Yeah, no farming until the engram patch, but then by the time they patch the engram, they could very well patch the easy framing areas.

I find the best place for Hive majors is on the moon. There's always 2 level 6 majors guarding the entrance to the hive temple closest to where you spawn. If you go away from that they spawn again quickly. Plus there are always 2 more inside, they're Level 12 and guard the entrance to the Summoning Pits.

But yeah, the best place for the Fallen is the Venus cave. That thing respawns like the loot cave, almost.

i screwed up. i put a dead orbit bond on my guy, not realizing that it wasn't giving me vanguard points to the bounties. it was going to them. so now i've got a barely level 1 dead orbit, which can't get me shit, and not even a level 2 vanguard so i can buy legendary shit from my person. stupid

I've had faction rep equipped for a good while .... that way all crucible/vanguard rep goes to my faction rep

doesn't seem like the factions offered anything worse than the vanguards and seems to make the most sense for me since I split my time with both vanguard and crucible bounties

I've been rolling with The New Monarchy since I first unlocked the factions. Almost to level 3 now. I should have all legendary armor by the end of the week.

I don't understand the factions even a little bit. I thought I could wear an emblem and start ranking up in that faction but it won't even let me buy an emblem to rank it up.

don't wear an emblem .... after level 20 you can buy a cloak (Hunter)/mark (Titan)/or bond (Warlock) from 1 of the 3 factions which I believe only requires glimmer to do so ... this will apply crucible and vanguard rewards to your faction rep if equipped

Also, the factions each have specialties when it comes to their gear, so you really need to choose wisely.

For instance, New Monarchy armor focuses on I believe Intellect and Strength, which help your cooldowns for your super move and melees.

Future War Cult is Discipline and Strength, which is grenades and melee.

Dead Orbit is Intellect and Discipline, for Super Move and grenades.

Vanguard and Crucible armor offer a mix of these abilities.

i haven't chosen a faction yet...is it worth choosing the Queen? Or is her emissary gonna disappear in a week or 2 when "the queen's wrath" is over?

Queen's wrath is limited.

There's no reason to buy anything from the Queen, her weapons are only blue, and you get the legendary armor through the missions. If you need XP, her bounties are not bad.

Fair enough ;)

I'm surprised there aren't more shaders in the game. You'd figure the factions would each have shaders. I'd buy a Dead Orbit shader if they had it, like say black and white or silver.

I'm using the blue and gold shader, which is UCLA colors, but I'd like more variety.

musick 09-30-14 08:52 PM

Re: Bungie - Destiny

yeah seems like the Guardian Outfitter's shaders never change

I want to do crap for the Queen because I thought she was pretty cool in the cut scenes. Seems like a neat faction.

I thought she was cool, but the whole idea of the Awoken being mysterious was odd, you know, since you can make your own character Awoken! My Warlock is an Awoken, but doesn't know what they are?

And there's Awokens in The Tower, like the Special order gal, and the Titan Vanguard. They can't be that mysterious...

All of those inconsistencies were mentioned by the supposed Bungie insider who posted a lot of info on Reddit a couple of days ago. In the original plan for Destiny before the lead writer walked out and everything got scrambled, each of the 3 races you can choose for your character would have had a slightly different path through the main story. As opposed to the game that was released, where the race you choose has absolutely zero effect on anything, including story moments where it should matter.

Re: Bungie - Destiny

So to gain rank in a faction you have to wear a piece of class equipment from that faction?

I know for the Queen you can't buy the equipment until you have rank 1 in her faction. Which I assume you get from running her bounties.

After the patch, I can't play anymore. Every time I start playing, it keeps disconnecting from the server on my PS4. Going to have to google why this is happening.

I'm going to have to find this post on Reddit, because I was also very confused as to why my character seemed to know nothing about her own race.

Re: Bungie - Destiny

Another exciting night for me.
  • Ran the daily and got nothing. Not nothing of consequence. Nothing.
  • Finished the second part of the quest for the Thorn revolver, only to find that the third part is 500 PVP kills with a specific element (void) and that I get set back for every death. Really? Fuck you Bungie.
  • Got a sweet exotic armor...for a different class. So, yay?
  • Tried to hook up with some people to do the weekly, but they just wanted to farm helium, so I went to bed.
  • I did get to Vanguard 3, so at least I accomplished something. I guess I can now start leveling up one of the factions.

The game is honestly growing on me a bit, but the forced PVP and the resource grind is a bit much.

It would be nice if the faction leveling happened at the user level instead of at the character level.

Meaning you need to get 500 consecutive PvP kills? No dying whatsoever else you are back to zero? If true, that is total BS especially for us non-Pvp'rs. :(

Good intel here. Thanks.

Guess I'll work on Dead Orbit.
