I just have the regular edition pre-ordered, and I'm fine with that.

Re: Bungie - Destiny

yeah, I don't know what the hell I am doing yet

I have a LE and Ghost edition on order from Amazon
I want the LE and would either cancel or sell the Ghost edition but neither are on order with release date delivery
estimated delivery date shows the 15th - 19th, I don't know that either of those are 100% accurate

other options are to buy the standard edition at BB and get $10 (less than accounting for tax) to apply to the expansion pack and miss out on the extras most that I won't ever look at ... would rather use credit I have with Amazon

order the digital version though I always prefer physical

pay for upgraded shipping on the LE from Amazon

or just keep the LE order as is and wait for it to arrive

I'm willing to bet I will be able to find PS4 copies of the limited edition at Best Buy on launch day. Sounds like there's enough people holding pre-orders and canceling at the last minute that there will be some stock floating around. But I'll most likely stay with the regular edition.

I was at Gamestop today when they were opening the shipping boxes for the Limited Editions. They were pretty big (about the size of the Alan Wake LE, if not bigger). She said the Ghost Edition was massive as well.

Digital preorders can start playing?

;)

From what I know...the game will actually start to DL a few days ahead but won't be unlocked till midnight or at least when the servers go live. One thing that has been said is both Sony and Microsoft list their digital versions of Destiny as being playable “starting midnight PST,” or at 3:01 a.m. ET on September 9.

From their tweet...

Destiny servers will admit Guardians as soon as it is September 9th somewhere in the world. When you play is between you and your retailer.

Now the tricky part is everyone guessing just where are Bugie's Destiny Servers....according to Shack News...

Destiny servers located in a secret Vegas data center

Guardian published an in-depth feature that gives us a behind-the-scenes look at Destiny, which it's calling the "most expensive video game ever." In the feature, we learn Destiny's servers are house in a data center somewhere in Las Vegas. A team of over 100 engineers have been working to build and maintain the data center to esnure optimal connections to the PlayStation Network, Xbox Live and additional data centers around the globe.

100 engineers to design and maintain video game servers? Now that is progress for our future!

That's sort of like hiring a team of engineers to make sure that your new suspension bridge has optimal connections to the loose dirt and gravel on either side of the ravine.

Vegas being the main hub makes sense; when I was at my previous game company we were pitched Vegas for a data center for the same geographical disaster reasons, and it also being home to one of the largest datacenters (Switch SuperNAP).

Re: Bungie - Destiny

I know there's a massive Amazon server here somewhere.
I never understood why so many server sites are placed there (besides tax reasons) since it's got to get so hot in the summer time and the expense of cooling the system would be prohibitive, you'd think

Destiny, the New Fragrance by Xbox

No, really.
......

That headline goes from good to great when you imagine it being said in the seductive hush of a Calvin Klein advert.

It's genuine, by the way. Well, genuine in the sense that this is a real Microsoft advert, which has been linked to by its official Twitter account.

Not genuine, of course, in the sense that Microsoft hasn't started manufacturing eau de toilette (though, trust me, if you ever go to Gamescom when it's open to the public, you'll will wish they did).

So, er, why exactly is Microsoft advertising Destiny, the New Fragrance by Xbox?

Well, in the UK Microsoft is not allowed to advertise the game for Xbox One, due to an agreement between Activision and Sony.

On the Fragrance advert's website you'll notice a message explaining:

"Okay, so here's the lowdown. Destiny is actually an epic new first-person shooter, available on Xbox. Thing is, we didn’t have permission to run adverts for the game. So we didn’t

Not bad but one question...how come the bottle is "Blue" and not Green...hmmm...

Pretty lame MS. Each passing decision they make just makes my chances of ever getting an x1 dwindle even further.

Deftones 09-05-14 10:42 AM

Re: Bungie - Destiny

why is that lame? i think it's even more lame that a company would prevent a game from being advertised. it's a fucking multiplatform game! more sales on xbox one helps activision make more $$$$

yeah, Vegas and Phoenix are the 2 big cities least likely to be hit by a natural disaster, so a lot of data companies have move or are moving to those locations.

So, cool to cock block Tomb Raider fans but not cool to cock block MS from some advertising? It's a multiplatform game, that's the bottom line, right?

Re: Bungie - Destiny

It is kinda' weird how Destiny has been positioned as a thoroughly PS4 game when it's multi-platform. I don't recall another multi-platfrom game that was this heavily biased towards one platform over the rest.

Check and mate. My hypocrisy meter was deep in the red.

I find the advert mildly amusing but mostly just embarrassing...like something that's trying too hard to go viral.

Meanwhile, the extra strike mission on PS4 smells badass. Pretty sure the strikes will end up being my favorite modes.

Yeah. It's almost like Sony paid Activision a ton of money to promote a game on Sony's platforms and not Sony's competitors' platforms. :)

FWIW... whatever. I think it's a little lame, but not a big deal. That white bundle is crazy tempting to me right now... and I don't even care that much about the game.

How about every Call of Duty?
Battlefield 4?
FIFA?
Assassin's Creed IV?
Watch Dogs?

All with exclusive content. All advertised on one platform.
