The best part of today's updates and the brief portion I played this morning before work:
  • The maps apart of Onslaught are how Call of Duty maps should be. Small, but plenty of vantage points to rampage with.
  • The Maverick is the best AR in the game (watch it get nerfed).
  • The IED got nerfed to oblivion (praise Jesus).
  • They reduced the number of lean kills in order to get gold guns (GOLD LMGS, HERE I COME!).
  • More XP for operations (it's a shame they can't readjust for those operations already completed).
  • Improve spawn points.
  • Faster loading times.
It's a shame these fixes came three months into the game's release, but whatever. At least it's enjoyable now. I'm just glad there's a Hardcore play mode specifically for the Onslaught-only maps.

Re: Call of Duty: Ghosts (November 2013)

So, I bought COD:Ghosts digitally on 360 when it was released.
I upgraded to the XO version for $10 on Nov 22nd.

So, if I buy the Season Pass (on XO or 360) does access to the add-ons apply to BOTH systems, or just the system I purchased on?

edit: looks like I found the answer to my own question... sort of. From Activision:
When I buy the Season Pass on Xbox 360, will I have access to the digital content on Xbox One when I upgrade?
When you buy the Call of Duty: Ghosts Xbox 360 Season Pass in the Xbox LIVE Marketplace, you will automatically receive access to download the equivalent Xbox One Season Pass on Xbox One, free of charge. You simply need to upgrade your game and Season Pass to the Xbox One version in the Xbox LIVE Marketplace by May 31, 2014and your content will then be available for download and play on your Xbox One (using the same Xbox LIVE account).
So, if you buy it on 360, then you get it on XO for free.
But, if you buy it on XO, then it does not transfer to the 360 for free.

Weird.

Re: Call of Duty: Ghosts (November 2013)

Digging the new maps and a new Extinction level is welcome, but not sold on the supposed cheating fixes. Been playing casually for the past hour and I've already seen two players with six perks each (with two of the six Off the Grid and Stalker), and I've unloaded entire clips into opponents without scoring a kill in each game I've played.

Played the new maps today, and as a huge fan of the movie Halloween, I loved becoming Michael Myers and having the theme music play as I went on a rampage. Should have been a huge kitchen knife as opposed to an axe, but that's just the movie nerd in me complaining.

Tried playing with it, but switched back to the Remington and felt I was easily beating people that were all using it. It's not bad, but I'm not crazy about it. It does have awesome iron sites.

I LOVE the new maps - especially Fog. How do you become Michael Myers? I saw a Myers pop out of the corner and was freaked out.... great map!!

Re: Call of Duty: Ghosts (November 2013)

Surprised to see no new posts since the end of Jan. Is anyone still playing this?

Stuck the disc in for the first time in a couple of months yesterday and was pleasantly surprised to find new maps, a Predator (the movie, not the drone) care package, a revamped objectives menu, about five or six new "characters" (including Soap and Price), and a slew of new camos, patches, and backgrounds (albeit these last few cost between $1.99 and $3.99, even for Season Pass holders).

So I played a few hours with my son and we enjoyed the some of the new items and maps. Was a thrill to see him hunt people down as a Predator. There's also a near-exact replica of Dome, which was my fave map in COD:MW3. There's also a new feature that enables you to have the game select an ideal loadout for you based on how close you are to completing certain objectives.

Breathed just enough life into the game to provide a couple more weeks' worth of gaming.

My friends and I play it from time to time for Extinction, but nothing more. No wonder, it's the only portion of the game with zero involvement from Infinty Ward.

The new maps are awful (and I loved Dome on MW3) and Infinity Ward still haven't fixed issues that users pointed out four-to-five months ago. The game is a fucking mess and outside of Extinction, I really don't care about it anymore. If I didn't purchase the Hardened Edition, I would've sold it.

Sledgehammer better impress next week or I am cutting the cord with the franchise.

Re: Call of Duty: Ghosts (November 2013)

Picked this up again last weekend - haven't had much time for games as of late but started getting pretty bored with GTA V - I bought the first round of the new map packs - first played on fog which is one of my favs of all time and was caught totally off guard when the halloween theme started playing then saw Michael Myers coming after me - some other player and myself took him out - thought that was awesome.

I still really like this game and plan I buying the next round of new maps soon.

Lol, yeah, I suppose.

Just played for a couple hours--Drop Zone and the new maps, mainly--and the spawning is as bad as ever. Was shot in the back five and would pop up in front of enemies at least a half dozen times per game. Will pretty much just fire it up for my son to play Infected. So disappointing.

Re: Call of Duty: Ghosts (November 2013)

Putting this in the Ghosts thread since it probably doesn't need it's own, but it looks like long time studio Neversoft (of Tony Hawk and Guitar Hero 3+ fame, and helped with Ghosts) is being merged with Infinity Ward to form one studio under the Infinity Ward brand.

Neversoft did all of the work on Ghosts' Extinction mode, which is the only tolerable portion of the game.

Re: Call of Duty: Ghosts (November 2013)

'Call of Duty: Ghosts Invasion' DLC Out June 3, Fan Favorite 'Favella' Returns

What are described as "small to medium," the maps each come with a unique killstreak, coinciding with whatever exotic locale it represents. Notably, 'Invasion' sees the return of 'Favella' from 'Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2.' The launch trailer shows off a bit of gameplay.

<iframe width="560" height="315" src="//www.youtube.com/embed/g6TVU1_txeA" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>

"Departed" is a medium-sized map set in a rural Mexican town during the Dia de los Muertos (Day of the Dead) celebration. The colorfully decorated streets, vendor carts and storefronts provide ample cover for run-and-gunners, and players that complete the map's unique Field Order will unlock the Death Mariachi killstreak. Armed with dual-wielding pistols, the Death Mariachi settles scores, with each kill turning enemy players into another member of the band, and a temporary squad mate."

"Pharaoh" is the abandoned archeological site of an ancient Egyptian palace. Players will have to be on the lookout for collapsing monuments and urns full of flesh-eating scarabs, among other surprises in this multi-level map. Inside the palace, gamers will battle through multiple chambers ideal for close-quarters combat and short-range weapons, all under the watchful eye of Anubis, the half-jackal/half-human, protector of the dead, who will handsomely reward players who unlock this map's Field Order."

"Mutiny," transports players to a remote Caribbean island harboring an eerie pirate hideout complete with abandoned trading posts and prison cells. Speed and stealth are a must as players navigate the narrow and intertwining pathways. However, let ye be warned that gamers taking up positions on the pirate ship moored in the center of the map will become vulnerable to enemy fire from the numerous flanking routes created by the map's horseshoe shaped dock. Players that unlock "Mutiny's" Field Order will find themselves escorted by two ethereal ghost pirates, who will happily send enemy combatants down to Davey Jones' locker on their behalf."

"Invasion's fourth multiplayer map is a refreshed version of the fan-favorite map from Call of Duty®: Modern Warfare® 2, "Favela." Since its original release, the Brazilian shantytown has seen substantial change. Buildings once under construction are now complete, while others have crumbled into a state of disrepair. Players must avoid falling to their death as they traverse the map from one building to the next, with ramshackle scaffolding creating varied pathways between structures, and enemy snipers taking advantage of the long sightlines. Players who complete the Field Order in "Favela" will be able to call in heavy air support from a nearby Y-8 Gunship to bring the rain with a 105mm cannon, a 40mm auto-cannon and a 25mm cannon."

Re: Call of Duty: Ghosts (November 2013)

I already traded in the game but these maps intrigue me. Summon ghost pirates? Awesome. Triggering traps in a pyramid? Hilarious.

I am also super interested in the aesthetics of a Dia de lod Muertos map.

Re: Call of Duty: Ghosts (November 2013)

Playing Favela again is awesome but at the same time it has me missing all the other maps I loved from MW2.

I'd be perfectly happy if the last map pack was nothing but old MW2 maps. I'd pick Estate, Wasteland, Sub Base, and Rundown.

Re: Call of Duty: Ghosts (November 2013)

It bugs me that the DLC maps show creativity, flavor, and are so much more colorful than what came in the base game.

Why can't the base game include some of those features?

Re: Call of Duty: Ghosts (November 2013)

Map pack sounds shitty. 2 small maps, one microscopic map, and one with a bullshit killstreak that seemingly can't be avoided.

I'll still get it for the extinction map though which is as fun and the MP is shitty.

I skipped Ghosts because of the bad buzz and because I'm still enjoying the hell out of Blops2. I'm hoping AW is good because I'd really like to play a next (current?) gen CoD.

I actually prefer Ghosts to Black Ops 2 but they're both pretty shitty.
