. Still some time to polish things up I suppose.

FWIW : Big Jim agrees with me 100% on this one:

What is the deal with the road "flashing" in the trailer rather than being lit up by the helicopter? That looks terrible.

Re: Watch Dogs

I have to disagree with graphics not being as important as gameplay....maybe to you hardcore gamers that may be the case but as a casual gamer, It puts me in the game more.

Some examples of what I'm talking about are the minor cut scenes Rockstar uses when your pulling your car into a garage, the lighting inside the apartments, the look of the city at night, character movements, etc....just look at red dead redemption.....it's a beautiful game and of course has great gameplay but you get what I'm saying, good graphics really add to the experience.

Count me in the bunch as well that was in a bit of shock with how shitty watchdogs looked with it's most recent trailer - I was wondering what happened.

I wonder if we are going to hear the same bullshit when The Division starts prepping to release. Remember those sweet graphics that we saw?

Listen, when people applaud graphics here there's a backlash of people who claim you are a graphics whore and there's more to a game than graphics. And now when someone mentions gameplay is more important people are bemoaning that style of thinking. I swear this place is borderline Aspergers sometimes.

To be honest, I didn't think the game looked any more fun than what we already get with GTA games but with much improved graphics. Now, it doesn't even look as good as the most recent GTA game. I think both gameplay and graphics are of equal importance when it comes to current generation releases that are not download only titles. Don't sell us on a game by pushing the next-gen amazing graphics and then dumb them down. Aside from that the game doesn't look to be any type of amazing experience.

Re: Watch Dogs

If it runs better than the last GTA game I'd be happy.

And while Gameplay is plenty important, I didn't spend $200 on a graphics card to play Tetris.

Re: Watch Dogs

I think we should wait until we see the actual game before flipping out over graphics. Someone could have accidentally messed up the trailer for all we know.

OTOH, if I'm Ubisoft I would turn around and release a kickass trailer asap showcasing the graphics. This is a huge release for them.

Because DVDTalk has a single collective mind? I think every situation is different. In this case, showing off great graphics and then regressing is something to be talked about no matter what, especially when we just started a new console generation and expectations are for graphical improvements.
