Playing the game in the hopes of random engram drops is a pretty painful way to go. The quickest method to get from 22 to 26:

1. If you had gotten the two queen's armor pieces, you'd have two legendaries (chest and helmet).
2. Do your bounties, ideally while also farming public events and patrol missions. This will level up your vanguard vendor and get you vanguard marks for currency.
3. If you level up the vanguard vendor with bounties and dailies, you can get legendary armor there.
4. If you do at least one public event every day (usually gives a mote or a coin for the first one).
5. If you do the daily heroic, you sometimes get legendaries there, along with materials to level them up.
6. If you do the weekly heroic, you get 3, 6 or 9 strange coins depending on which difficulty level you do (bring friends) along with a decent chance at a legendary. This will probably be the source of your first exotic.

True. The one pain in the ass for me is gathering up Spirit Bloom. All of sudden I don't have any of it and I have like 3 upgrades that require 16 pieces for each upgrade.

Spirit Bloom is probably the second quickest material to farm behind Iron Relic.

Hit all all of the caves in Ember Caves (left from spawn) and just keep running that circle. You'll get at least 5-10 Spirit Blooms per rotation in my experience...and there's a decent chance you'll catch a public event or two along the way...along with the patrol missions in that area.

It's also easy to knock out a bunch of patrol missions while doing this. Plus a public event takes place right there so you can get some good stuff from that too if you stay long enough.

The key to this game is multitasking.

Haven't kept up with the thread as I'm woefully behind (just made it to lvl 18 tonight).

Anyway, right before I was ready to quit I got booted from the game (server/network issue). Anyway when I tried to boot back up I got two different error messages (only recall this one though):

User not permitted to use modded content or something to that extent. Very strange.

I got that once too (I've been able to play since then), and I think it's just a glitch that comes up when Bungie's servers are slow.

Thanks. My brother and I did a few strikes last night. For some reason I had thought as long as one member of the fire team met the level requirement, you could do certain missions. We tried to do the daily heroic on Venus which was level 20. I was 22 he was 18 but it wouldn't let us do it.

So for all the whining I did yesterday, I managed to get from level 22 to 24 last night. 6 blue engrams overall and 2 translated to a higher light level rare item then I had before. I got a gift from the cryptarch that said it was a legendary engram...but when I actually took possession from the postmaster, it turned into 2 blue engrams instead. Is that normal?

The Iron Banner Tournament has begun!

The Cruicble feels a little better with the Iron Banner rules...then again I went in with a maxed out Warlock and used my SUROS Regime ;)

The first two games I did really well, being on the winning team and leading the score both times (I rarely lead the score, and that might be the first time I did it back to back).

I then went to Lord Saladin, who runs the Iron Banner shop. He doesn't have much. One weapon, a Legendary Machine Gun, and some Legendary Armor (Arms for Warlocks, Arms and Chest for Titans, and Chest for Hunters). Basically it didn't seem much better than what the other Tower vendors offer.

I did grab the Emblem and Shader available at Level 1:

I don't have it either. When I play crucible I hardly ever get killed by it so I'm not worried about it. 95% of my deaths are from shotguns and the hunter arc blade thing. Those two are WAY overpowered in pvp.

I don't want it for PVP. Will probably never play PVP.

I need another 28 (or two) to do the weekly and the nightfall. I think I have ~25 strange coins right now, and I'm hoping to put together enough this week to have the option to get Xur's weapon and one piece of exotic armor if both are good.

It's also possible that I'll be able to string together 25 motes of light between my three characters, but I kind of doubt it. I think that will be an every other week thing.

Yeah, I've had that happen, so I think it's normal. It's even listed as a potential outcome on the package he sends you IIRC.

It wouldn't be Destiny if it didn't kick you in the crotch at least once per day. ;)

The hunter melee attack is infuriatingly overpowered in PVP. That seems to account for half of my deaths.

Hardly. You have to be within about 5 feet to call it in or you get dead long before you reach someone. Whereas Titans can run a thousand yards through gunfire from 4 or 5 people to get their BS super off. Not to mention in tie breaker situation the Titan super always wins because it takes one hit to kill.

of course he has gauntlets only for the Warlock ... that is because I bought the Sunbreakers from Xur last week ... I guess it doesn't matter as you can only equip one piece of exotic armor .... legendary machine gun isn't going to help me either as I have a legendary rocket launcher

I do have the legendary Vanquisher VIII but still would like an exotic auto
