re: Do you plan on buying the next Xbox or PlayStation 4? (Pre E3 Edition)

I owned both the 360 and the PS3, but there's no question which I actually used.

After all the rumors the last few months and the news at the conferences yesterday, I was content to sit both out until prices dropped and there was a library worth playing.

Kingdom Hearts 3 (which doesn't appear to be exclusive) on the PS4 changed that. I will get a PS4 when that game is released.

If the X1 was BC and my extensive XBLA and 360 disc collection migrated, I'd be much more inclined to stick with Microsoft, but since they're making me start from scratch in the next generation anyway, I've no need for them. The only thing I'm truly losing is Twisted Pixel Games whom Microsoft acquired last year. That stings, but I saw their next (LocoCycle) at PAX East and I wasn't impressed anyway.

I'd change my vote to PS4 now, but not for the reasons noted above, but rather for a bunch of other reasons that were a complete surprise to me (DRM, $400 price point, exclusive content).

I'm half way tempted to start a "post E3" version of this poll...depending on moderator thoughts on the matter.

Unless something changes, I won't be getting either anytime soon. i have been playing PC games pretty much exclusively for the past year. If I was getting one, my money would go to the PS4 and this is coming from a big 360 guy. I only have a 360 and I have frowned upon the PS3 all generation, but now -- Xbox can kiss my ass and I would give Sony a big sloppy kiss

I used both my XBox and 360 more than I used my PS2 and PS3 but at this point I can't see myself buying a XBox One. I hope they keeep the 360 going for a few more years even just for the GoD.

Voted both back when the poll was started, but I am no longer planning to get the Xbox One, just a PS4.
Go fuck yourself Microsoft.

Pre-ordered PS4, will get XOne when it's cheaper.

I plan on letting both systems find their way during the first year out and then see which one is the most appealing. Sony definitely won the opening battle, but it will be a long campaign.

I was planning on preordering both but now I am only getting the PS4 which I have already preordered. if microsoft changes their stance on checking in online, kinect always connected and used games then I would buy one mainly for Halo but for now I will just live without Halo.

i have a question for you guys who actually understand technology. I am a "tech spec" moron. I currently own a 360 but I play games on my laptop exclusively now. It is a couple of years old, not a powerhouse at all, but it can play most games at least medium settings. I plan to upgrade to a stronger laptop later this year or next year. Do you think it will be possible to get a laptop for less than $1000 that will match the performance of the PS4 and Xbox One? It may be too early to make that determination.

I expect it to be like it always is. Consoles will look a bit better early in the generation because they're optimized, and PCs overtake them in a few years based on raw power.

Do you prefer laptos over desktops?

Started a post E3 thread on same topic, as I suspect some minds might be changed. Apologies to mods if it's an issue.

It's too early to determine but most likely no. The original rumor placed the PS4 graphical processor at level with roughly a AMD/Ati 7870.

That gets around 50 fps in Tomb Raider (2013) and Crysis 3 at 1920x1080 with everything maxed out. To match that you'll need roughly a Radeon HD 7970M Crossfire (SLI) or better, though you'd probably be fine with a GTX780M graphic card.

it has to be a laptop. it is more practical for our family. my wife would laugh her ass off if I said..."honey, do you mind if I get a desktop as well?" Wife :"Are you out of your damn mind, we don't need two computers!, Go sleep on the couch!"

I may wait till late 2014 then, maybe a laptop can match it by then.

Laptops already can catch it, it's just $$. You can get a stacked MSI Force 16F4 laptop for about $1650 w/ the 780M, still not the same as the rumored PS3 processor but it'll get games running pretty well for ya.

re: Do you plan on buying the next Xbox or PlayStation 4? (Pre E3 Edition)

I'm going to wait it out at release. Or at least try too. My re-entry into console gaming was with the XB360 five or six years ago (prior to that it was the Sega Genesis). I've never owned a Playstation. I've played my friends/relative's but hated the controller. Having said that, I'd have to choose the PS4 if forced to make a decision now. Definitely don't want two next-gen consoles though will keep my 360. I would hate to lose my achievements, make new friends, etc but I really don't like the way M$ is handling all of this.

I'm trying to decide what to do. Sony hit it out the park, but I love my Xbox to death. I probably will get both. Thing is, I only use my PS3 as a blu ray player at this point outside of some minor gaming.

.
With the influx of 360 gamers moving to the PS fold they should offer two official controllers.

Getting PS4 within a month or two of launch.

Might get XBone after it's first price-drop.
