The idea that the cloud can perpetually change the world you play in is very intriguing but at the same time you should never truly have to rely on the internet to play a game.

You have to understand that a lot of xbox fanboys (myself included) are very pissed about a lot of the new console features and are just let the F down by it and have SERIOUSLY made up our minds to not buy the damn thing already.

Yeah, crying about it is kind of pathetic but I see it more as we're just showing frustration - I honestly think that since now we all know Sony has the better system (as it relates to the retarded features that it left out but M$ kept) ......our bitching/crying will fade away soon.

There is one other benefit to retail copies. Deals, sales, clearances, etc.

One would hope. However, it's possible for download games to have deals and sales too, so it's not a clear benefit. It all depends on how Microsoft and publishers approach it.

Yeah, every year Steam has a big summer sale and an even bigger Christmas sale.

It's pretty normal for the game demos to not be running on the actual consoles during these launches; the first E3 where the 360 launched, the demos were running on Mac's.

Yes but I'm talking like retailer incentives on day one. Will MS sell a new game for $40 or offer up a $20 credit towards the next game you buy digitally? Sure months down the line the digital version will get a sale, but release week? I have my doubts.

Just got back from E3. Played Killer Instinct and it was actually pretty awesome. I randomly was talking to the game designer while waiting for a match to end and he seemed to know his shit and what fans want. The game was fun and pretty, and I suck at fighting games

The difference between Steam and the Xbone is that Steam is competing against many other digital distributors of PC games, which makes the environment closer to B&M retail space. Microsoft would be competing against no other distributors for games, unless they're trying to entice PS4 gamers to also by an Xbone. It would be like Gamestop being the sole distributor for physical video games. There's no competition, so no incentive to drop prices, at least not at first.

It has better specs, too. There's no reason to buy an xbone.

I don't think the industry is going to move to completely digital-only any time soon anyway, so until that happens there's still retail boxed versions of games that can be discounted from other retailers on the One. Physical copies of PC games haven't gone away yet.
